Friends of Maclay,
Welcome to a special night in the South. The yearly Auction is an
event produced through months of love and dedication for the
benefit of Maclay School and her students. The investment in
education is the only one that guarantees top results and exponential returns. Tonight we come together to invest in our school,
our own, Miracle on Meridian. Thank you for taking the time to
spend with friends and make a difference in the lives of Maclay
students and our future.
I cannot go any further without recognizing the force behind this
spectacular event, Sara Merrill. As with any exceptional leader,
Sara surrounded herself with a talented team that raised the bar
in every way. Sara, has always humbly deferred praise to her team
but her leadership is inspiring and appreciated. This wonderful
team of volunteers have put in countless hours of work for Maclay.
I and the school are so very thankful.
Please enjoy your time tonight and thank you in advance for your
generosity and spirited bidding as we take another step into our
future.
Ever forward,
James Milford
Head of School
Dear Maclay Friends, Welcome y'all, to Maclay's Southern Soiree! Sweet tea,
magnolias, bow ties - and so much more! This is such a special
time for Maclay family and friends to enjoy an evening of delight
and fun, and to celebrate and promote “our dear Maclay.”
An exciting addition this year is mobile bidding. No more
hovering over bid sheets. Just register your smartphone with any
bidding assistant and start bidding. You’ll receive text messages
when you have been outbid. So bid often and bid high!
As you know, this evening is not possible without “The
Committee Members.” With bright ideas and hard work, they are
the folks who cheerfully gather the myriad of details, large and
small, and turn them into a spectacular event. We've had great,
good fun - and now, we hope you do too!
Of course, your participation is the key - as donors,
sponsors, contributors of fantastic auction items, and as gleeful,
generous bidders. Thank you, Thank you!
Very best to you ~
Sara Merrill

Mobile Bidding -
The Silent Auction Transformed
The Southern Soiree’ team is pleased to introduce Mobile Bidding
at this year's auction, allowing for a completely paperless bidding system. With
mobile bidding, you will bid electronically on silent auction items using your
smartphone, tablet (iPad, Samsung Galaxy, etc.) or iPad bidding stations
available at the event. You can easily track your desired items by following
their activity from your mobile device, without having to return to the actual
item. There will be no auction bidding sheets on the display tables, which will
eliminate overcrowding around auction items. Mobile bidding will make the
event run more efficiently from registration to checkout.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of mobile bidding?
1. All silent auction items are available online or on your mobile device.
2. Once bidding starts, you will be alerted on your mobile device when you
have been outbid, so you can instantly respond with another bid.
3. Bidding can occur at any location within the auction itself, whether you are in
line for the bar or mingling with friends. You do not have to be at the display
tables to make a bid.
4. All auction bidding will be tracked, displayed and announced in real time
throughout the evening.
How can I participate in mobile bidding?
To participate in mobile bidding simply register your mobile device at check-in.
What about attendees who don't own or don't wish to use mobile devices?
IPads will be available on-site for those that don’t own or don’t wish to use
a mobile device. Volunteers will be available to assist with questions and
uncertainties.
Mobile Bidding instructions
1. REGISTER YOUR SMARTPHONE
•When you arrive at the event a bidding assistant will confirm your mobile phone number and email address. You will also be able to register your credit card for express check-out.
•Not attending, but want to bid?
Register online at https://maclay.ejoinme.org/remotebids
by March 27th at 3pm*. You’ll receive a bid number and the URL to place your bids beginning at 6:00pm on Saturday, March 28th. (*Be
cause registration has to be processed, we cannot accept remote bidding registration after 3pm on Friday, March 27th.)
•Once your smartphone is registered, you’ll receive an automated
welcome text message confirming your bidder URL within one minute. If you don’t receive a text message, see any volunteer or bidding
assistant.
2. USE YOUR SMARTPHONE TO FIND
SILENT AUCTION ITEMS
•Click on the link in your automated text message- this link also contains your bidder number. Once you are logged in, the bidder number will display on your home screen.
•When prompted, confirm your name. If the name displayed isn’t
correct, see a Bid Assistant registration volunteer.
•Search for silent auction items by number, keyword or category- or find items with no bids at “No Bid Packages”.
3. START BIDDING
•Select “Details/Bid” to bid on an item.
•You can bid the next increment, set a maximum bid or simply choose to “Watch” silent auction items. If you enter your highest maximum bid on an item, they system will automatically place bids in your favor until that amount is reached or until the auction closes. If your bid is lower than the highest max bid on that item, you’ll be prompted to enter a higher bid.
3. START BIDDING CONTINUED
•If you’re outbid at any point before the silent auction closes, you’ll be notified by text message.
•You can keep an eye on packages you’ve bid on or are watching by going to “My Bids” via the blue button located at the right of your home area.
•Watch the event timer on the upper left of your screen. As soon as the silent auction closes, the guest with the highest bid will win.
4.MAKE A GENERAL DONATION
•Click on the “Donate” button on your home screen and choose
a pre-set amount, or enter the amount your wish to donate and
click “Submit.”
5. NO SMARTPHONE? NO PROBLEM.
•Simply find one of the many Bid Assistants throughout the silent auction area.
•Give the Bid Assistant your bidder number or cell phone number,
and confirm your name on the screen is correct.
•Provide the number/name of the item you wish to bid on, and tell
the assistant how much you’d like to bid.
•Watch our leader board to see if you’re the high bidder.
•If you’re outbid, locate a Bid Assistant to increase your bid.
6. AFTER THE SILENT AUCTION CLOSES
•Check to see which items you’ve won under “My Bids”.
•If you’re attending Southern Soiree’, your items will be avail
able for pickup when you check out. If you aren’t attending, we will contact you on Monday, March 30 to arrange pickup.
