Our Pres BRYAN ended the meeting with the unpleasant
task of reminding the membership that the PIZZA CAN
is being ignored… This past month’s tally was not
enough to fund the FOOD FEST that everyone looks
forward to after each meeting.
The members were ‘encouraged’ to always throw a
couple bucks into the ‘bigger bright red PIZZA CAN’
as we spend upwards of 80 bucks each month on the
super-duper pizzas, drinks and all the
rest of the goodies.

Dear Friends...
Snow was in the air the other day, and as we bid our cars a quick "till spring," we
also close this season at Mid-State. My many thanks for a great one! You made it happen!
And now, on to next year! I look forward to serving Mid-State as its President for the 2011 year, and
I express my sincerest appreciation for your trust. Let the ideas be forthcoming!
I also want to remind you all that our annual Christmas/Holiday party will be held the first Monday of
December, beginning at 6:00 P.M., at the Knights of Columbus, Rte. 117 (Lancaster St.), Leominster!
We're combining the December festivities with our annual meeting! This is an evening NOT TO BE
MISSED! So, don't forget and show up at Crossroads, as the empty parking lot will not be so
fun. Instead, at the K of C, there will await a fully catered meal, for $10.00 per person /$20.00 per
couple! An awesome night of fun and games! Don't forget the $10-$15 Yankee Swap gift (wrapped, so
that the "strategy exchanges" can begin), and the gift for the children's charity (unwrapped, but with a gift
bag/wrapping with it). There is still time to register for the party, so please get your checks to Gary!
Dues are also due... $20.00 / FAMILY - a good bargain! Getting them paid early helps everyone!
I wish everyone the Merriest of Christmases, the Happiest of Hanukkahs to our Jewish friends, the
Best Holiday Season, and the most awesome Auld Lang Syne for 2011!
Warm regards, Bryan Le Blanc President

NOVEMBER GUEST SPEAKERS - Dave & Lisa Simard
Dave is a local Leominster guy who has been “into street-rods” since before the time he could legally
drive. Matter of fact, he lived on the same street as EMERY in his younger years and is sure that as he
drove home, past EMERY’S house, he woke the entire neighborhood with his ‘hot rod’ rumble !!!
Dave has made quite a few trips to the west coast in recent years - all related to the hot-rod world - and has
spent a couple summers chasing the various “speed records” at El Mirage and
Bonneville Salt Flats time trials. He had quite a few pictures of the cars he drove out
there and many stories for the membership.
Dave’s latest attempt, during the annual Speed week / Bonneville Salt Flats time trials
last August, was a speed record in a flathead V8 powered Ford roadster. He was
successful getting into the low 150’s (mph…) but not into the record books – a couple
more mph is all it would have taken to get there. Anything over 150 mph, he says, is
pretty remarkable since nursing those flatheads to a ‘top speed’ is not the same as
dropping a hi-po crate engine into a newer car and easily hitting 200mph as some of
the other drivers do. The course itself is about ten miles long – a straight shot across
the sand into the horizon – with a couple miles of “getting it up to speed” then the
timed mile and another couple of miles to “slow back down”. The speed and time are
recorded electronically and the car needs to do 2 successful runs to set any official
record; the “official speed” is then the average of those two runs.
Well known in the Hot-Rodder’s world, Dave, had a few other interesting “left coast” stories
including his trip to Gardena, CA to visit and finally buy an engine from Ed Iskenderian to be
used in his original ‘belly tank’ car or lakester that Dave bought some years ago. Seems that
Mr.Iskenderian is still spry enough, at age 92, to jump on the tow-motor and load the engine
onto Dave’s truck all by himself !!! Of course, we all recognize the name … Isky Cams - a
business that is still thriving some 55 years after being one of those early hot-rodders’ required
equipment – just remembering… Isky Cams, Moon Eyes, Mr. Horespower...and all the rest of
those decals !!!
The presentation finished with Dave holding a Q&A session and received a round of applause from the
membership. He reminded the membership that an Antique Auto Appraisal for our ‘specialty cars & trucks’
is the only way to guarantee their value for an insurance ‘agreed value’ policy … Lisa Simard does this out of
their shop on Lancaster Street in Leominster... 978 413-1635 or 978 537-9474.

WRAPPING UP THE YEAR 2010
Our ‘BACK PAGES’ Sponsors continue to help our club stay a-float !!!
Two more 5 YEAR SPONSORS for 2010 !!! - For the last 10 years or so, your club has enjoyed the support
of dedicated members who ‘kick-in’ some extra bucks from their business coffers to see that our club stays
financially healthy. This month, we present the last two of our 2010 -Back Page Sponsors who celebrate
five years of continuous support.
I.C. FEDRAL CREDIT UNION – BRIAN CORMIER – A five year sponsor, IC Credit Union has branches in almost
every nearby town and has been a supporter of our club not only in the ‘back
pages’ but also for our annual Father’s Day events. Brian Cormier, located in
the Mortgage Office on Whalon Street is the person to see for any mortgage /
loan needs – he can either help or direct any club member to the right department
in the IC Credit Union organization. He also
is no stranger to “old cars” having owned
an MGB for quite a few years – he knows
the joys and tribulations of getting the old
girl back on the road and the fun one has
when the “Prince of Darkness” strikes !!!
Gotta love the Lucas Electrics, eh ???
Thanks to I C Credit Union with Emery & Gary
AUDETTE’S AUTO BODY – another five
year ‘back page’ business card sponsor, from
the Rte 146, Worcester area, Audette’s is a
good size operation specializing in not only
