IYotei Any discussion of Mayr revivaTs shouid take account of the lrork of
Dr Heinrich Bauer who made numerous broadcasts on the Bavarian State
Radio between 1961 and 1.983, in his rol.es of musico.Iogist, broadcaster
and accompanist- He al$rays edited and wrote the text of his prograru[es,
inserting whenever possibfe exEunp.Ies of Mayr's music, numerous j.tems of
which are not unfortunately recorded in the following tistinq due to lack
of documentation. In this context we have even been unable to find perfol.rnance dates and details of the Sujte for llarp: Coocerto tot three vlotlhs; anat
the Sintohla concertata io, piccolo, llute, clarinet drd bass€t ,ror-, ( sometihes
aeferred to as the Concerto Berga ascoBesitles the editions which Dr Bauer prepared. notes shord that the State
Raalio and various colleagues a.Iso prepareal performing naterial.
The scope anal aiunount of tlayr's music which l.as broaclcast in these years
.is quite tantalising and coNrEnds respe-t, for Dr Bauer combined these
lecturing activities lrith his qrork as a dentist- Maybe 1995 will see the
fulfilment of his great rrish to see Johatut Sinon Mayr re-estabLished
among the pantheon of great composers.
