Picnic Basket Dishcloth
Notes:
The Picnic Basket Dishcloth has great texture by using the raised
double crochet. Switching from front to back in sections and
then back to front gives the look of a woven basket. This is a fun
crochet that creates a great textured dishcloth and a chance
to practice a crochet stitch that isn’t as common as most. This
pattern, with a change in yarn, would be easily expanded to
create a blanket with a great drape.
FP - Raised Double Crochet stitch worked around the Front Post
of stitch below: YO, insert hook into gap between two stitches
from front to back, then around the post and out to the front
side of the work. Wrap yarn around hook and draw a loop onto
hook (pulling the hook back out the way you went in) 3 loops on
hook. Now make the dc in the normal manner (yo, draw through
2 loops, you draw through remaining 2 loops on hook).
BP - Raised Double Crochet stitch worked around the Back Post
of stitch below: YO, insert hook into gap between two stitches
from back to front, then around the post and out to the back
side of the work. Wrap yarn around hook and draw a loop onto
hook (pulling the hook back out the way you went in). 3 loops on
hook. Now make the dc in the normal manner (yo, draw through
2 loops, you draw through remaining 2 loops on hook).
