Paul Clervi, a William Woods University professor emeritus, was honored for 42 years of service to the university.
Jane Mudd, an assistant professor of art, painted a picture to honor him as a “visionary leader, inspirational educator
and esteemed artist.” The portrait was displayed during a reception that opened the faculty art exhibit. Clervi retired
as chairman of the Arts and Science Division last spring and now teaches sculpture and ceramics part time.

and president of the Jester’s
theatre club. Paschal continues to be involved in the
university’s theatre department and has served as a
guest director, a theatre
portfolio critic and actor.
Recently, Paschal celebrated the first anniversary
of his ownership of Gidley’s
Shoe Store in Fulton. He is
the president of the Fulton
Downtown Association,
president of Friends of the
Churchill Memorial and
social chair at the Fulton
Country Club.
He is a volunteer for the
Fulton Street Fair and the
Callaway County United
Way. He has been a guest
director at St. Peter Catholic
School and is a member of

Boone County Art Show winners
announced Sunday

COLUMBIA — Winners were announced in the Boone County Art show, which featured
300 works of art by Boone County residents and Columbia Art League members.
The show was held Saturday and Sunday at the Boone County National Bank at Eighth
Street and Broadway. It was co-sponsored by the bank and the Columbia Art League.

William Woods University’s annual faculty art exhibit will feature the talents of
Paul Clervi, Bob Elliott, Ken Greene, Terry Martin and Jane Mudd. Running
through Oct. 30, it will include sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry and
painting, including a special viewing of an independent film project “Midnight
Lyric,” by the newest member of the arts division faculty, Jason Knowles. Gallery
hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and

FINDING THAT GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD
Jane McClaren, author of “Honest Eating: How to Love Food, Love Yourself, and Love Life”
will talk about the precepts of her book about healthy eating at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in the
Library Auditorium at William Woods University in Fulton.
McClaren, who struggled with weight trouble due to depression and emotionally driven
overeating, spent time in a Texas health program and was involved in a 10-year study of food
and health.
“Americans have a bad relationship with food,” she said, “and my purpose is to rectify that
dilemma. The food industry thrives on our stress, and we have easily become victims of time and
the food industry.” McClaren earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from William
Woods University and a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Missouri-St.
Louis. She lives in Southern Pines, N.C. The event is free and open to the public, and a book

Horse Show Benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital

Murfreesboro, TN - October 6, 2010. The National Academy Championship Horse Show will hold it’s
annual competition of riders October 29-31 with all proceeds benefiting the St. Jude’s Children’s
Research Hospital. This is a 3-day, 3-round event with 3-judges to be held at Miller Coliseum in
Murfreesboro, TN. Prizes for the four divisions, Saddleseat, Western, Driving and Huntseat total $12,900
in U.S. Savings Bonds. Additionally a $1,000 Scholarship to William Woods University will be awarded
along with dozens of trophies and hundreds of ribbons. Academy riders of all ages, instructors, family,
friends and fans from all over the nation are expected to attend this event.
The National Academy Championship Horse Show was inspired by the love of children and horses in
1999 by Joyce Webster of B& W Stables in Hartselle, Alabama. Mrs. Webster decided to create the
National Academy Championship Horse Show and give all the proceeds to St. Jude's to help children with
life threatening diseases.
“Since the show’s inception we’ve proudly donated over $100,000 to St. Jude’s and made thousands of
young riders happy as they displayed their skills in front of thousands and all for a great cause”, said Mrs.
Webster.

