Christina Bock Mezzosoprano Since the 2014/2015 season mezzosoprano Christina Bock is
member of the ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden. In 2016
she has been seen there as Waltraute in WALKÜRE, Siebel in
FAUST/ MARGARETE as well as Zerlina in a new production of
DON GIOVANNI. For the 2016/17 season she is scheduled for
three new productions: Page in SALOME (NP - Michael Schulz/
Omer Meir Welber), Nicklausse in Les Contes d’ Hoffmann ( NP
Johannes Erath / Frédéric Chaslin) and Lisa in Miecyslaw
Weinberg’s DIE PASSAGIERIN (NP Anselm Weber / Christoph
Gedschold). Further she will sing revivals of DON GIOVANNI and
THE GREAT GATSBY. To the Salzburg Easter Festival 2017
and to the Beijing Music Festival she is invited to appear as Waltraute in WALKÜRE. In
2018/19 Christina Bock will sing Wellgunde in RHEINGOLD and GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG as well as
Page in SALOME at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
At the Semperoper Dresden she performed a.o. Wirtstochter in Humperdinck’s
KÖNIGSKINDER (new production), Orlovsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS, Cherubino in Mozart’s LE
NOZZE DI FIGARO (new production with performances at the Savonlinna festival), Jordan
Baker in THE GREAT GATSBY (new production) and Lola in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA.
In 2011/2012 the artist started a close relationship to the Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe
and from 2013/2014 she has been a member of the ensemble. She sang there: L'enfant in
L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES, Prinz Orlofsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS and Mother in the childrens
opera WO DIE WILDEN KERLE WOHNEN by Oliver Knussen (all new productions). And she sang
performances of 2nd Dame, Cherubino, Hannchen (DER VETTER AUS DINGSDA) and Vlasta
(DIE PASSAGIERIN by Mieczysław Weinberg). The Theater Freiburg invited her for the title
role in DIE CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN.
Christina Bock started her career at the Theater Gera/Altenburg singing Dryade in ARIADNE
AUF NAXOS and 3rd Dame in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE. She has been prize winner of the international
singing competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and has been invited to sing there the
role of Bianca in THE RAPE OF LUCRECIA. At the Tonhalle Düsseldorf she sang Margaretha in
a concertperformance of Schumann’s GENOVEVA and in Karlsruhe she sang Oberon in
Britten’s MIDSUMMERNIGHT’S DREAM. 2011 she has been awarded at the International singing
competition Hilde Zadek a.o. with the prize of the Arnold Schönberg Centre Vienna.
In the artist’s focus is the contemporairien opera, the operetta and the chamber music. Since
2013 she works regularly with the Raschèr Saxphon Quartett.
Born in 1986 in Thuringia Christina Bock started her studies in 2005 at the Hochschule für
Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig with Prof. Elvira Dreßen. She has
been awarded by the Richard Wagner Foundation and completed her studies with Friedemann
Röhlig, Hartmut Höll and Mitsuko Shirai. Since summer 2013 she works with Prof. Charlotte
Lehmann in Hannover.
