Verdell Primeaux and Johnny Mike
Story of Verdell Primeaux’s Healing
by his father and Father Peyote
The imagery here suggests
the seven paths to Wakan
Tanka in the two figures
on the sides, and the image
in the center is likely a
representation of Jesus as
one of the manifestations
of Wakan Tanka.
The Twins on each side of
Jesus are the Navajo
deities Monster Slayer and
Born for the Water. The
title at the top “Walk in
Beauty” is also
representative of Diné
thought.
This imagery shows how
the Native American
Church synthesizes
various forms of
spirituality.
This is Amazing
Grace sung in
both Lakota
and Diné.
These are Native American
Church chants sung in both
Navajo and Lakota lyrics.
They combine Diné and
Lakota concepts of beauty
with Christian ideas of graze
and redemption.