Chris Mitchell enters his 10th year in the sports information office at Washington
University in St. Louis, and his seventh as the Bears' Director of Sports Information.
Mitchell's duties include handling the publicity of Washington University's 19 athletic
programs, serving as the primary contact for football, women's golf, women's soccer,
men's basketball, softball and men's tennis.
Mitchell also has assisted the University with other projects, such as Steve Fossett's
2001 Balloon Flight, 2004 Women's Olympic Marathon Trials, 2004 Olympic Torch
Relay, 2004 Presidential Debate, and the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate.
He also served as the Media coordinator for the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis
Championships and assisted with media relations efforts for the 17th Annual College
Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships.
Mitchell served as the assistant sports information director from 2001-03 at Washington
University prior to his promotion. Mitchell also had a stint as a Staff Assistant in the
Duke University Sports Information office from July of 2000 to May of 2001. He was the
primary contact for women's soccer, field hockey, cross-country, swimming and diving,
fencing and track and field.
A native of Granite City, Ill., Mitchell graduated from McKendree University in Lebanon,
Ill. in 1999 with a degree in speech communication. While at McKendree, Mitchell
served as a student assistant for one year and then returned as the Assistant SID the
following year. He was also a four-year captain of the men's tennis team, which qualified
for the NAIA National Tournament in 1999.
Mitchell earned his master's degree in in athletic administration from William Woods
University in 2008.
Mitchell, 33, is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)
and served as the chair of the Membership Services Committee from 2007-09. He also
served on the 2009 Bob Cousy Award Division III Sub-Committee and the 2008-09
Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four Public Relations Committee.
Mitchell is married to the former Mary Ann Tierney, sports information director at the
University of Missouri-St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS — Judy Ann Hauser Maitz, 56, of Chesterfield, Mo., died Dec. 11,
2009, at her residence.
She was a daughter of the late George Hauser and Margaret Wildberger
Hauser.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at O’Sullivan Muckle Mortuary, with
interment at 2:15 p.m. Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St.
Louis.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in forms of contributions to St.
Anthony’s Hospice or St. Louis University High School.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Carlos A. Maitz; sons Christopher

Pamela Z. (Blackman) Keilholz
Pamela Z. Keilholz, age 55, of Chamois, passed away
Friday, July 23, 2010, at her residence with her family
by her side.
Pamela was born September 1, 1954, in Columbia,
Mo., a daughter to the late Charles and Mary (Zaring)
Blackman. She was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City
High School and a 1978 graduate of Central Missouri
State University in Warrensburg. She later received her
Master's Degree in teaching from Leslie College.
Pamela taught school for 27 years with the majority of
those years being spent as an art teacher in the
Chamois Osage County R1 School District. She also
was employed part time at the Good Buys Store in
Hermann. On March 22, 1986, she was united in
marriage to Joe Keilholz, who survives of the home.
Pamela was a member of the Chamois United
Methodist Church and enjoyed ceramics, teaching,
cats, shopping, cooking and horses. She also enjoyed
the tomatoes that her husband grew for her. In addition to her husband, she is
survived by: one brother, John and his wife Martha Blackman of St. Louis; her
father and mother-in-law, Elmer and his wife Jane Keilholz Sr. of Chamois; two
brother-in-laws, David and his wife Sandra Keilholz of Chamois, and Jeffrey and his
wife Jennifer Keilholz of Chamois; two sister-in-laws, Deborah Keilholz of Fulton,
and Colleen Strope and her husband Rodney of Chamois, as well as many nieces,
nephews and friends. Pamela was preceded in death by her father and mother,
Charles and Mary Blackman. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on
Monday, July 26, 2010, at Morton Chapel in Chamois. A funeral service will be held
at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Chamois United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow at Deer Creek Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be

Ellen (Galloway ’31) Morrow
Ellen Morrow A memorial service for Ellen Morrow will be held at the Calvary Episcopal Church
in Louisiana on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Mrs. Morrow died
Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana. She was born on Jan. 7, 1911 at
Elsberry, the daughter of Floyd and Gerda Galloway. She was preceded in death by her four
brothers, Caryle, John, Dave and Ralph; and her three sisters, Edith Galloway, Virginia Cobb
and Kathryn Kelly. She was married to Kenneth Morrow until his death in 1999 and is survived
by their two children, Gary Morrow and his wife, Dessa, of St. Louis, and Pamela Morrow of
Tucson, Ariz.; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Mrs. Morrow
graduated from Elsberry High School in 1929, William Woods College in Fulton in 1931, and
Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg in 1939. A math teacher for most of
her adult life, she began her teaching career in Silex and spent the last 25 years of it at
Louisiana High School. She loved mathematics and her math students, and she helped many of
them toward successful college careers and was delighted to hear of their accomplishments.
She was active in PEO, Eastern Star, her church, and many community activities in and around
Louisiana and Clarksville. Always active and on the go she frequently surprised her family and
others with her willingness to pitch in and volunteer wherever needed. She was pleased to do
volunteer work at the Apple Shed and the Clothing Room. She loved to travel and would join a
trip to wherever whenever. She enjoyed the symphony, Loretto Hilton opera theater, playing
bridge and reading. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Ellen Morrow
Memorial Scholarship Fund (for deserving math students graduating from Louisiana High
School), in care of The Mercantile Bank, 222 Georgia Street, Louisiana, Mo. 63353.
Gordon Mallory
Gordon L. Mallory, age 71, of Exton, Pa., formerly of Edwardsville, passed away
on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and
friends.
He was the beloved husband of Faye Zenk Mallory, with whom he shared 47 years
of marriage.
Born in Edwardsville, Gordon was the son of the late Hays and Myrtle Niepert
Mallory.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University.
Before his retirement, Gordon was employed for over 20 years with Arco
Chemical Company in Houston, TX and Newtown Square. Prior to that, he worked
for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, a NASA contractor, in St. Louis, Mo. and
Houston, Texas.
He enjoyed golf and sports of all kinds.
He was a member of Whitford Country Club and served on the West Whiteland
Fire Company Board of Directors.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mallory is also survived by his sister, Myrna M. Abert
and her husband, Larry; brother, Robert Mallory; many nieces and nephews;
special friends, Regan and Cory Kirk, and G.W., his cat.
A celebration of Gordon's life will take place at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 17, at
Whitford Country Club, 600 Whitford Hills Rd., Exton, Pa., 19341.

