PRADO MUSEUM
The Museo del Prado is the
main Spanish national art
museum, located in
central Madrid.
It features one of the world's
finest collections of European
art, dating from the 12th
century to the early 19th
century.
Diego Velázquez
(1599-1660)
Diego Velázquez was a Spanish
painter of the baroque period
who, with Francisco de Goya
(Romanticist artist) and El
Greco (Renaissance artist),
forms the great triumvirate of
Spanish painting.
LAS MENINAS

Las Meninas (1656, Prado,
Madrid) is considered one of
the greatest paintings of all
time. The central figure is
Infanta Margarita, daughter
of King Philip IV of Spain.

is also known for his scenes of
violence, especially those
prompted by the French
invasion of Spain

paintings are The Nude Maja (La
maja desnuda) and this one The
Clothed Maja (La maja vestida).
The Third of May 1808 or Los
fusilamientos del tres de mayo)
1814 . to commemorate Spanish
resistance to Napoleon's armies
during the occupation of 1808.
EL GRECO (1541–
1614)
El Greco is probably one of the
most well known artists of his time
was a painter, sculptor of the
Spanish Renaissance."El Greco"
("The Greek") was a nickname, a
reference to his Greek origin.

considered among his finest

sections, heavenly above and
