Revenues
Last year, thousands of people, young and old,
participated in programs and services that helped develop
their spirits, minds and bodies. Everyone who comes to
the Y has a different story to tell about how the Y made a
positive difference in their life! We are pleased to share
some of those stories in this annual report. Please take
time to review our report and see the positive impact that
your YMCA had on our service area. Thanks for your
support and participation.
Our success through the years would not be possible
without dedicated staff, volunteers, contributors,
members, and program participants... that’s you! Thank
you for being an important part of the YMCA. We look
forward to serving you in 2014.
• Over 30,000 members / program members attended our group fitness
classes to stay active and healthy.

My favorite thing about the Ottumwa
YMCA is the early learning center. I
love how my son starts with his class
and age category and stays with
them throughout the program. He
can create friendships with teachers
and peers that will continue with him
through his pre-k years. The teachers
are a very special part of this
program as well. Even the teachers
who aren’t in his room say bye to him,
by name, as we are leaving the center.
They know me by name and are always
working to keep me involved in his
development. The YMCA is an
important part of our family.
ABBY,
YMCA Early Learning Parent
For us, family is a very important
part of our lives. The YMCA helps
make it possible for all of us to
come together and stay active and
healthy. Since my involvement with
the Y, I have increase my physical
activity and have learned a great
deal about nutrition. The kind of
encouragement that I received from
the fitness staff during the new
year, new you program was
incredible. I feel like the YMCA is
one big family and I’m never judged
for my beliefs.

The best part of my day is greeting
the children as they come into the
classrooms in the morning. No
matter what kind of day it has
been so far for them, I’m there to
make sure that their day is great.
When those children come in with
a grouchy morning face, and they
see you and run to give you a hug,
there’s no amount of money in the
world that’s worth that feeling.

The Lifetime Wellness
Program has changed
our family in a very
incredible way. This
program focused on
the whole package of
health, diet , and
nutrition. My child
has lost weight and
increased her selfesteem. She now has
a much more positive
out look on life and is
now participating in
activities that I would
have never dreamed
of. The YMCA saved my
daughters life.
