MUDr. MÉSZÁROS SÁNDOR
(1930. 7. 5. – 1997. 3. 18.)
MUDr Alexander Mészáros was born in village Pozba, county
Nové Zámky on the 5th of June 1930 as the second child to a
farmer family. He attended the first four classes of elementary
school in his hometown. In the following years he attended the
civil school in Levice. His studies were interrupted by the second
world war. In years 1947-50 he was the student of Bethlen
Gábor secondary school in Hódmezövásárhely. He graduated
from secondary school of „Jókai Gimnázium” in Komárom in
1951. In the same year, he became the student on the faculty of
medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava from which he graduated in 1957. In years 195760 he worked in children’s ward at Levice Hospital. From 1961 until his retirement he was the
district doctor of Pohronsky Ruskov.
He started breeding Hungarian pointers in 1970. Many pointers from his breeding station
„Oroszka” got abroad, among others to Hungary, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Austria,
Germany and to the United States. From 1971 till 1997 he has bred 17 litters. Unfortunatelly,
after his death there was noone to take up his breeding station, and it‘s name remains only in the
registry of pedigrees.
At home as well as abroad he was known as the expert and a professional in breeding of
Hungarian pointers. He regularly attended exhibitions and competitions, both national and
international, where he was as jury in the evaluation of performance and outlook of pointers. He
juried on exhibition of pointers in 1978 in Austria and Hungary, in 1979 in the USA (New
York,Baltimore), in 1981 and 1985 in the Federal Republic of Germany.
During 1967 - 1989 he was the president of Eagle Hunter Association in Čata. From 1976 to
1989 he was president of kynological committee of regional organizaton of SPZ in Levice. Also,
he was a member of kynological committee of Slovak Hunter Union in Bratislava.
He was the founding member of Hungarian Vizslas Breeders Club in Slovakia in 1973.He
became the club’s main advisor of breeding and soon he became the president of the club for 18
years(1978-96). The day after the club was founded, he started writing a chronicle about the life
of the club full of photographs and documents. He also cared about the education of young
hunters and he was a lecturer and interim commissioner of the applicants for their first hunting
license (1980-86).
The work of MUDr Mészáros was acknowledged by Slovak Hunter Association by numerous
honours in hunting and in the field of hunting kynology. He received bronze award in 1957,
silver award in 1976, and golden award in 1980. At the end of year 1990 he got the memorary
medallion „Golden chamois”,wich is the highest hunter award.
He organized an exhibition of his photos, wild animals and environment protection theme, in
Levice in 1987 and in Zeliezovce in 1990. He published his writings about kynology and the
environment in journals and newspapers as well as in the periodic issue of Spravodaj, which he
edited for the Club of Breeders of Hungarian pointers in Slovakia.
On his last way to the cemetery of Pozba he was accompanied by inhabitants of Pohronsky
Ruskov as well as hunters and club members.

Statute of MUDr. Alexander Mészáros Memorial
MAM is the top international competition for Hungarian vizslas in Slovakia.
It is organized each year under the patronage of SPZ, SKJ and FCI.
The aim of MAM is the comparison of the level of breeding and training of
Hungarian Vizslas in Slovakia with those from other countries, determination of
further progression in the breeding, as well as deepening and fastening of connections among the clubs and breeders of Vizslas and the exchange of their experiences.
MAM can be entered by 24 vizslas of both breeds (Shorthaired and Wirehaired),
out of which 12 dogs may be from foreign countries. In the case of lower number
of dogs entered from abroad, the remaining positions are filled by the participants from Slovakia. The selection of participants from Slovakia is made by the
Committee of Vizsla Club Slovakia, with preference of dogs which have not participated at MAM yet. The handler of the dog from Slovakia has to be the member of VCS. Handler can lead only one dog on MAM.
The competition disciplines are chosen with regards to the competition rules of
MAM. The title „Club winner” is awarded to vizsla who reaches the first place
with highest score and belongs to a VCS member.
Dog with the highest score in the first prize, receives the title of Expectant for
International Championship of Work- CACIT. Dog who receives second highest
score in the first prize, receives the title ‚Reserve CACIT‘.
The best dog from each breed placed in first prize obtains the title CACT, the
second placed dog of each breed in first prize obtains title Reserve CACT.
Dog which receives a disqualifying score from the title in any of the disciplines,
can continue competing but can not be included in the whole ranking. Dog handler can raise a protest only if he can prove that the competition rules were broken. The protest has to be raised immediately after the discipline score is
announced. The judge is obliged to react immediately. In some cases the protest
may be passed to the chief judge who will settle the matter by the end of that day.
In case of a formal protest the handler must deposit € 40 which will be refunded to him provided that the chief judge justifies the protest. A protest can be
placed no later than prior to the announcement of the results.
The statute is in valid since 1st of August 1997, last update has been made on
July 7th, 2007.
