Marks 8th Centenary
I
nvitations have been sent out for the
Second Poor Clare Dinner and Auction
on the Solemnity of St. Clare, the 11th of
August 2011 and is part of the Omaha celebration of the 8th Centenary Foundation
of the Order of St. Clare. “An Evening in
Assisi” is the theme of the event to be held
at the Mainelli Center of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. It starts at 6:00 p.m. with a Social
Hour and mini super silent auction. An Italian
dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by
oral auction and raffle drawing.
Honorary Chairpersons are Deryl and Ramona Hamann; with Brandi Petersen as Master
of Ceremonies; and Scott Moore, Auctioneer. Event Chairpersons, Ruth Ann and Ron
Popp have hosted a series of meetings at the
Sun Room of Wheatfields, where Chairpersons of the different Committees have put
together the plans for a successful and enjoyable “Evening in Assisi” that also aims to raise
the urgently needed funds for the completion
of the monastery building project of the Poor
Clare Sisters.

Larry Reding printed the invitations designed by Phil Labadie, and sent out in the mail by Lu Vavak of Direct Touch
Marketing Group. It included a reply card for reservations
to be sent to Maureen Raynor, chairperson for reservations.
A menu card was also sent with the invitation. Carmen and
Tony Messineo of Valentino’s took charge of preparing
the menu for the Italian dinner, with Rotella Italian rolls,
and a dessert trio by Wheatfields.
Bea Haney, SFO, and her committee are all set for
the special centerpieces and table decorations and setting for “An Evening in Assisi”. The special items donated for the super silent auction and oral auction are
under the care of Elaine Martin and Denise Snodgrass,
who are co-chairpersons for the auction. Michele Lindschmidt of the Omaha State Bank is the treasurer and
finance chairperson, and works in coordination with
Karen Popp, chairperson for records and acknowledgements. Chairpersons for the raffle and corporate tables are
Connie Cosentino and Tom Ackley, respectively. Erika
Hanson is working on a DVD presentation for the evening.

SFO Profession
Bea Haney and Melinda Glover were admitted to profession of the Rule of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) as members of the St. Clare
Fraternity on Pentecost Sunday, the 12th of June 2011. Rev. Norman Francis Hunke presided at the Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Profession

Milestones in Formation
Kathleen Raiti Hawkins was accepted to be
a Postulant of the Franciscan Monastery of St.
Clare on June 26, 2011.
She received the Postulant dress at the Evening
Prayer 1 of the Solemnity of the Body and
Blood of Christ. Sister
Kathleen is from Houston, Texas.

On the 1st of July 2011, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart
of Jesus, Sister Rosalie A. Savarimuthu was accepted into
the Novitiate. The simple investiture was held at the conclusion of the 9 a.m. Eucharistic Celebration presided by Rt.
Reverend Abbot Theodore Wolff, OSB. It included the interrogation, the blessing of the habit, cord, and white veil that
was given to Sister Rosalie by Sister Mary Clare, together
with a copy of the Gospel Way of St. Clare, or the Rule and
Constituions. In preparation for her entry into the novitiate,
Sister Rosalie was given a 5 day retreat by Sister Theresina at
St. Benedict’s Retreat Center in Schuyler, Nebraska.
Sister Rosalie receives the habit and the Rule from Sister Mary Clare.
Sister Rosalie returns to the chapel wearing the habit, and receives the
name: Sister Rosalie of the Sacred Heart, OSC.

Raffle Fundraiser Goes Full-Swing!
The grand prize for this year’s raffle fundraiser is a 2011
red Volkswagen Jetta. Ticket sales of $10 for one, or three
for $25 have been scheduled in ten parishes from June 19
to August 7. The red Jetta is brought to the parish church
scheduled for ticket sales on the weekend Masses. Those
who have been helping Connie Cosentino are Ruth Ann
and Ron Popp, Carm Cosentino, Sheila Gleason, Mary
Lewis, Marcy Peterson, Pat Hayes, Pam Buhl, Mary Beth
Barmettler, Betty Zaller, Dawn Zaller, Carol Keefover,
Phil Labadie, Bill Berry, and David Zebolsky. Among the
Sisters who take their turn to sell raffle tickets are: Sister
Mary Clare Brown, Sister Maria Czerwien, Sister Virginia
Hassing, Sister Linda Pamulo, Sister Kathleen Hawkins,
and Sister Theresina. Tickets were also sold at the First
Bel Air Festival on Father’s Day, the 19th of June 2011.
Michele Lindschmidt organized it for us, and we experienced the warm hospitality of Omaha State Bank that afternoon.
The Poor Clare Sisters of Omaha are deeply grateful to

Mark Your Calendars!
The Second Christmas Concert has been set for the 6th of December,
2011. It will be held at Christ the King Church 7:00-8:30 p.m.
The Concert will feature the young artists of “The frontier string
ensemble” of the Omaha conservatory of music. Like the two previous
concerts, tickets will be at $15 for adults, and $5 for children 12 years
and younger and will be available at the Monastery, Wheatfields,
and the Omaha conservatory of music.
