Another sell out and a new
CEO for Roskilde Festival
From VIP-Daily News
With 100.000 tickets sold, the 46th edition
of Roskilde Festival once again sold out with
the festival expecting to be able to donate
17 million Danish Kroner to charity (approx.
2.3 million euro).
One is always amazed by how the event
seems to run seamlessly with no, or very
little visible trouble. Once a year a “festival
city” is built to cater for 100.000 ticket
buyers plus an impressive 32.000 volunteers
(just imagine the logistics behind organizing
these people!) making it Denmark’s 4th
biggest city for one week.
This year’s festival saw 180 concerts with
acts from over 30 countries. A wide range
of music was presented on the nine stages
from headlining acts such as Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Neil Young, LCD Soundsystem, PJ
Harvey, Biffy Clyro and New Order on the
Orange and Arena stages to gut wrenching
rock on the Pavillion stage, Hip-Hop parties
on the Apollo stage, intimate avant-garde
performances on the indoor Gloria stage
(a personal favorite) and everything else inbetween.

in the area of live music and venues has had some problems of late.
Between 2007 and 2015, London lost 35 percent of its grassroots
music venues, a decline from 136 spaces to 88. The mayor has
launched a survey and is requesting the input of London-based
songwriters, artists and music businesses. The London Assembly
Regeneration Committee seeks to discover how far culture-led
regeneration could help expand the city’s artistic and creative
offer, and help its boroughs prosper.
The committee is calling on those working in the creative industries
across London to take part in the survey so the mayor’s office can
better respond to growing pressures in the sector. The investigation
emphasises the mayor’s stated belief in the importance of arts
and culture in post-Brexit London and its role in bringing together
communities and making the city a better place to live.
