DAWN

NEW ERA
JANUARY 1ST, 2010 ushered in a new year, and
the dawn of a new era for the Mouawad Group.
This symbolic date was for the official handing
over of the company reins to the fourth
generation of Mouawads.

January 1st, 2010 was chosen as the symbolic date for the
official handing over of the company reins from our father,
Robert Mouawad. This marked the transition from the
third to the fourth generation of Mouawads. Not only
were we taking over a company that had grown and
excelled under the many achievements of our father,
butalso we had become the caretakers of a 121-year
heritage of haute joaillerie. Our challenge was how to
preserve Mouawad’s eminent position as fine jewelers
while taking the brand forward to a new, ambitious
level.
As brothers, we share the same vision for Mouawad:
building on the company’s excellence in design and
craftsmanship while broadening its accessibility to a
wider global clientele. We have many plans through
which we will achieve this, some of which we have
begun to implement and some which will be revealed
in due course. This remains an exciting phase for the
Mouawad brand as we continue its dazzling ascendance
to become one of the leading fine jewelers worldwide.

philosophy. Mouawad will also refocus on bridal jewelry and diamond
solitaires to reaffirm the brand’s expertise in diamonds and to cater to
the growing demand for this segment.
At the same time, Mouawad will be increasing its number of distribution
points in the Middle East with the launching of more new generation
stores, like the new Dubai Mall and Beirut Souks boutiques, which have
been designed to incorporate the new Mouawad corporate identity.
Locations being added in the near future include Doha, Kuwait and Abu
Dhabi as well as a Saudi Arabia flagship store at Jameel Square in the
heart of Jeddah’s upscale retail destination. With an aggressive marketing
strategy, new advertising campaigns airing in print, digital media and TV,
and a world-class management team with ambitious goals, Mouawad is
capturing the aspirations of consumers and further defining the brand as
a global player.

W
ith Mouawad now in its fourth generation, wide-ranging
plans are under way to take the brand to even greater
heights. Ultimately, our aim is for Mouawad to be one of
the leading jewelers and watchmakers worldwide. This
will be achieved by broadening the appeal of the brand through offering
more contemporary lines, more choices and more attainable price points,
all while retaining the signature Mouawad attention to quality, technology
and craftsmanship.
Naturally, throughout all of these exciting developments, Mouawad will
continue its tradition of dressing A-list celebrities in the USA, Middle
East and Europe, and creating a dazzling partnership of jewels and stars.

Late in 2010, Mouawad officially opened
its first New Generation Boutique in the
UAE at The Dubai Mall. This regional
flagship store is paving the way for an
exciting period in Mouawad’s future
with new boutiques planned for the region in Doha, Kuwait and
Abu Dhabi.
“Dubai has established itself as a global retail destination, and
is home to the world’s finest brands. It is only natural that we
should establish our regional Mouawad flagship store here,” says
Fred Mouawad. “Given our regional roots, and our developed
and long-standing relationships with the region’s royal families
and distinguished individuals across the Gulf, it also brings us
closer to our clientele.”
The new store, with its redefined and distinctive décor in the
grey and gold of the Mouawad brand, will contain the exclusive
jewelry the company is renowned for — ranging from boutique
items to the magnificent haute joillerie pieces beloved by royalty
and Hollywood’s A-list. The outlet also features an exclusive
private VIP room for its customers to try on select pieces in a
comfortable and exclusive setting. Hosted by 4th generation
Co-guardians of the brand, Fred and Pascal, the event was further
honored by their father, Robert Mouawad, who officially opened
the new boutique in a ceremony for the press, VIPs, dignitaries
and other special guests.
“We are delighted we have established our first new concept
store in what is arguably one of the most stylish fashion capitals of the world,” says Pascal Mouawad. “Having already built
a loyal following with regional customers, we will be able
to introduce Mouawad to a wider global audience — from the
UAE’s cosmopolitan communities — to its wealth of international
visitors. With the addition of boutique items to complement our
statement pieces, the Mouawad mark is now within reach of
those customers could only previously only aspire to own one
of our pieces.”

June 2011 Despite its destruction in
1975, Beirut Souks has risen like the
Phoenix from the ashes and is thriving
like never before with over 200 shops,
department stores and Beirut’s largest
shopping area. This peaceful region described as “the mistress
of the world” has now regained its past glory and is once again
paving the way to becoming one of the most attractive and
dazzling shopping centers in the world.
STORE
OPENING
The Mouawads, with their long relationship with Lebanon,
wanted to take part in this great comeback of Beirut Souks by
adding a new generation Mouawad boutique to this spectacular
retail center in downtown Beirut. With the new boutique, Mouawad
not only brings their esteemed heritage of haute joillerie and of
producing exquisite pieces worn by A-list celebrities and royalty,
but also welcomes in a new age of design both in the new generation
boutiques and in modern lines and boutique collections like the
Flower of Eternity and Lava collections.
The official grand opening at Beirut Souks was honored by former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova, celebrities and VIPs and
showcased the Flower of Eternity collection; launched in 2010
by Mouawad to offer a contemporary line of jewelry to reach
a broader customer-base worldwide with prices ranging from
$950 to $22,000 USD. The Flower of Eternity collection ushers
in an exciting new market and era in the luxury brand’s history.
The collection is also the first Mouawad products to be
presented in conjunction with the new generation style revealed

