A Marriage Preparation Program is required.
Anointing of the Sick
Anyone seriously ill, elderly, or prior to an
operation should be anointed with the Sacrament
of the Anointing of the Sick. Please speak with
one of the Priests to make the arrangements.
Communion for the Homebound
Anyone who cannot attend Mass due to illness or
age may receive Communion at home. Please call
the Rectory office to make arrangements.
Reconciliation (Confession)
Every Saturday and Eve of Holy Days from
4:00PM to 4:45PM in the Church and on the
Thursday before the First Friday of every month
after the 9:00AM Mass. Individual confessions
may be arranged by calling the Rectory office.

"The Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, 'This
man welcomes sinners and eats with them.'" Jesus knew
these self-righteous religious leaders were complaining. And
he knew they needed to learn a lesson. So, in addition to
giving a lived example of welcoming the company of "tax
collectors and sinners," Jesus also directly taught the skeptics about the importance of welcoming those who have
been lost. Today's Gospel gives a powerhouse lineup of three
parables that all teach a similar message: rejoice over the
lost sheep, rejoice over the lost coin, and rejoice over the
return of the lost son.

The theme can be summarized in the simple directive: rejoice
don't reject. When someone who isn't part of the "fold" appears in church, this is cause for rejoicing! It should not be
cause for gossip, sideways glances, or nervous whispers
about what to do or say. Rather a genuine smile and word of
welcome would be in order at the very least, and a heartfelt
invitation to join the community would be totally appropriate.
Too often we become complacent about our Christian company. We get used to seeing the same people every Sunday
and forget about the "lost" men and women who are outside
the bounds of our comfort zone. Jesus gives us the image of
an active shepherd who goes "after the lost one until he finds
it," and a diligent widow who will "sweep the house, searching carefully" until she finds her coin. He tells us of a father
who "ran to his son, embraced and kissed him," in spite of
the separation they had faced. We too are called to take
initiative in seeking out those who are lost, and to rejoice
heartily when they finally do come back home.

Ever In Our Hearts
Everyone remembers where they were that
morning when they heard about or saw the first plane
hit the North Tower. And we all remember what we
were doing when the second plane hit. I had just turned
on the TV to find out what was happening, when I
watched the second plane hit. After fifteen years, I realize that I have finally begun to let myself remember. Up
til now I just would not. But it still hurts.
My friend, Msgr. Emmet Fagan jumped into his
car to go to what would become known as Ground
Zero. He was going to try to find his nephew James
Murphy IV who was in Windows on the World that
morning. He came back three days later in shock and
grief.
Every day for a week or two, there were the prayer vigils and Masses. Then, almost every day for months, there
were the tearful, painful funerals. We all continue to share those emotional scars.
I still can’t watch the news coverage of that day without closing my eyes and turning it off. There is one
scene,however, that continues to provide solace. It’s the scene where people are pouring out of the towers and running
to safety. But the NYFD and NYPD are running into the towers to try and save more people. You know as you watch it
that almost all of them didn’t survive. But their heroism continues to inspire me.
They didn’t ask of those for whom they sacrificed so much, their race, religion or ethnic background, whether
they were illegal aliens, or whether they were Democrats or Republicans, liberals or conservatives. They simply did their
duty to save people they didn’t even know. May we never forget them.
To me, their sacrifice teaches a profound lesson. There are some things in life that are more important than our
individual comfort.
There is only one hope for us in the face of 9/11 and all of the other attacks on innocent people that have occurred since. If we pledge, in the memory of all those who died that day and since, to preserve and enhance the life of
each person in our families, our towns, our states, our nation. . .and our world, we shall overcome all the terrible evil of
that day and all the others.
This wisdom is what Jesus has been trying to teach us all of our lives. It is how He lived. It is how He saved us on
the Cross. It is the hope He gives us each day for love and happiness in this life and forever.
SECOND COLLECTION All Masses this weekend
The Catholic University of America Collection. The Catholic University of America, located in Washington D.C., is the
national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. CUA offers students an excellent education in a faithfilled atmosphere that is grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
Some of our own diocesan priests have received education there and have specialized in different ecclesiastical courses
and are now serving our Diocese.
The weekend of September 10th and 11th the National Collection for The Catholic University of America. Every dollar given directly supports aid for students
from dioceses across the country, including our diocese.

