The 10 Commandments For Teens
6 and up
42 Minutes
To most teenagers the Ten Commandments appear to be a list of “DO NOTS” that
were written by people in antiquity and have no real meaning in the world we live in
today, but is this really the case? The Ten Commandments are very much alive in
the church today and translated very well into our era. Especially today, the
commandments have something to say to teenagers, who are faced with pressures
and burdens that can seem so overwhelming at times. These commandments are
not a list of limitations on fun. They are guidelines that, if adhered to, will help
young adults better cope with such problems as self-esteem, alcohol and drugs,
human sexuality, and relationships with their parents, their peers, and God. The
Ten Commandments are not just suggestions on how to live a better life, they are
what God expects of us. This video takes each commandment and discusses it in
today’s terms so teenagers can understand how these “age-old rules” are important
in their lives.

The Way of the Cross
Grades
Length
6 and up
43 Minutes
The Way of The Cross offers four different approaches to the traditional Catholic
Lenten observance of the Stations of the Cross; spirituality, social justice, history
and a video mediation on the stations.
The story segment tells of Father Richard Roos, S.J., who in Lent 1979, traveled on
foot to each of the Franciscan missions in California. Father Roos specifically
relates his pilgrimage to the Way of the cross and tells of its powerful conclusion in
a moment of personal conversion.
The witness segment features a T.V. – news-style report of the “Way of the cross,
Way of Justice,” held on Good Friday in a metropolitan setting. Christians carry a
large wooden cross and witness to issues of poverty and injustice, seeking to
respond as Jesus did in giving his life in love.
In the teaching segment notes spiritual writer and teacher Gloria Hutchinson traces
the history of the Way of the Cross and explains – step-by-step – how to pray the
stations.
The music video reflection is a 16 minute “video Way of the Cross,” narrated by a
diverse group of voices and accompanied by music and artistic representations of
the Stations of the Cross. This segment can be used as a Lenten mediation, alone
or with parish groups, RCIA, retreat groups, etc.
Very good for relection – learning of the Way of the Cross – the why how. Better if
shown two weeks in a row.

There’s a crisis in the home… and nobody wants to talk about it. It’s almost like a
“wall of silence” has been built. With troubled parents on one side… and confused
teenagers on the other. Communication has come to a screeching halt. A young
daughter can no longer talk to her mother. An independent son doesn’t want to
listen to his dad. As a result, there’s a lot of bitterness, misunderstanding, and
tension. All at a time when teenagers need Mom and Dad’s love and understanding
the most. This emotionally charged video will give teenagers the courage to tear
down those “walls of silence: and heal those broken relationships.

Relationships with Friends
Teen Crisis Series
Grades
Length
6 and up 10-15 Minutes
Few things are more valuable in life than friends. But for teenagers, making new
friends is not always easy. Many teenagers will never know the value of true
friendship until they run a gauntlet of obstacles. Young people face the fear of
rejection… the exclusion of cliques… and the anxiety of peer pressure. The real life
stories on this video provide answers for teenagers wanting to create lasting
friendships, repair broken relationships, and how to handle the pressures
associated with them.
93
Relationships with the Opposite Sex
Teen Crisis Series
6 and up 10-15 Minutes
Relationships with the opposite sex are probably the most misunderstood of all
teenage relationships. Dating can be exciting and scary at the same time. It’s
worse than an emotional roller coaster ride. Teenagers can feel wanted and loved
one moment… and then feel rejected or used the next. While this series cannot
promise a smooth trip on the roller coaster ride of dating, it can give young people
a :handle to hold onto” around those hairpin curves and down those steep inclines
of dating. During this program, young people share their fears of dating. They
discuss humorous thoughts on the perfect date. And then teenagers take you on
their painful journeys of going “too far” on a date.
94
Relationships with Self
Teen Crisis Series
6 and up 10-15 Minutes
How’s this for a scary thought: For the rest of your life, you will spend more time
with yourself than anyone else on earth! For that reason alone, every teenager
must answer this question. How do you feel about yourself? In other words, do you
like yourself just the way you are? The majority of young people will answer that
question with a loud “NO”. Many teenagers feel inferior, embarrassed and even
worthless. Overcoming those negative feelings isn’t easy. Every year, young
people hear 5000 negative messages from their parents, teachers, and friends.
This program gives young people valuable information on how to feel good about
themselves even though they are not perfect.

