Awards Banquet
The Indiana Junior Rodeo Association (IJRA) wrapped up a
successful 2008-2009 year with the IJRA Awards Banquet on
December 5th in Lebanon, Indiana. There were many awards
presented to the IJRA contestants as well as lots of food, a great
auction and quilt raffle. A special thanks to the Hartle family who
organized the quilt raffle fundraiser and a big congratulations to
Sherri Zimmerman who was drawn as the winner. IJRA had a
spectacular year because of all the hard work and dedication from
each IJRA family.
Jackets were awarded to the All-Around Winners from the
IJRA Finals. Congratulations to K-1-2’s Kolt Keller and Chalee
Gilliand, 3-4-5’s Tucker Whitten and Cali Moriarty and 6-7-8’s
Cord Barricklow and Korri Allen. The Top 4 IJRA contestants in
each event also received their awards at the banquet. A variety
of awards such as buckles, saddles, chairs, halters and tack were
presented. The Preschool Contestants were awarded buckles,
rope bags and bronc halters. These contestants worked very hard
and had a lot of fun this past year. IJRA awarded six All-around
saddles to the 2008-2009 winners. The Reserve All-Around
winners were presented with custom breast collars and a rope bag
or Tod Slone saddle pad. Each event winner was presented with a
buckle recognizing their win in their event. Congratulations to the
winners of IJRA’s 2008-2009 rodeo season!

This year for the Kenny Steffen/Chad Hittle Mental Attitude Award, a tie allowed
IJRA to recognize two recipients of this award. These two very deserving IJRA
members were also the first females to win this award. Congratulations and two
new buckles go to Ali Hittle and Katie George.
IJRA would also like to recognize Chris Keller (President), Katrina Banta (Rodeo
Secretary), Jack Overshiner (rodeo announcer) and Brian Strausbaugh and Kevin
Harwood (EMT’s) for all that they have done for our association. The countless
hours, dedication, support and fun that they bring to IJRA does not go unnoticed
The 2009-2010 IJRA rodeo season will start back up in April at the Hoosier Horse
Park in Edinburgh, IN. IJRA hopes that any interested youth in Indiana or the surrounding states will join us as our season gets back under way.
