June 14, 2015 / 14 czerwca What does it mean to have a Mass "offered" for
someone?
An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for
several reasons: in thanksgiving, for the inten ons
of another person or as is most common, for the
repose of the soul of someone who has died for the
souls in purgatory.
One must never forget the infinite graces that flow
from the Sacrifice of the
Mass which benefit
one’s soul. We find not
only the origins of this
prac ce da ng to the
early Church but we also
clearly recognize its importance. Offering Mass
for a special Inten on is
a long standing tradi on in the Catholic Church. It is
usually considered that special graces are obtained
for whom the Mass is said.
If you would like to have a Mass said for someone,
please contact the Parish Office 773-545-8581 ex. 0.
We will help you with the dates and mes which
are available. The s pend or offering given, signifies
the sacrificial nature of giving of something of yourself to associate more in mately with Christ who
offers himself in the Eucharist.

Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Everything we hear in the Gospels, is to help us
understand what Jesus Christ wanted to convey
both to the people of his me, as well as future
genera ons. We are the children of God, and God
in His word o en sounds as if he is talking to children. And His words are s ll as valid as they were
2000 years ago.
The power of God, and His mercy is portrayed in the first
reading. God says He has the power to exalt the humble and
demean the confident: "all the trees of the field shall know
that I am the Lord who humbles the high tree, and exalts the
low tree, which makes the green tree wither, which gives the
dry tree nourishment to grow. I, the Lord, say this, and this I
will do. "(Ezekiel 17,24). How did the Prophet Ezekiel, who
lived before Christ, a er all, possess this knowledge? The Holy
Spirit, under whose inspira on he wrote, directed these words
not only to those Ezekiel and those who were born before
Christ, but also to us, to those who are here now and hear
them. Our task is to grow in the Lord with love and humility,
without any superiority toward others.
Jesus, knowing our limits, tries to explain to us the essence of
the kingdom of God. And again in the parable He gives us ps
on how to live, to grow in faith so we will discover the kingdom of Christ when we will are judged by God on the final
day.
We live as the mustard seed that "when it is sown in the
earth, is the smallest of all the seeds on the ground. But sown
well it grows and becomes bigger than vegetables; puts forth
large branches, so that the birds of the air nest in its shade
"(Mark 4: 31-32). Our faith is the fer le ground on which our
lives thrive, and at the same me our life is the fer le ground
on which to grow our faith.
With all my heart I thank all those who are involved in parish
life. Many thanks to those who, come on Thursdays at 2:00
pm to clean the church. We are always in need of new volunteers. Many thanks to those who help Sister Sophie and Mr.
Jan Mleczko to beau fully decorate the church before all fesvi es especially the chancel. Thank you very much to Mr.
Zbyszek Jaremkiewicz of "Victor Studio," which volunteered to
make beau ful pictures of the celebra ons of the 25th anniversary of ordina on of Deacon Jim Schiltz and the 45th anniversary of the marriage Deacon Jim and Connie Schiltz. I highly
recommend the services of his reliable studio, which has already proved itself at many weddings, first Holy Communions
and Confirma ons at our parish. The telephone for "Victor

Many thanks to all those involved in the prepara ons for our
parish' 100th anniversary under the leadership of Connie and

