THANK YOU to all for providing such great support to this event.
Classroom basket auction items are getting rave reviews
and are certain to bring in huge bids!
Hope to see you this Saturday at the event!
DID YOU KNOW….
the playground was created in memory of Cheryl Vochko?
Thanks to all who had a hand in it‟s creation.
Now, it‟s time to maintain it as a safe, fun space for kids at St. Bart‟s
and the neighborhood. Cheryl is proud, I‟m sure!
Join in the fun as we spread more padding (wood chips)

Your Child In Pictures!
(Back by popular demand!)
Mother Nature might finally start warming up! How would you like to have a black and white
headshot photograph of your child where you don‟t have to worry about making sure the hair is
perfectly styled, the clothes are neatly pressed and then have to do it all over again after you
arrive for your scheduled photo shoot? This is the fifth year the PTO is sponsoring a fundraiser
that will give you the opportunity to have such a picture. We want to catch your child having
fun! Over the next few weeks, a school parent who enjoys taking pictures, will be out on the
playground taking pictures of each child in school. On Grandparent‟s Day, May 20, the pictures
will be available for purchase. Additional copies can also be ordered.
At the beginning of the school year, a
photo release form was sent home to all
families with a request for approval to
take and use your child‟s photograph for
marketing purposes. The photos that
will be taken and made available for this
fundraiser will not be used for any
purpose other than for purchase during
Grandparent‟s Day.
Should you decide that you do NOT
want your child‟s picture taken for this
event, please send an email to Michelle
Letendre, [email protected].
Counselor’s Corner
Empowered to learn
Teaching independence in young children is important for developing self-care and
sufficiency in adolescence and early adulthood. Healthy grooming habits promote
self-confidence, socialization and reasoning skills. Elementary students have learned to
take care of personal hygiene without constant parent supervision. However, as children
grow and develop, they rely on their parents to guide them through times of changing and
developing grooming needs (prepubescence and puberty) especially as these needs pertain to
personal hygiene and grooming. Without parent intervention, learning and socialization can
be disrupted, and students become confused as to why their peers seem to shy away from
them.
As the weather warms up and classrooms become very warm, review with your students
that they‟ve showered and selected clean clothes, and if age appropriate, are confident in
how to use deodorant. Avoid scented products and please, NO bath and body sprays at
school.
The desired outcome is students who are prepared and empowered to learn, meet goals,
and achieve their highest potential.
