What is FWL?
A community-wide Shop Local scavenger
hunt hosted by ABA-member bookstores
with participation from dozens and dozens of
merchants in their towns. In July 2014, Waldo
spotters, young and old, are eligible for prizes
throughout the month. The hunt culminates with
a grand ceremony held at your store.
What are the requirements for host
bookstores?
Participating bookstores agree to:
• pre-register online by March 15, 2014 at
indiebound.org/findwaldolocal
• place a 40+ copy Waldo book supporting order
by April 15, 2014
• dedicate a store window and/or in-store display
to FWL during July 2014
• host a Waldo celebratory event at the end of
July 2014

What’s new
for 2014?
New Character
Waldo spotters will
be searching for a
new character in
July 2014 — Woof,
Waldo’s best friend
and most loyal companion. Woof’s gone missing
somewhere in your bookstore. Where can he be?
Event Kit Enhancements
Our FWL ’14 event kit will be more robust than
ever, including a new mini standee, new prizes,
and new activities for your Waldo-palooza parties.
Plus, we’re bringing back the prize buttons!
Flexibility
The FWL $100 additional co-op pool can be used
for ANY expenses related to FWL, including party
supplies, copying costs, coupon redemptions, etc.
The $1 off Waldo book coupons will have an
expanded redemption period (the entire summer)
and can be distributed to ALL participating Waldo
seekers (not limited to first 100).

“The ABA is glad to partner again with Candlewick Press on their
third year of FIND WALDO LOCAL and applauds Candlewick
for this creative promotion. Stores who held scavenger hunts
established stronger relationships with their local businesses,
brought smiles to thousands of children, and sold lots of
books. We encourage bookstores to participate again in 2014!”
