To all of the adventurers out there...
In the movie Up, Carl’s house means everything to him, not because
of its physical presence but because of everything it symbolizes.
Similarly, when we come home to IMSA, we’re not just coming home
to seven residence halls - we’re returning to a community.
Homecoming Week is an embodiment of that spirit of unity. It is a
chance for us to celebrate each other and to show our community
pride.
Sophomores, you are embarking on a new adventure with its own
amazing sights and difficult obstacles. Like Russell, you arrive
enthusiastic and excited, ready to take on the world. As a nod to
your spirit, you have the color yellow, the color of Russell’s infamous
scout uniform. Now that you are here, do not lose that energy instead, channel it into finding your place in the IMSA community.
Your first Homecoming is an opportunity to prove your strength as a
class. Show IMSA your pride in being here together - after all, these
will be the people who support you for the rest of your adventures.
Juniors, as a difficult year looms ahead, you may find yourself drawn
farther from others and closer to your bed. You may become hard to
find, even exotic - sort of like the rare bird Kevin. You have been
given blue, the color of Kevin’s vibrant feathers, not to encourage
you to hermit but rather to remind you of your value and the
happiness you can bring others. Just as Kevin is like the glue that
holds Russell and Carl together (not sure what we mean? Now’s a
good time to brush up on your Up knowledge!), you are the class
that connects the sophomores to the seniors. Think of this year not
as a burden but as an opportunity for growth, development, and
even fun.
1
Seniors, you were given the color black, the color of Carl’s clothing.
As a result of losing his wife (sorry for the spoiler) and Carl’s age, he
becomes the classic cranky neighbor that is pessimistic about the
world. You have just started your third year at IMSA. At times, some
of you will simply want to fly away to Paradise Falls.
But remember, you have just started your third year at IMSA.
Everyday, one balloon is cut off from your house, making it slowly
fall. Make the most of your balloons; treasure each day here at
IMSA. Don’t forget the influence you can have on other adventurers
like Russell and Kevin (or in this case, the underclassmen). Let’s
show IMSA our pride in our class one more time.
Carl, Kevin, and Russell become an unlikely trio, just as a school of
650 students spanning three classes fly through IMSA together (as
Titans). The adventurers faced seemingly insurmountable obstacles
on the way, just as we will deal with late nights, papers, and
problem sets. But together, they made it to their happy ending. Our
story is still unfolding, but Homecoming Week serves as a reminder
that we are stronger as a community. Show off your class unity and
pride, and prove to everyone how proud you are to be a Titan.
You stay happy IMSA,
Paul Nebres and Heidi Dong
Campus Activities Board Director and Student Council President

Movie
Each year, Student Council makes a movie to introduce our
members, Sophomore-at-Large position, and homecoming theme.
Watch our movie by clicking on the image below!
Theme
Based on a vote by the Classes of 2016 and 2017 (sorry Class of
2018 – we didn’t know who you were yet!), the 2015 homecoming
theme will be Pixar’s Up.

Dress Up Days*
Movie Monday
Start off the week by wearing the outfit of your favorite movie character.
Maybe you have that Superman cape you’ve been dying to wear without
being judged.
Tired Tuesday
In typical IMSA fashion, show up to class looking bummy. Sweats, messy
hair, baggy clothes, the whole deal.
Well-Dressed Wednesday
Bouncing back from Tired Tuesday is Well-Dressed Wednesday, which as the
name suggests, has you looking your sharpest. Go as fancy as you like, from
blouses and polos to dresses and suits.
Class Shirt Thursday
In anticipation of the Pep Rally, show your class pride by donning your
official class shirt from your Class Club.
Flashback Friday
Jump back in time on Friday, when you can wear any old or retro clothing.
Spirit Saturday
Show your school spirit at the Homecoming Soccer Game!
*All clothing must adhere to IMSA’s dress code as outlined by IMSA’s
Student Handbook

Midday Events
Opening Ceremony
IMSA’s Homecoming is one of the most fun times of the year and what better
way to start it off than an Opening Ceremony. Classes will be able to start
their lead by winning the first points of the week with an Up themed game
and a class poster contest (view the rubric for the class poster on our
Homecoming Central page).
Eating Contest
Do you think you have what it takes to chow down dessert in the fastest
time? Then make sure to stop by the Old Cafe during midday to compete for
your class! Once the start signal is given, the chosen students from each class
will compete to finish the desserts the fastest and win points for their class.
Face Painting
Get fired up for pep rally by having your face painted with your class color.
Come down to the Old Cafe during midday and show your class pride!
What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar?
What would you do for a Klondike bar? Would you do a funny dance? Sing a
silly song? Or would you even lick the bottom of your shoe? Well if you come
down to the Old Cafe during midday, you can see your classmates do silly
things for a Klondike bar. Or you can join in on the fun and win yourself a
treat!
Homecoming Futbol Game
Come cheer on the soccer team!
7
Night Events
Wheel of Fortune
Participate in a classic game of Wheel of Fortune, with the contestants trying
to guess the correct answers, which will be a variety of different IMSA
colloquialisms. Each class will send up one representative per answer. The
class with the most points at the end of the game will win.
Powder Puff
The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy is known for three things:
mathematics, science, and football. To keep up with IMSA’s football legacy,
Homecoming Festivities now include a game of female football, otherwise
known as Powder Puff. Different schools play different variations of Powder
Puff, but commonly, the girls of each class play a swift game of football,
coached by the boys of each class. For further rules, go to our Homecoming
Central page!
Meet Your Match
Singled Out from previous years received a facelift and is back and better
than ever. Come watch six singles try to find love (or a dance partner). Who
knows? It might even be you! Comedy, romance, Paul Nebres... this show’s got
it all. So make sure to come cheer on your classmates, or let your own destiny
take its course at Meet Your Match!
Pep Rally
The crown jewel of homecoming - pep rally. We will be announcing
Homecoming Court and battling for the last points in an obstacle course, tug
of war, and drill team. Come see rivalries matched, hearts broken, and the
champions crowned. For more information about drill team and homecoming
court, visit Homecoming Central!

Hypnotist
Who’s ready to get hypnotized?! This year on Friday night, Doug Thompson,
a stand up comedian and hypnotist, is coming to IMSA. He combines
hypnosis, impressions, and comedy to create a unique comedy hypnotist
show experience. Because this event is so popular, free tickets will be passed
out during midday in the Old Cafe for early seating. Even if you don’t get a
ticket during midday, extra seats might be available in the auditorium before
the show starts.
Homecoming Dance
The whole week has culminated in this night. The competition is over! So
whether you come alone, you come with a date, or you come with a group of
friends, dance the night away with your fellow IMSA Titans.
Tickets will be sold during midday in the Old Cafe and at the door. The ticket
prices are as follows:
Singles: $15 per ticket
Couples: $28 for two tickets
At the door: $16 per ticket

Acknowledgements
We would like to thank our lovely advisors Amy Woods and Keith
McIntosh for all their help keeping the tradition of Homecoming
alive. Without them, none of this would be possible. We would
also like the thank the student body. This week is yours! Come to
the events and make some great memories with your classmates.