Relationships with the World
Teen Crisis Series
Grades
Length
6 and up 10-15 Minutes
The problems of the world appear very remote to most teenagers. Young people
study the world only in terms of geography, economic statistics, or political
structure. But the world is made up of people! By traveling to Haiti, Kenya, El
Salvador, India, and Zaire, this program takes a compassionate look at the impact
that war, starvation, and religious superstition have had around the world. It’s not
enough for Christian young people to relate only to the people in their
neighborhood. They must look beyond the shores of America… they must seize the
opportunities of your day and make a difference in the world for both now and
eternity.

Mass For Older Children
This is a lesson on the mass at a higher level of understanding than the one for
younger children. From the earliest times, Christians gathered at least once a week

Jesus we gather, we tell stories, we remember and break bread, we go forth to
those in need. This video walks children gently through the Mass and challenges
them to live it in their daily lives. The study guide includes directions for use,
activities, prayer celebrations and prayers. This video can be broken into the
Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist to teach the flow of the Mass.

how what the prophets had told the people really did happen. It is very much the
Easter story beginning mainly with Palm Sunday. Helps the children understand
why the chief priests were against Jesus and what He was teaching. Tells how

visitor appears -- St. Nicholas! With the saint’s help, Holly learns more about the
meaning and background of customs her family and other families practice during
Advent. St. Nicholas offers ideas as to how some of the customs can be practiced

Handle With Care - Helping Children Recognize Moral
Values
The five open-ended stories in this video involve second through fourth graders in
problem solving and decision making, inviting them to examine their values. The
“moral dilemmas” in these stories will help children develop caring attitudes and
responsible behavior toward others. In Jessica’s Dilemma, a young girl wonders if
she did the right thing when she buys new barrettes for her hair with money she
found in a soda machine. In Keith’s Dilemma, Keith is faced with giving up his
friendship with a black friend for the sake a new friend who is prejudiced. In
Jimmy’s Dilemma, a young boy has to decide whether or not to return to its rightful
owner a ten dollar bill or to use it to help buy a video he’s been saving for.
Monique’s Dilemma involves stealing and dealing with the consequences. These
stories will encourage children to look into their consciences for moral solutions, to
share responsibility for decision making, and to help one another solve simple
problems that are part of daily living.

A Child’s View of Community
Describes how a child can see the Spirit of Jesus Christ at work in the life of the
Church. For the Christian, Church is much more than a building. The local parish
is a young person’s most direct contact with the Church community. Here a child
discovers, through instruction and modeling, how to live and grow as a member of
the Body of Christ and celebrate that life with others. This program is presented as
a child’s religion class report on Church. A young person’s crayon drawings “come

represented to help children see that “my Church” is broader than “my parish.”

A Walk Through the Mass
1 thru 4
30 Minutes
Explores some of the meaning behind the celebration of Eucharist and takes a stepby-step look at the four principal parts of the Mass.

brothers’ goodness. She hopes these stories, told in the presence of a loaf of
bread, will help the brothers to reconcile.
In the witness segment real-life Catholics share the power of the Eucharist in their
lives.
In the teaching segment Father Tim Richstatter draws a parallel between the shape
of the Mass and a typical Thanksgiving dinner. He explains in detail the four parts
of the Mass and the rituals that accompany them.
The music video is “The Song of the Body of Christ," by David Haas, a musical and

loving parents. Troubled by a new vision of the Irish people pleading to be freed
from enslavement and hardship, he returns to the turbulent country intent on