Hello Friends/Family of Sister Eileen - Update on the use of our funds:
The investigators from Professional Risk Management (PRM) have been hard at work. Members of the PRM team are former Austrian Police so
they've been able to effectively collaborate with the Police investigators. Several new interviews have been conducted with a variety of locals and
with businesses Sister Eileen visited. The day of Sister Eileen's disappearance was also the kickoff of the summer season in Austria, therefore the
investigators have been reviewing a variety of social media sites to see if she appears in any posts of people in the area. The idea is to identify
individuals who may have seen her that day. In addition, PRM's involvement, in our view, has prompted the local police to follow up on suspicious, unanswered questions from the initial investigation.
The investigators have a close contact at Krone Zeitung, a very prominent Austrian newspaper who is willing to write a follow -up story about
Sister Eileen's disappearance in an effort to generate renewed interest and information. They suggest that we include a reward for information
that leads to the discovery of her whereabouts. Right now, after the investigator's fees, we have only about 2500 euros to offer. Please consider
sending the gofundme link to your network of family and friends to help increase the amount of that reward. And most importantly, please continue to pray for our dear Sister Eileen.
Any funds raised that are not used for the investigation will be donated to Eileen's Order, Sisters of St. Joseph.

Ministry of Consolation
The Ministry of Consolation will have a meeting on Wednesday, October 5th at
7:30 in the lower church alcove. This meeting is for all current volunteers and for
anyone who may be interested in learning more about this wonderful ministry. So
what is involved?
Cake Bakers: You will be called on a rotating basis to bake a cake for the family of
the deceased. You can expect to be called 1 - 2 times per month.
Greeters: Two greeters are assigned to each Funeral Mass. You would hand out
booklets to the family/friends as they arrive and help during the Mass. You would
be trained in what to do and can expect to be called 1 -2 times per month.
Companions: These volunteers meet with the family to plan the Mass of Christian Burial. Initially, you will accompany a
current companion until you are comfortable going to the family on your own. Depending on how many funerals come
in, you can expect to be called 2 - 3 times per month.

We are looking for married couples who might be interested in answering the call to help out with this
very rewarding ministry. The commitment is only a
few weeks a year. We run 2 sessions each year, one
in the winter and one in the fall. Sessions run for 6
weeks. Our opening and closing meetings are held at
St. Anthony’s and are led by the coordinating couple.
The presenting couples meet with the engaged couples
in their home 4 times during the session. Books and
outlines will be provided and anyone interested is welcome to shadow our upcoming session.

Tim Dunne Basketball Invitational
St. Anthony’s Holy Hour is held from 1pm
until 2pm on Wednesdays on a regular weekly basis. It begins
with Exposition of the monstrance at 1pm & concludes at 2pm
following Benediction. The service includes hymns (O Salutaris,
Tantum Ergo), Scripture reading, preaching, and silent prayer.
Will be held on Sunday October 2nd at
St Anthony of Padua Parish Hall from 1:30-5pm.
Tim was a star Northport HS basketball player who is
now confined to a wheelchair from an accident when he
was 18 years old. Moneys raised from the event help
Tim with his expenses. Tim was an assistant coach of the
Northport Boys basketball team and is an inspiration to
all who know him.

No Cost Counseling and Crime Victim Support Services
for Children and Adults
Crab Meadow Golf Course
The Crime Victims Center at Parents for Megan’s Law provides
crime victim support services to all child and adult victims of crime,
and their non-offending family members in Suffolk County. Services
are offered at no cost, and includes, short and long term counseling
with a New York State Licensed Therapist, criminal justice and family
court advocacy, and referrals for concrete services.
The Fr. Thomas A. Judge Knights of Columbus Council No. 6893
is hosting its 21st Annual Sam Russo Golf Classic charitable fund
raiser on Monday, September 26th, at the Crab Meadow Golf
Course (1:30 PM Shotgun start). Registration Entry Fee of
$160.00* includes green fees, driving range, cart, BBQ Lunch at
course (11:30 AM to tee-off), cocktail hour, awards dinner and
free drawing for a golf GPS watch. All golfers (singles, twosomes,

Needed for Hospital Duty
on Thursdays after the 9AM Mass. The Priest dismisses the
Ministers with a blessing, and they proceed to
Huntington Hospital. Usually the return is around 11:30
am. There are presently 4 Teams, each going once every 4
weeks. For those who are able to partake in this Ministry of
bringing Jesus in the Holy Eucharist to the patients at
Huntington Hospital, it is truly a gift and full of graces!
