Orbea has spent the past 74 years mastering the rules of bicycle
design. Since the time we made our our very first bike in 1930
we have worked enthusiastically to create machines that set
your passion for cycling on fire.
In 2005 we have even gone further along the way to offer you
a range of bicycles that without a doubt will be even more
adaptable to your needs. As well as the components, you can
decide the frame material, the geometry, and which of our
striking paint jobs you want.
To achieve this we offer you the best materials known to date
for the construction of your frame ...carbon fibre, 6000 series
aluminium and the best steel on the market.
Thanks to our BMD configuration concept we have modernised
our ability to create handcrafted frames that suit your particular
body shape and size in record time.
When it comes to the paint design and decoration of
your bike there is no limit to your desires and the
ability of our creators to match them. The skills of
our painters cannot be argued with: they are a team
of true geniuses that have perfectly mastered the
arts of airbrush and hand painting such that they
continually push their creations to new heights .
To this fusion of art and technology we can only add
to the mixture a range of the best components.

When ORBEA won its first stage in the Tour de France it was the culmination of years of skill and
technology in frame building. In 2005 our heritage continues to shine as we push the limits even
further with our flagship line of aluminium frames: Starship and Lobular.
In addition to representing the highest standard of producton and materials for their class,
aluminium brings together various properties that make it something different to other materials.
Its lower weight along wiith its great stiffness and strength makes aluminium an excellent material
for frame building. There exists numerous different types of aluminium alloys on the market and
at ORBEA we have chosed the AL 6000 for the construction of our top range frames.

6000 Aluminum (aluminium with magnesium and silicon as the main additional ingredients) is
indisputably the aluminium alloy with the best frame building properties. It is an excellent
material that can be easily molded to achieve the various forms and incredibly reduced densities
during the extrusión phase, and its great strength is achieved by our heat treatment process.
An aluminium frame is capable of being definitely adapted to any type of cyclist and to any
type of cycling. It is especially suited for those that are looking for la frame with the principal
qualities of lightness and maximum stiffness.

Over the years steel has set the standard for how a bicycle frame should ride-a fantastic
combination of road feel and responsive handling. The gentle feel of steel transmits a feeling
that has us thinking that what we have in our hands is a frame with its own soul. It's not without
reason that steel has been always known as a lively metal.

Steel's excellent qualities of elasiticity make it possible for those who have never used this
material to discover a true and exquisite pleasure of riding, one that they have never felt
before, such that riding steel can seem to give the road a velvet coating. Today new
technologies allow tubing to be designed under the most stringent of specifications, sufficiently
light so as to be a perfect rival for aluminium frames, but at the same time robust enough to
respond the the demands of today's cyclists.
There is not other steel frame more advanced. When we talk about an ORBEA steel frame, we

While we are known mostly for our road bikes, during recent years and through many hours of
R&D in our factory and our laboratory of the rugged mountains of the Basque country - the
ultimate proving ground for our extensive line of mountain bikes; ORBEA has achieved a great
deal of experience and maturity in the off-road world. Champions test-pilots like Marga Fullana
and Iñaki Lejarreta or Cedric Ravanel help us in every moment to ensure that our frames include

The system is charcterised by the versatiliy that it gives you to adapt your bike to any type of
terrain. The articulated mechanism with 5 positions of adjustment allows you to vary both
the suspension travel (110 mm to 170 mm) as well as the geometry of the bike. With just a
flick of the wrist you can optimise your bike to make it stiffer on a steep climb, keeping your
fluid pedal stroke and resisting pedalling interference. And once you are at the top, just give
it another flick to soften the ride, make it more comfortable and increasing the absorbtion
