News From TCBA Headquarters by Keith Savoie
The All Star tournament was reduced by eliminating the semi-finals and having a
four game finals instead of an eight game round robin. Bowlers will as before,
need only 6 games to qualify to bowl in the All Star tournament. The top three
bowlers from each squad and the top 4th place bowler from all squads combined
will advance to the finals. This will give us the top sixteen bowlers from each division to bowl 4 games to determine the All Star champions.

year.
The National Playoff tournament was reduced from five games to four for the
Qualifying rounds, leaving the semi-finals and the finals as they were. These
changes reduced the time of the squads and allow the semi-finals to be completed
at a more reasonable time Saturday night.
The regional wildcard tournaments were a great success. Many of the bowlers
were happy to have the opportunity to bowl the wildcard without the added expense of traveling to the National site. Those that qualified were even more excited. The wildcard teams were placed in the tournament by total pin fall with
handicap to give us a format to follow.
We had 100% of the women’s regions participate in the tournament. There were
only 3 teams that qualified for the wildcard that did not bowl. After all of the
scores were in, we had an uneven number of teams for the women’s tournament.
The first team in the wildcard tournaments that did not qualify was added to the
tournament. We have done this in the past, only difference was the team was already at the tournament. Fortunately the team was more than happy to find
they were in the tournament.
In the men’s regions one region did not have a wildcard tournament. That was
unfortunate for those teams not to bowl. With 4 teams qualifying in that region,
and not bowl, one of those teams was guaranteed to go to the National Playoffs
and bowl for a chance to win the National Championship. Of the other men’s regions only two teams elected not to bowl.
This year’s tournaments will definitely by challenging for our tournament staff.
Two tournaments over 4 days. I have all the confidence in the world that they
will pass with flying colors. In any event, please have patience and all will be
well.

been given a room rate of $92.00 per night
for regular rooms and $112.00 per night for
Suites both with a free breakfast buffet.
Check in time is 3:00 PM and check out is
12:00 PM. When making your reservations
be sure you refer to TCBA Bowling.
The Holiday Inn Express across the street
from the host hotel has agreed to offer the
TCBA overflow rooms for $85.00 per night.
A free breakfast buffet is also available at
the Holiday Inn.