2010 not only marked the 120 years of the Mouawad brand but also ushered in many new beginnings —
from the 4th generation Mouawad’s taking the helm and the launch of the first new generation boutique in
Dubai — to new designs, new advertising campaigns, new collections and a new Guinness World Record.
Now nearing the end of 2011, Mouawad is launching more collections and boutiques like the recently
opened Beirut Souks location and the upcoming boutique in Doha, further expanding the reach in the
Middle East with much more planned in 2012 and beyond.

of the Mouawad 1001
Nights Diamond Purse
MOST VALUABLE
HANDBAG IN THE
WORLD CERTIFIED BY
GUINNESS WORLD
RECORDS
WITH THE HONOR of winning its third Guinness World Record (see page 74),
Mouawad, late in 2010, began unveiling their new world record creation —
the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse — at various locations around the Middle
East and Asia. Here are a few highlights from the tour of the most valuable
handbag in the world.
At the Doha JewelLEry
& Watches Exhibition
A Modern-Day Legend
Early in 2011, the Mouawad 1001 Nights
Diamond Purse became the third Guinness
World Record received by Mouawad. With
a value of $3.8 million, Guinness named it
the most valuable handbag in the world.
Taking its inspiration from one of the world’s
most epic tales of romance, intrigue and
fantasy, Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond
Purse was always destined to become a
modern day legend in its own right. The
heart-shaped purse, handcrafted from 18k
gold, incorporates 4,517 diamonds (105
yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colorless) with
a total weight of 381.92 carats.
This bejeweled masterpiece was hand crafted
by 10 highly skilled artisans working for a
total of 8,800 hours. The exceptional level of
craftsmanship exemplified by the diamond
purse has been a hallmark of the Mouawad
name since the company was founded in
1890. From those early days Mouawad rose
to global prominence through its passion
for precious gems and mastery in the art of

creating some of the world’s most breathtaking jewelry in the world.
Pascal Mouawad explains that “like the
tales of Scheherazade that have captivated
readers for centuries with their intricately
woven plots of uninhibited passion and
daring, so the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse
is designed to mesmerize with its lavish
attention to detail and elaborate workmanship
incorporating thousands of diamonds.”
Fred Mouawad adds that “this breathtaking
creation is a unique masterpiece. Not only is
it one of a kind but it is also the world’s most
valuable, intensifying its power to enchant
those who have the privilege of wearing it.”
Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse is
the third record-breaking creation from

footsteps of the creation of the most

Sharing his passion for the Mouawad family business, Antoine
Bakhache has naturally dedicated his career to the advancement
of the luxury jewelry industry.
Nephew of industry great Robert Mouawad, Antoine completed
his bachelor’s degree in business administration in the United
States, and, like his cousins, Fred and Pascal Mouawad, pursued
his graduate degree in gemology at the prestigious Gemological
Institute of America (GIA). Armed with both technical skill
and business knowhow, Antoine entered the jewelry market.
Sensing the potential for growth in the Asian market, Antoine
joined with cousin Jean Nasr to establish Wilsa to represent
the Mouawad Group in Malaysia and Singapore. With their
love for the business and valuable expertise, the two Mouawad nephews are responsible for
elevating the profile of the master jewelry house in the two neighbouring countries.
Antoine’s heart always at the art and business of gemstones, exclaiming, “I love everything about
this business — from the products to the customers, and, of course, the glamour! This is the only
business I know where you continually deal with happy customers!”

HOLLYWOOD CONNECTION
“SHE DESERVES NOTHING LESS: THE NEW MOUAWAD ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN,
SPEAKS TO ALL WOMEN WHO ARE DISCERNING ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THEY
DESERVE TO BE ADORNED IN THE FINEST JEWELS OF THE WORLD.”
It could be a glamorous celebrity sashaying down the red carpet, a
member of royalty at a sumptuous state banquet or a beautiful model
at a society event but one thing is for sure: Mouawad jewelry is worn by
women who understand the value of quality, design and craftsmanship.
— Pascal Mouawad
Their choice of Mouawad is no coincidence. It is born of an appreciation
of the brand’s 121 years of heritage which collectively translate into a
bond of trust between jeweler and clientele. Likewise, it is supported by
the luxury of an after sales service that is resolutely customer-centric;
equally it is enriched by the knowledge that every piece of jewelry is
both contemporary and yet timeless.
She Deserves Nothing Less, the new Mouawad advertising campaign,
speaks to all women who are discerning enough to believe they deserve
to be adorned in the finest jewels in the world. Seen through the exquisite
and elegant nature of the Mouawad jewelry worn by former Miss Chile,
Gabriella Barros, the “She Deserves Nothing Less” commercial conveys
the message that whether a man buying a gift for a loved one or a
woman buying for herself, the decision to choose Mouawad is to buy
the finest there is. O Paris Hilton & Pascal Mouawad

a century, beginning with first generation David
Mouawad’s mastery of creating fine timepieces
for prestigious clientele.
“In the past 121 years the Mouawad family has
developed its innate passion for fine jewels and
horology into renowned global brands such as
the Mouawad Group and Robergé,” said Pascal
Mouawad. “The masterpieces created under
these names are destined for a discerning clientele
that recognizes excellence in its field. ”

