This applique is worked in 3
pieces, which are later sewn tog.
Face: in brown - [ch 7, sl st into 5th ch from hook] x 2,
ch 3, turn
row 1: sc2tog over 2nd & 3rd chs from hook, sc2tog
over center of 1st ear & next ch, sc2tog over next ch
& center of 2nd ear, sc2tog over last 2 chs, ch 1,
turn (4 sts)
row 2: sc, hdc 2, sc, ch 1, turn
row 3: sc2tog x 2, ch 1, turn (2 sts)
row 4: sc 2, ch 1, f/o with arm length tail

Antlers: in tan - [ch 5, *sl st in 2nd ch from hook &
next ch**] x 2, sl st in next ch, ch 3, rep from * to **, sl
st 4 down to very 1st ch, ch 7, rep from * to **, sl st in
next ch, [ch 3, rep from * to **, sl st in next available
ch] x 2, sl st, ch 1, f/o with arm length tail
Gauge:
Nose: in red - sc 3 into a magic circle, sl st join to first
st, f/o with tail (3 sts)
In single crochet ~ 36 sts = 4.5” (11.25 cm) and 10
rows = 1” (2.5 cm).
You’ll Need:
Use tail of nose to sew onto face. Embroider eyes
onto face. Stitch bottom of antlers to top of face with
face starting tail. Use corresponding colour tails to
sew applique onto sweater.
• Crochet Cotton Thread #10 a small amount in
brown, tan, red and white for the Rudolf Applique
• Crochet Cotton Thread #10 a small amount in white,
red, tan and black for the Santa Applique
• Crochet Cotton Thread #10 a small amount in
white, black, orange and choice hat colour for the
Frosty Applique
• 1.70mm Hook
• Tapestry Needle

This applique is worked in 2
pieces, which are later sewn tog.
The first piece works the pom pom
into the hat which is worked into the unworked sts
from row 3 of the beard, and the beard is worked into
row 2 of the face.
Start Face: in cream

pieces, which are later sewn tog.
Head: in white
row 1: sc 6 into a magic circle (6 sts)
row 2: sc 2 in next st x 6, sl st, f/o with arm length tail
(12 sts)
row 1: sc 6 into a magic circle (6 sts)
Body: in white
row 2: sc 2 in next st x 6, sl st, f/o (12 sts)
row 1: sc 6 into a magic circle (6 sts)
Start Beard: in white, starting with a slip knot - sc attach
to last st of Face (counts as first st for row 3)
row 2: hdc 2 in next st x 6, sl st, f/o with arm length tail
(12 sts)
row 3: [sc, sc 2 in next st] x 6 (18 sts)
Hat: in colour of choosing - ch 4
row 4: sc 2, [sc 2 in next st, dc 3 in next st] x 3, sc 2 in
row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook & each across, ch 1,
turn (3 sts)
next st, sc 2, sl st, f/o with arm length tail
Start Hat: in red, starting with a slip knot - sc attach to
same st as last sl st made in row 4, hdc in same st,
hdc 3, (hdc, dc) in next st, dc, (dc, tr) in next st, f/o
with arm length tail
Start Hat Pom Pom: in white, starting with a slip knot (sc, hdc 2, sc) into top of tr st from hat, ch 1, f/o with
tail
Mustache: in white - ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook,
[hdc 2 in next st, sl st] x 2, ch 1, f/o with tail
Use tail of mustache to sew onto face. Embroider
eyes and nose onto face. Use corresponding colour
tails to sew applique onto sweater.
row 2: sc 3, ch 1, turn
row 3: sc 2 in next st, sc, sc 2 in next st, ch 1, f/o with
arm length tail (5 sts)
Nose: in orange - ch 3
row 1: sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc, ch 1, f/o with tail
(2 sts)
Use tail of nose to sew onto face. Sew first 3 sts of
Head onto first 3 sts of Body, and middle 3 bottom sts
of Hat onto top of Head. Embroider eyes onto face,
and buttons onto the body. Use corresponding colour
tails to sew applique onto sweater, and what’s left of
the white thread to embroider snowflakes.
