Morning Breakout Choices
Behavior Part 1—Dana Stevens, Ph.C, BCBA
Many children with disabilities demonstrate behaviors that
many families and service providers find challenging.
Topic will cover basic principles of Positive Behavior
Support strategies.
“You Can Work!” Addressing the Fears about Loss of
Social Security Cash & Medical Benefits—
Cathy Sacco
Learn the basics around Social Security and Medical
Benefits and the work incentives you may utilize when
pursuing your career goals. While many people have fears
around pursuing employment when they are on these
public benefits, there are work incentives that you can
utilize to gain employment. Hear from individuals and
their families regarding their stories of employment and
benefits and review a few employment scenarios from our
community.
Assistive Technology for Reading, Writing, &
Having Fun!—John Gale, RN, ATP
John will talk about and demonstrate a variety of
technological tools that can be used to help kids with
disabilities communicate at home, school and in the
community. Parents will be able to try out the different
types of assistive technology devices discussed.
Informing Families Building Trust—Where to Turn,
What to Do —Darci Ladwig
Good information is the key to preparing for the many
transitions in your child's life. Informing Families Building
Trust is committed to providing you with trusted, reliable
information. Workshop attendees will learn how to plan for,
and successfully move through each milestone.

Afternoon Breakout Choices
Behavior Part 2—Dana Stevens, Ph.C, BCBA
To effectively address challenging behaviors, it is crucial
that teams work together to find solutions that really
work for all members. Strategies will be presented so that
children can be successful in multiple environments.
Managed Healthcare—Lauren Warrick
Lauren Warrick is one of AmeriGroup’s Community
Outreach Representative and she will be available to share
information and answer questions you may have
regarding state program benefits. AmeriGroup is one of
the new Managed Care Plans for Medicaid and SSI in the
State of Washington. Come and hear about the recent
changes in Medicaid and learn about what AmeriGroup is
doing in our local community.
Spokane Guardianship Monitoring Program—
Ana Kemmerer
This class will go over how the program started, the different types of guardianship (person, estate or both), the
reasons you might need guardianship, some alternatives
to guardianship, and one mom’s journey. This class will
also focus on the trainings that are required, the annual
reports required and more.
Father’s Network with Gabe & Steve Murfitt
Join with other dads to discuss the challenges and joys of
being the father of a child with a chronic health concern
and/or a disability. Topics to include responding to daily
challenges, celebrating children and family, and
connecting with other great dads.