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele,
Wszystko, co słyszymy w Ewangeliach, ma
nam pomóc w zrozumieniu tego, co Jezus Chrystus
chciał przekazać zarówno ludziom Sobie
współczesnym, jak i przyszłym pokoleniom. Jesteśmy dziećmi Bożymi, dlatego słowa przypowieści
często brzmią tak, jakby były skierowane do dzieci. I
nadal są tak aktualne, jak były 2000 lat temu.
Moc Boga, Jego władza i Jego miłosierdzie to temat
pierwszego czytania. Bóg może każdego pokornego wywyższyć i
każdego pewnego siebie poniżyć: „wszystkie drzewa polne poznają, że Ja jestem Pan, który poniża drzewo wysokie, który drzewo niskie wywyższa, który sprawia, że drzewo zielone usycha,
który zieloność daje drzewu suchemu. Ja, Pan, rzekłem i to
uczynię.” (Ez 17,24). Skąd Prorok Ezechiel, żyjący przecież przed
narodzeniem Chrystusa, posiadł tę wiedzę? To Duch Święty, pod
którego natchnieniem pisał, kieruje te słowa nie tylko do tych,
którzy byli urodzeni przed Chrystusem, ale i do nas, do tych,
którzy teraz i tutaj je słyszą. Naszym zadaniem jest wzrastać w
Panu z miłością i pokorą, bez jakiegokolwiek wywyższania się
nad innych.
Jezus, znając nasze ograniczenia, stara się wytłumaczyć
istotę królestwa Bożego. I znowu w przypowieści daje nam
wskazówki, jak mamy żyć, bowiem jak żyć będziemy, tak
będziemy wzrastać w wierze, jak będziemy traktowali wiarę, tak
będziemy odkrywali Królestwo Chrystusa i tak też będziemy
oceniani przez Boga przy spotkaniu ostatecznym.
Mamy żyć jak to ziarenko gorczycy, które „gdy się je
wsiewa w ziemię, jest najmniejsze ze wszystkich nasion na
ziemi. Lecz wsiane wyrasta i staje się większe od jarzyn;
wypuszcza wielkie gałęzie, tak, że ptaki powietrzne gnieżdżą się
w jego cieniu” (Mk 4, 31-32). Nasza wiara to podatny grunt, na
którym ma się dobrze rozwijać nasze życie, a równocześnie
nasze życie to podatny grunt, na którym ma wzrastać nasza
wiara.
Z całego serca dziękuję tym wszystkim, którzy angażują
się w życie parafialne. Bardzo dziękuję tym, kórzy przychodzą w
czwartki na godzinę 2:00 po południu i sprzątają kościół. Potrzeba jest nowych wolontariuszy, którzy przynajmniej od czasu do
czasu wspomogą tych obecnych. Bardzo dziękuję tym którzy
wspomagają Siostrę Zofię i Pana Jana Mleczko i przed
wszystkimi uroczystościami pięknie dekorują kościoł a szczególnie prezbiterium. Serdecznie dziękuję Panu Zbyszkowi Jaremkiewicz z „Victor Studio” , który bezinteresownie wykonał
przepiękne zdjęcia z uroczystości 25-lecia święceń diakonatu
Diakona Jim Schiltz oraz 45-ej rocznicy małżeństwa Diakona Jim
i Connie Schiltz. Szczerze polecam usługi tego niezawodnego
studia fotograficznego, które sprawdziło się już wielokrotnie
przy okazji ślubów, pierwszych Komunii św. i bierzmowania.

he Parish Transforma on Ini a ve is a strategy
to make good parishes be er. That’s how Father
Ron Lewinski described the program two years ago,
about a year into the project that will help all parishes
in the archdiocese evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and come up with ways to improve both mission and ministry, and, they hope, their financial situaons.
The program now has been done at nearly half the
archdiocese’s 353 parishes, with a new wave that just
started in late February. As more parishes complete
the transforma on process, they have more innova ve
ideas that can be shared with their neighbors.
Forming Inten onal Disciples, shows how every parish
can be a center of invigorated discipleship and Catholic
outreach. Re-thinking the goals of parish life, reimagining ways to “go out” to the world, incorpora ng
low-key “fireside chats,” revolu onizing youth ministry, developing dynamic intercessory prayer — these
and other simple yet energizing approaches can help
engender a rebirth of the faith and a new missionary
In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year
anniversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited
to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which
you can place the names of your loved ones: parents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests,
nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be
named, so that their memory will last forever. You
can have your own name on a leaf or choose to
name your family. Proceeds from this project will
be used for repairs of the church parking area and
parish buildings. There are both large and small
leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engraving and
moun ng of each small leaf, the dona on is
$250.00, while for each large leaf it is $400.00. The
number of leaves is limited and there may not be
enough for everyone.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21. What a be er way to honor and remember your Dad that with
Massess during the month of June! Enroll your father so he can be remembered at all Masses at

Strolling through Leicester Square in London not long
ago during week two of an amazing European vaca on,
my wife and I no ced a lot of commo on and fancy
cars. We also no ced many people on the street hurrying about with large movie boards for Disney’s recent Tomorrowland. Gail asked a guard standing nearby for the details. He said it
was the European debut of the film. She asked if any big names were
in for it. “George Clooney,” he said. Figuring we’d se le in for the
fes vi es, she then asked the guard when everything was going
down. “An hour ago,” he said. D’oh!
But no worries, because we’re home now, and just this past Friday
night, Gail and I met each other a er work at the Pickwick Theater in
Park Ridge to see what was behind all that hoopla across the pond.
It’s funny, though. As we se led into our seats, she whispered to
me, “I don’t know anything about this film…” Beyond our common

