KENARAM BECHARAM —A drama written by Manoj Mittra
Becharam Chatterjee’s family has been trying to locate whereabouts of
him ever since Becharam left his family in disgust. Shrewd Nagen Panja
who claims to be an expert in filling in positions created by missing or
dead persons regardless of age shows up with vagabond Kenaram to fill
in Becharam’s place in the family. At Nagen’s bidding Kenaram tricks
Becharam’s son Subhendu, daughter Buri, son-in-law Pradip, daughter-in
-law Dipti and even Dipti’s attorney mother Charu Chameli Chowdhury
into believing that Becharam’s dead wife’s jewelry box, apparently containing lots of jewelry would be handed over to whoever takes care of
Kenaram. Greed takes over and they all fall for it except Becharam’s
granddaughter Tutul. To everyone’s dismay Becharam shows up and
discloses that all the jewelry have been used for building the house, education of the children and their wedding. He deliberately put metal scraps
in the box to sound like jewelry so his grown up children would take care
of him with an eye at the jewelry.
