Crossing the Line: Sobrepasando la Línea 80 min
Abstract: This documentary looks at how Mexican, U.S. and Canadian workers have fared under
NAFTA, and how they are inventing modes of cross-border alliance to counter the corporations’
abilities to cross borders. Over four years it follows these struggles in the face of resistance from
governments, businesses and official union and despite cultural differences.
1:30-2:30
American Jobs Runtime: 60 min
Abstract: Jobs are moving to low-wage countries... is the American worker’s way of life at stake?
Disturbed by the news that three million manufacturing jobs had disappeared between 2000 and
2003, Director Greg Spotts saw firsthand the permanent, structural changes confronting America’s
blue- and white-collar families as multinational corporations take advantage of “global sourcing” to
hire the lowest-wage labor.
2:40-3:40
Crossing the Line? The Battle at America’s Border 60 min
Abstract: Hosted by Lester Holt. The program uses two men to present most of the story behind
illegal immigration. One is Tim Donnelly, founder of the Minuteman of California. The other is
Enrique Marones, the leader of the Border Angels, which opposes the efforts of the Minutemen to
close the border.
3:50-4:20
Dying to Live: A Migrant’s Journey 33 min
Film Courtesy of Dr. Daniel Groody, Center for Latino Spirituality and Culture (CLSC)
University of Notre Dame
Abstract: Immigration is a complex issue that is changing the face of cultures worldwide.
In the face of many social, economic, political issues, what often gets lost are

CIUDAD JUAREZ TOURIST INFORMATION
PAQUIME— Located in the beautiful valley of Nuevo Casas Grandes. This amazing pre-Hispanic
city of amazing urbanization is the most important archaeological site of the Northern México.
This civilization bloomed between 900 and 1200. For its historical importance, Paquimé was
recently named Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO, in a ceremony that attracted visitors
worldwide. When the Spaniards first arrived at these lands, the city was almost 200 years old. Their
buildings consisted until of five floors, with alcoves and interior stairs. This site is characterized
by its doors in form of “T”, its system of supplying and distribution of water, as well as by the
production of exquisite multi-formed poly-chrome pottery.
HISTORICAL ART MUSEUM — This museum was established in 1964. The design of the
enclosure was done by the recognized Mexican Architect Pedro Ramirez Vázquez. This collection
contains more representations of Mexican Plastic Work and features the biggest variation of artists
in our century than any other collection in Mexico. This collection also contains more archaeological
pieces representational of the national culture than any of its kind. This fine museum serves a frame
for cultural events, like book presentations and conferences with exhibitors that are recognized
worldwide.
HISTORICAL MUSEUM OF THE CUSTOMS HOUSE— This museum is located with in one
of the oldest sectors in Juárez. The buildings itself is one of the oldest and represents the traditional
architecture. It was constructed at the end of the XIX century and it was inaugurated September the
10th of 1889. It is of French style and it was occupied many years by the U.S. Customs and Border
Agency. In this museum the interview between the Presidents of Mexico and the United States,
Porfirio Diaz and William Taft, to deal with the subjects of bi-national interests, such as the return
of the territory known as the Chamizal tract in October of 1909. Also remembered here, 17 May of
1911, the resignation of Porfirio Diaz after the taking of the City Juárez by the revolutionary army
commanded by Francisco I. Madero.
ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM—This museum is located in the interior of the Chamizal Park.
Count with great delight, the amount of original pieces depicting various Hispanic Cultures and the
rest of Mexico’s history.
CHAMIZAL PARK— The Chamizal Treaty of 1963 was a milestone in diplomatic relations
between Mexico and the United States. Chamizal National Memorial was established to
commemorate this treaty which resulted in the peaceful settlement of a century-long boundary
dispute between the neighboring countries. Far more than mere acreage, Chamizal is an idea, a
dynamic process, dedicated to furthering the spirit of understanding and goodwill between two
nations that share one border. The settlement of the Chamizal dispute one of the rare instances where
boundary disputes that was settled peacefully.