Catholics come to Mass week after week, but seldom have an opportunity to reflect
on the larger meaning of why we come, what we are doing there, and what it all
means for our daily life. This Sacred Meal can help adults reflect on these
questions and deepen this understanding of the Eucharist. This video revolves

of Easter. During these forty days We Pray, We Fast, We Do Good Work, We

as a time to turn to God and to look at the way Jesus lived His life. Offering a
memorial to Jesus by people who knew him, it challenges us to speak of Jesus in

a message for Bishop Zumarraga: “Build My church here.” Juan Diego’s story was

Symbols and signs are essential to the Roman Catholic Liturgy and Ritual.

of the Church’s most important rituals. Gestures; how standing, kneeling, hand
gestures, and even sitting down have specific purposes in the Mass. Crosses; in
addition to the symbol of Christianity which hangs in every church, we cross
ourselves and make “the sign of the cross: at important moments in our rituals. In

covered in a way that will help young people, catechumens and even life-long
Catholics better understand the important reasons for these traditions and how they
help us grow in faith. For maximum flexibility, the segments work as stand-along

The Immaculate Conception: Exploring The Mystery
6 and up

December 8, 2004 is the 150th Anniversary of the Papal Bull, Ineffabilis Deus. This
teaching raised the belief in the Immaculate Conception to the status of a formal
doctrine, to be believed by all the faithful. Often confused with the faith belief in the
Virgin Birth, the Immaculate Conception is not about Jesus, but about Mary being
conceived in the womb of her mother, St. Anne. The dogma of the Immaculate
Conception explains how Mary, born of human parents like us, did not inherit
Original Sin. Good information on Mary but has portraits of frontal male nudity.

Patrick
53 Minutes
This docudrama, presented by Faith & Values Media, takes a new look at one of the
best-loved and least-understood icons of world religion. The story of the real St.
Patrick is part adventure tale and part spiritual awakening, with the future saint
rising from slave to liberator; learning to forgive and ultimately love his enemies;
taking up a cause no one believed in; and finally lighting a fire that kept western
civilization alive. His legacy has had an impact not only on Ireland, where he was
able to forge a ground-breaking synthesis of Christian faith and Celtic traditions, but
also on all of civilization.
This portrayal of the life of Patrick, who lived in the fifth century, was shot on
location in Ireland, using actors in period dress to recreate scenes from Patrick’s
life. It features the voices of two of Ireland’s top actors, with narration by Liam
Neeson, and Gabriel Byrne as the voice of Patrick. On-camera commentary is
provided by Frank McCourt, renowned Irish-American author of Angela’s Ashes,
who offers keen insight into how a foreign evangelical would have interacted with
the Irish. Additional commentary is provided by noted scholars and authors.
People of all faiths will find this an enthralling and challenging story.

Hildegard of Bingen was one of the most remarkable women of the Middle Ages--an
Abbess and woman of God, a visionary, naturalist, playwright, political moralist, and
composer. Despite this outpouring of religious creativity, her visions were called into
question and she was put on trial by the Church in 1148. An inspiring story of faith,
courage and compassion.

The Heroic Journey The Life and Legacy of Solanus
Casey
Grades
Length
57 Minutes
There are hundreds of stories about the amazing things that occurred when Father
Solanus prayed or bestowed his blessing. He seemed to have a sixth sense, an
ability to sense the future, but more accurately, and open channel to God. The story
of Solanus is not so much of the heavenly favors granted through his intercession,
but an example of how life's experiences shape our destiny and impact those
around us. His friendship with God and neighbor made him one of those unique
individuals who down through history are often singled out by the Catholic Church to
be canonized. Father Solanus' cause for canonization has already been welldocumented and presnted to the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints
for their consideration.

Hard Truth
9 Minutes
Being against abortion in the abstract is not enough. People must be so horrified by
abortion that they will be willing to endure the hardships of crisis pregnancy, rather
than to seek the easy way out. Words alone seldom horrify at that level. Neither can
mere words communicate the sense of outrage necessary to overcome the apathy
and inertia which impede people's willingness to undertake serious activism. The
video Hard Truth has the power to inspire such horror and outrage. NOT SUITABLE
VIEWING FOR CHILDREN. CAUTION: THIS VIDEO DEPICTS THE BODIES OF
ABORTED BABIES.
