Cut the following for each of
the three blocks.
Fabric A- (House) Two 3h” squares
One 1h” x 8h” piece
One 1h” x 4h” piece
Two 1h” squares
Fabric B- (Background)Two 2h” squares
Three 1h” x 2h” pieces
Fabric C- (Roof)One 2h” x 8h” piece
Fabric D- (Door)One 2h” x 3h” piece
Fabric E- (Windows and Chimneys)
Four 1h” squares
Star and Moon
Cut the following for each of two block
Fabric A- (Star Points) Eight 2h” squares
Fabric B- (Background)
Four 2h” x 4h” pieces

Making the Blocks
Make one block at a time referring to diagrams and fabric keys.
Refer to Quick Corner Triangles directions.
For each block, corner triangle units are
made first and then the block is pieced. Pay
close attention that corner triangle units are
positioned the same as shown on the diagrams.
It may be helpful to refer to the quilt layout
on page 2 as you sew.
3. Sew two 1h” Fabric A squares, two 1h”
Fabric E squares and one 4h” x 1h” Fabric
A piece together in order shown. Press.
4. Sew one 2h” x 3h” Fabric D
piece between two 3h”
Fabric A squares. Press.
House
Make a total of three house blocks.
5. Sew 1h” x 8h”
Fabric A piece and units
from steps 1-4 together
in order shown. Press.
House block will now
measure 8h” square.
1. For each block sew two 2h” Fabric B
squares to one 8h” x 2h” Fabric C piece.
Press.
2. Using g” seams sew three 2h” x 1h”
Fabric B pieces and two 1h” Fabric E
squares together in order shown. Press.

6. The house block used
in row three needs filler
squares added to top.
Sew four 2h” filler squares together
to make an 8h” x 2h”strip. Press.
Choose one house block and sew
strip to top. Press.

Star and Moon
Make a total of two star and moon blocks.
1a. For each block sew one
2h” Fabric A square to each
of four 4h” x 2h” Fabric B
pieces. Press.
6. Sew one 2h” x 1h” Fabric D
piece to corner triangle unit from
step 3. Press.
7. Sew corner triangle unit
fromstep 4 to unit from
step 6. Press.
1b. Sew four additional
2h” Fabric A squares to
corner triangle units from
step 1a. Press.
8. Sew unit from step 5 to
unit from step 7. Press.
2. Sew one 1h” Fabric D
square to one 1h” x 2h”
Fabric C piece. Press.
9. Sew unit from step 8 between two
corner triangle units from step 1b. Press.
3. Sew one 1h” Fabric D
square to one 2h” x 1h”
Fabric C piece. Press.
4. Sew two 1h” Fabric D
squares to one 2h”
Fabric C square. Press.
5. Using g” seams, sew
corner triangle unit from
step 2 to one 3h” x 2h”
Fabric D piece. Press.

10. Sew remaining two corner triangle
units from step 1b between four 2h”
Fabric B squares. Press.
11. Sew unit from step 9 between two
units from step 10. Press. Star and moon
block will now measure 8h” square.

Heart
Make total of two heart blocks.
1. For each block sew two 1h”
Fabric B squares to each of two
4h” Fabric A squares. Press.
2. Sew two 4h” Fabric B
squares to two remaining 4h”
Fabric A squares. Press.
3. Using g” seams, sew
corner triangle units from
step 1 together. Press.
4. Sew corner triangle units
from step 2 together. Press.
5. Sew units from step 3 and 4 together. Press.
Heart block will now measure 8h” square.
