On May 27, 2009, in Montreal, after a 20 year absence Marie Chouinard returned to stage with her most
recent solo, morning glories :)-(:
Always presented in unusual performance settings, the work met with acclaim at the Venice Biennale in
June 2010, with sold-out performances at the legendary La Fenice theatre. You won't want to miss this rare
opportunity to see Marie dance in her home studio, at LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE - Espace Marie Chouinard.

FILM AND MULTIMEDIA - WORKS IN PROGRESS
The works of Marie also include multimedia creations. With three projects in progress, the COMPAGNIE
MARIE CHOUINARD will be a hive of creative activity over the month of October!
For two of these, Marie will be working in collaboration with Luc Courchesne, multimedia artist and designer of the Panoscope 360°. Further details on these works-in-progress will be revealed in upcoming newsletters.
PRELUDE TO THE AFTERNOON OF A FAUN IN SÃO PAULO: IRUPÉ ET ED
On her visit to Brazil, where the São Paulo Companhia de Dança recently added to its repertoire Prelude to
the Afternoon of a Faun, Marie was astounded by the “maturity of interpretation” of soloists Irupé Sarmiento
and Ed Louzardo, adding that the dance of the faun was “one of the most beautiful she has ever seen.”

After the Larousse dictionary, 2011 edition, it is the turn of DIXEL, Robert's illustrated dictionary, to add
“Marie Chouinard” to its list of proper names.

CHOUINARD (Marie), Québec 1955, Canadian dancer and choreographer. Author of experimental works
and solo performances, company director in Montreal (since 1990), she has created an iconoclastic repertoire in which desire, animality, even disability are used to reveal the essence of life (les Trous du ciel,
1991 ; bODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG_vARIATIONS, 2005 ; Orpheus and Eurydice, 2008).

CHOUINARD (Marie), Canadian (québécoise) dancer and choreographer, born 1955. Wilfully provocative,

REMINDER: THE NATIONAL BALLET OF CANADA PERFORMS THE 24 PRELUDES IN MONTREAL