back the same. While we both enjoyed the movie, we also found it a
bit disjointed, so we gave it two stars. It wasn’t un l we read a minireview in the Chicago Tribune the next day that we saw we were a
star short, at least against their ra ng of the film.
“Walt Disney perfected the 20th century’s selling of utopia, and
though it’s hard to pick just one flicker of inspira on that best summarizes Disney’s can-do philosophical insistence on a be er, cleaner
future…Tomorrowland is a front runner. Built for the Disneyland
park in 1955, it was a gleaming vision of a future full of innova on
and promise. And so, whatever its faults, (the film) is never less than
on-message, a buoyant old-school Disney-cer fied imagineering of
hopefulness.” Perhaps the reviewer didn’t go into plot details because he found the film a bit disjointed, too, but one line of dialogue
stuck in my head as the credits rolled. It was something the Clooney
character said about the young woman he was working with to resurrect the Tomorrowland project a er it failed for a lot of reasons:
“She knows how things work…”
The line resonates with me now as I consider today’s Gospel. “This is
how it is with the kingdom of God,” Jesus says, “it is as if a man were
to sca er seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day
and through it all the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not
how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit…” OK. We know about
seed variety, germina on, irriga on and such, so in some ways, we
know how this thing works. But while me may know the science of
farming, it’s s ll a faith-based endeavor, grounded in hope. Just as
the mustard plant grows from a ny seed, God’s kingdom grows
from ny acts of love performed by the likes of you and me across
the millenniums. We don’t have to worry about the results of our
discipleship, as imperfect as we are at mes in emula ng the Christ.
We just have to keep making choices for the good, trus ng that in
the cosmic scheme, God know precisely how things work. In this context, Tomorrowland’s never been in be er hands.

Jezusowego w
Najświętszym Sakramencie była Aniela de
Sainte-Croix.
Będąc jeszcze w nowicjacie doszła do wniosku, że skoro maj jest
poświęcony Matce Bożej, to czerwiec należy ofiarować Sercu Jezusowemu.
Podzieliła się tym spostrzeżeniem z wychowawczynią i koleżankami. Przychylnie odniosła się do
niej przełożona klasztoru, a następnie biskup
paryski. Czerwiec okazał się idealnym miesiącem na
nabożeństwa gdyż właśnie wtedy przypada
Uroczystość Serca Pana Jezusa.
W Polsce po raz pierwszy nabożeństwa czerwcowe
zaczęto odmawiać w 1857r. Natomiast dopiero po
16 latach w 1873r Pius IX zatwierdził nabożeństwo
jako oficjalną modlitwę Kościoła.
Nabożeństwo czerwcowe polega na uwielbieniu i
oddawaniu czci Najświętszemu Sercu Jezusowemu
ukrytemu w Najświętszym Sakramencie. Następnie
zostaje czytana lub śpiewana litania
do Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego. Po litanii ksiądz
lub diakon prowadzący odczytuje Akt poświęcenia
rodzaju ludzkiego Sercu Jezusowemu.
Po akcie następuje pieśń "Przed tak wielkim Sakramencie", modlitwa oraz błogosławieństwo
Najświętszym
Sakramentem.

St. Constance Parish is a prayerful, caring, and welcoming

Parafia Św. Konstancji jest modlitewną, opiekuńczą i otwartą na
wszystkich wspólnotą Kościoła Rzymsko-Katolickiego. Parafia, która
została założona w 1916 r., przez polskich emigrantów, obecnie jest
zróżnicowana kulturowo. Jako wspólnota parafialna tak podejmujemy
nasze zadania, aby jeszcze lepiej dzielić się naszymi talentami, czasem i

SACRAMENTAL LIFE
INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH
Bap sms… We celebrate Bap sms in the English language
on the first and third Sundays and in the Polish language
on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Parents
must par cipate in a Bap smal prepara on mee ng
before a date can be scheduled. To register for a mee ng
call the rectory secretary.
Weddings… The Archdiocese of Chicago requires
arrangements for weddings be made four months in
advance. We at St. Constance strongly recommend at least
six months before the date of marriage. You will need
to meet with our deacon / priest before any other
arrangements are made. Call the rectory for an
appointment.
Sacrament of the Sick… Call the Rectory to make
arrangements for a priest. Please do not wait un l the
person is unconscious or near death.
Communion Calls… If you or someone you love are ill or
home bound and would like to receive Communion, call
the rectory to make arrangements for regular visits.
Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i
polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w
języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są
zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego
sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o
skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu.
Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które
planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura
parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu. Chcielibyśmy i
usilnie zalecamy, aby w naszej parafii okres przygotowania trwać sześć
miesięcy. Prosimy, abyście najpierw ustalili termin w kościele, a następnie
w innych miejscach. Zapraszamy więc do naszego biura parafialnego
najwcześniej jak tylko jest to możliwe .
Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych… Prosimy o kontakt z księdzem w celu
ustalenia terminu przyjęcia tego sakramentu. Przypominamy, że nie wolno
zwlekać z udzieleniem sakramentu chorych do momentu kiedy osoba
będzie nieprzytomna lub bliska śmierci.
Komunia Święta dla chorych… Jeśli ktoś z was lub waszych bliskich
choruje i chciałby przyjąć Komunię Świętą, to prosimy o zgłoszenie osoby
chorej do biura parafialnego, do osoby odpowiedzialnej za Duszpasterstwo
chorych, aby ustalić datę odwiedzin w domu.
