To celebrate the Year of Mercy, St. Mary Parish is
planning a pilgrimage trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
in LaCrosse Wisconsin. No date has been selected for the trip.
Instead we are seeking input from interested parishioners about a
possible date. Please see the display in the back of church near
the center aisle for more information about the Shrine and possible
dates. Signing up at this time does not mean you are committed to
going. After Easter we will select a date based on the feedback of
parishioners. If you have questions, contact Diane at the parish

The True End of Natural Life
Easter is infused with the idea of rising from the dead. Many
people have had the experience of dying and coming back.
I once knew a man who, as a young boy, had spent more than
half an hour at the bottom of a river before he was fished out. He
was resuscitated and lived on to do nothing more unusual than
selling International Scouts and Travelalls. Doctors say that the
cold currents at the bottom of the river kept him alive. Well,
maybe.
The rejection of death and the possibility of immortality has
obsessed mankind – ancient kings come to mind, buried with all
their household goods, food, and servants so they could live on in
the style to which they’d become accustomed. The desire for
eternal life is strong and attempts to implement it seem to be
particularly the domain of the wealthy. Silicon Valley money and
technology is the new frontier of everlasting life. Well, good luck
with that. They may extend natural life somewhat but will never
achieve immortality.
Jesus wasn’t the only person to have brought the dead back to
life. Prophets in the Old Testament raised people from the dead.
I’ve even heard that some faith healers in the modern era have
raised people from the dead – but all of them died later, including
the faith healers, because natural life has an end.
But Jesus did something quite different on Easter Sunday. He
raised Himself from the dead – not to die again, but to live
forever. The form He took on is supernatural.
He says: “I AM the Resurrection.” I AM, as we know, is the name
of God. I AM is preparing the way for us!
Jesus tells us that not only is eternal life possible, but that we are
designed for it. He shows us the way. Through faith, through
repentance, through the cross, through death to self, through love
of God and our neighbor, through the sacraments of His Church.
In other words, through a relationship with Christ Jesus, we are
transformed into supernatural beings who will live on, with Him, in
Eternity.
He is risen! Hallelujah!

Dear faithful in Jesus Christ,
Happy Easter to all of you! I hope you have come to participate in the Holy Triduum of this
Holy Week. These three days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday along with
the day of Christmas are the most important days of the year. In these three days we have
made real again the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. And you know very
well that since that very moment, we have to make a decision, the mother of all decisions:
To be with Jesus Christ or to be against Jesus Christ. “Whoever is not with me is against
me, and whoever does not gather with me, scatters” Matthew 12, 30.
As you have seen in the news, the last days were not good for the so called Western Civilization. We feel sorrow and compassion for those who were killed in Belgium by an act of
cowardice. We felt sorrow and compassion for those who were killed too in Paris months
ago. We felt sorrow for those who were killed in Spain years ago in a similar tragedy. Finally, we felt sorrow and compassion for those who were killed in September 11th in
U.S.A. And many other barbaric actions that I don’t want to bring up now to you. The
question is, how can we stop the destruction of the Western Civilization and, potentially,
the beginning of a Third World War?
My answer to this question might sound silly or folly but I really don’t care what people
might think of my answer. The main problem in Europe (and I have to say in U.S.A too) is
not the presence of people who really hate Christianity and the Western Civilization based
on a man who called himself the Prophet. This is a real problem, but this is not the main
problem. This is not The Problem. The main problem in Europe (and I have to say in U.S.A
too though at a lower degree) is the barbaric rejection of Christianity by those who were
and are in the Power (Kings, Queens, and all people included in the term of Politicians) in
Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Great Britain, to mention only some of
them. All these european countries have repudiated with a violent rage all the teachings
coming from our Crucified God to the extent of mocking Him and ridiculizing him again. I
could put a list of actions they have approved and promoted against Jesus Christ but then
I would need to write several books and I have no time for it. The description of what is going on in U.S.A in regard the same rejection of Christianity is similar to Europe a few years
ago. And THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL. Mocking Jesus Christ for a second time is not
good at all.
We shouldn’t forget that the only way to defeat our enemies is by having a strong faith in
Jesus Christ, practicing what Jesus Christ taught, and defending and promoting from the
top to the bottom the Moral He brought to us. “For everyone who has been born of God
overcomes the World. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, our Faith”. 1
John 5, 4. If you want to Save America or make America great again, bring back to life all
the prescription our Savior Jesus Christ and God established for us. If not, we will perish!
Remember, “Whoever is not with me is against me”.