The Owls got a hat trick from freshman Joao Paulo Dutra Parra to cruise to the
three-goal American Midwest Conference victory on Saturday. The forward scored
in the 5th and 9th minutes of the first half and added another one for good
measure in the 70th minute. Freshman Joel De Leon added the Owls other goal in
the 55th minute on an assist from junior Ruben Ramirez.
The Owls (8-3-1, 2-2) got three saves from senior goalkeeper Cory Herchenroeder.
They'll host Central Methodist tonight at 5 p.m.

Junior forward Kelsey Sanders put away two goals early in the first half to lead the
Owls to a victory on Saturday. She netted scores in the 10th and 14th minute.
Junior midfielder Kristen Pelley was the next Owl to score with senior defender
Katie Klingemann adding on and the final goals coming from junior forward Anne
Weaver and sophomore foward Dusty Maciejewski.
The win improved the Owls to 5-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the AMC. William Woods
hosts Central Methodist tonight at 7 p.m.
Owls Cross Country compete at Gary Stoner Invitational
FAYETTE -- The men's team finished in third place and the women's squad garnered
a third place finish at the race on the campus of Central Methodist University this
past Saturday. Sophomore Ryan Meyer led the Owls with a second place finish out
of 60 runners with a time of 25:44.71. Senior Jason Rose finished fifth overall with
a time of 26:04.9. The men finished with 70 points
Junior Cheryl Held finished fourth in the women's division with a fourth place finish
and 62 points. Held crossed the finish line with a time of 19:12.45, 12 second
ahead of sophomore teammate Amy Gangloff, who finished fifth with a time of
19:24.55. Both teams compete again on Oct. 23rd at the Graceland University
Invitational in Lamoni, Iowa.
Owls volleyball goes 1-3 at St. Ambrose Tournament
DAVENPORT, IOWA -- The Owls lost their first two matches Friday on the campus of
St. Ambrose University. The host team beat William Woods in five sets 29-27, 2520, 25-2121, 25-14 and 15-12.
Freshman setter Sarah Wehmeyer led the team with 29 assists during the loss with
sophomore Emily Nolte adding 25 of her own against St Ambrose. Sophomore
Amanda Henley added 28 digs and the Owls had 12 kills from senior Brianna
Rodriguez and sophomore Alicia Green. Nicole Mannino added two blocks.
The Owls went the distance again in the next game, losing to Ashford University in
four sets 25-20, 28-26, 28-26 and 25-15. The Owls lost a third straight match, and
another five setter, to St. Francis (Ill.) 25-20, 25-20, 25-9, 25-23 and 15-10 on
Saturday.
The Owls (13-14) took down Ashford by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 and
15-10. Sophomore setter Amanda Henley led the team with 27 digs during the win
while junior blocker Lauren Fleming got 17 kills, freshman setter Sarah Wehmeyer
had 23 assists.
The Owls travel to Hannibal-La Grange for American Midwest Conference play on
Friday at 7 p.m.
