Our markets
The industry is strongly export driven with a core of high-tech demanding EU customers for fast
cross sectorial product development. The industry’s main markets are the EU, Eastern Europe, the
United States, China and India.
Our strategy
The Belgian food, packaging and pharmaceutical technology providers pursue technological
leadership strategies. A key differentiator is its excellence in the hygienic design of their
machinery. The strong exposure to the EU and US markets assures their focus. In cooperation
with the EU downstream industries (food-, packaging and pharmaceutical) and the upstream
industries (metal & plastic products), the technology providers enhance the hygienic performance
and the food safety of their components, installations and machines. Joint brainstorm sessions
with downstream industries on the current challenges of the downstream industry as well the
technological possibilities, increases the pace of technology development in the industry to the
benefit of the final consumer. The technology providers give workshops and training to the food &
packaging and pharmaceutical industry to help them to reduce contamination in their production
processes and to produce better quality products. In conjunction with universities, the technology
providers work on the development of next generation food preservation techniques for higher
energy efficiency and better quality preservation.

Verpakt u producten? Importeert u verpakte producten?
Brengt u serviceverpakkingen op de markt? Dan bent
u waarschijnlijk verpakkingsverantwoordelijke en hebt u
wettelijke verplichtingen voor de verpakkingen die u op
de Belgische markt brengt. U moet onder meer 80%
van alle verpakkingen die u op de Belgische markt hebt
gebracht, recycleren. U kunt hiervoor eventueel beroep
doen op een erkend organisme.
Voor informatie, contacteer de bevoegde overheidsdienst,
de Interregionale Verpakkingscommissie.
Emballez-vous des produits? Importez-vous des produits
emballés? Mettez-vous des emballages de service sur
le marché ? Dans ce cas, vous êtes probablement
responsable d’emballages, avec des obligations légales
à respecter pour les emballages que vous mettez sur
le marché belge. Vous devez notamment recycler 80%
de tous les emballages que vous avez mis sur le
marché belge. Vous pouvez faire éventuellement appel
à un organisme agréé à cet effet.

l’administration compétente à ce sujet.
