We are waing to organise presenters which is why we don’t have a definite date yet. Will let you know asap! GREAT TO SEE such a good response to the cheerleading/dancing group that is happening on a Wednesday. The kids looked very engaged yesterday and seemed to be enjoying the new experience. THANKS FOR the great support we have had for the Ferntree Gully Nissan Raffle. All the cket sales go back to the school so it is a great way of raising money. We are also starng preparaons for our Walkathon which is currently scheduled for the 19th of October, weather permi;ng. The walkathon has been kicked off by our grant applicaon to the CUA for a Media Centre. If you are not a face book member you would have missed the call to vote! Please take a minute to vote at hAp://www.cuacommunitycare.com.au for our school to have a chance to win the $5000 grant. Details of the submission are on the website. When we start our sponsorship fundraising for the walkathon – we will let you know beforehand, what we are raising money for. We have spent a lot of me discussing our way forward in ICT (and this is what our curriculum day is about) and so we will spend the money in that area! Whilst some of our fundraising in the past has been to help out the school, our goal for fundraising in the future is to purchase items that have a direct result on our children!! Alison Smith and Ronnie Terjesen have been researching whole school spelling programs and this is where Marg is going to spend the Ferntree Gully Nissan money. It is great to be in this posion and we will make sure we pass such informaon on. In the past the PFA have made many purchases with their fundraising, that has a direct impact for the students (e.g. playground, sports uniforms, ukulele's , art supplies, ball machine) to name a few. We appreciate all the support we get in this area! THANKS WATTLEVIEW COMMUNITY! PLEASE be aware that our staff car park is not to be used to pickup and drop off students at school. Have a great weekend – yes almost the end of another week! Only 149 days to Christmas ……..just saying! PERMISSION FORMS/ PAYMENTS DUE School Materials Charge 2016—$320.00 per child. We had so much fun creating aquariums from “Finding Dory” as children went crazy using glitter and other materials in them. Week 3&4, Term 3 This week our Cubby House has cropped up and children will be painting and decorating it, while doing pretend play with animals, puppets, mums and dads. Some children have been keen to look at time so we will be making clocks and learning to read time. We will also be making wrapping paper and learn to gift wrap on special occasions. That sounds so exciting!! Smith Family Fundraiser Dear Families We are raising funds to support The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program to provide disadvantaged children with education essentials (e.g. books, bags, uniforms) and learning support. Our not for profit organisation, the Camp Australia Foundation will proudly match every dollar raised. Please help us support the education of disadvantaged Australian children. Manisha and Tessa have put together some great ideas to raise awareness in children and make it enjoyable for them. We will be running this over 7 weeks till end of Term 3 and every week we will have a different topic including a variety of games and activities giving children lots of choice, also making the program inclusive and interesting. For children to participate they will need to give a dollar donation at the beginning of each week and will subsequently be allowed to participate in any fundraising activities taking place that week. Children will be rewarded with lots of prizes and incentives and a fundraising board will record their participation and achievements. All ideas have been collated with child contribution and interests. We look forward to all your support and encouragement. A donation box has been made by children and placed near the sign in book for collections made. We’re here to make after school care visits the best experience possible – for you and your child. If you have any questions about the program – please feel free to drop by, meet the team and see what happens in after school care first hand. We look forward to seeing you soon. They will need to bring the music that they require to Lipsync to as they will be pracsing at recess and lunchmes in an area within the school that they can plug a C.D player into. I (Linda Elijah) will be making myself available on Monday and Wednesday Lunch mes to allow students in, to pracce in my room or an area of the BER! Other members of staff may also offer to do this from me to me if approached. Should your child wish to take part in the Lipsync BaAle they might ask you to help with cardboard guitars or any instruments they might require to be made from cardboard, they could ask you for a costume idea. There is no need to buy anything, kids have lots of stuff that can be used, simple t-shirts and jeans are just a suggeson. The whole idea of this BaAle is to teach and encourage team work, organisaon skills and one of our key values here at WaAleview… Ge;ng Along! They will be judged at a mini concert at the end of the term where teachers will be the judges and the final 2 will perform at an assembly resulng in our winner or winners!