Robergé into the future.
S
ince 1972, Robergé has been producing some of the world’s finest
masterpieces of time. Today, more than three decades later, the luxury
Swiss watch brand is entering a new era in its quest for horological
perfection. On January 1st, 2010 fourth generation family members Fred
and Pascal Mouawad took over the reins of Robergé as well as the Mouawad
Group from their father Robert, after his decision to retire and devote his time to
the Robert Mouawad Foundation and the Robert Mouawad Real Estate Group.
“Since its beginnings, Robergé has always been at the forefront of innovation,”
said Fred Mouawad. “We believe that it is the right time to bring Robergé into
the future while retaining its core values of blending excellence in craftsmanship
with meticulous selections of some of the world’s finest gems.”
Robergé was founded by Robert Mouawad, brilliantly combining his innate
passion for diamonds with the centuries-old Swiss tradition of horology. This
luxurious partnership is symbolized in the name Robergé — an amalgamation
of Robert and Geneva. The watch-making tradition, just as that of crafting fine
jewelry, has been nurtured by generations of the Mouawad family for more than
34
The superior attention to detail characteristic
of all Mouawad jewelry is equally central to the
Robergé brand. These handcrafted watches,
produced in only limited numbers each year,
embody the highest levels of technological
innovation. The true instinct of a master
craftsman is ever-present in the daring
masterpieces that bear the name Robergé.
Tourbillions, automatic movements with over
72-hour power reserves, fine chiming minute
repeaters, and exceptional hand-worked
movements are all present in the brand.
To produce such fine examples of timekeeping
requires precise skills, nurtured by the right
surroundings. In the late 1990s Robert Mouawad
acquired a watch case production facility in
Les Breuleux, a town in the Swiss Joux Valley
famed for its watch-making traditions, from
where every Robergé timepiece is handcrafted
today. Each masterpiece that is crafted bearing
the Robergé name also carries the hallmark
“Manufacturé en Suisse," which certifies its
controlled origin.

THE SPIRIT OF ECSTASY
Late in 2011, Mouawad collaborated with the world’s
most exclusive automobile maker to create a one-of-akind Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament never
before seen. The signature Rolls-Royce bonnet emblem,
known around the globe as the Spirit of Ecstasy—the
iconic symbol that graces the front of all Phantom and
Ghost models.
As legendary diamond experts, Mouawad, wanted to
recognize the iconic figurine by encasing it in diamonds,
creating a full pavé version to mark the centennial
celebration of the legendary flying lady. Three of Mouawad’s
master craftsmen spent 350 hours meticulously arranging
and placing 2,300 round brilliant-cut diamonds onto the
Spirit of Ecstasy to create a truly unique version of the
symbol in commemoration of its centenary.

ROSETTE™
COLLECTION
CLASSIC MOTIFS MEET EXTRAORDINARY GEMSTONES
Since its debut, the Rosette collection has emerged as an iconic symbol of Mouawad Jewelry that continues to permeate
celebrity culture. Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Naomi Campbell and Paris Hilton are among the many stars to be
photographed wearing designs from the collection.
Featuring rose-cut stones set in 18 karat white gold, the Rosette pieces are easy to wear day and night. Fun and wonderfully
versatile, and with a classic charm all its own, this collection sparkles with Mouawad diamonds, rubies and sapphires.
Painstakingly crafted in pavé sets, Rosette uses a vintage cut to elaborate on a thoroughly modern design. Ranging from
signature interchangeable heart lockets, to earrings, necklaces, pendants, rings and bracelets, Rosette’s look is as eclectic
as it is infinitely desirable.
Mouawad has launched an extension of this popular collection to make it even more comprehensive and offer more
variations including select models in rose gold and new models combining the classic rose motif with the three hearts from

THREE HEARTS, ONE FLOWER … AN ETERNITY OF PASSION
Making its grand debut in 2010, the Flower of Eternity collection continues Mouawad’s tradition of passion for excellence,
through a stylish line of jewelry that exudes contemporary glamour.
Crafted from 18 karat yellow, rose and white gold, and set with diamonds and colored gemstones, the Flower of Eternity
collection ranges from simple pendants to ornate four-piece sets. The result is a selection of iconic pieces perfect for every
mood — from daytime chic to the most dazzling evening sophistication.
Studied carefully, the flower emblem present in each piece reveals its composition of heart shapes. The heart, chosen as
a universally recognized emblem of love and passion, appears three times, a symbolic number representing the past, the
present and the future, denoting a promise of eternity.
The Mouawad name also pays tribute to these three dimensions of time in all it creates, combining a respect for its heritage
with a visionary approach to the now and to what still lies ahead. With the Flower of Eternity collection it immortalizes these
values, while beautifully capturing the essence of timeless passion for future centuries to come.
