MIXER'S MANUAL
HINTS FOR THE HOME BAR
CORRECT MEASUREMENT
Have a jigger (li/2 oz.) or a measuring
glass on hand. A dash is equal to
seven or eight drops. The quantities
mentioned in the recipes refer to one
drink except where otherwise specified.
From them you can easily calculate
the amounts to use for mixing any
number of drinks.
TYPE OF SUGAR
Always use fine granulated sugar to avoid
caking and to assure thorough dilution.
Do not use confectioners' sugar.
ICE IN COCKTAILS
Do not allow a shakerful to stand too
long with ice —for drinks go flat from
excessive dilution.
WHEN TO SHAKE
Shake all cocktails that contain fruit
juices. Others should be stirred.
PREPARING FRUITS
Be sure to slice or squeeze fruit just prior
to use. If left to stand, fruit and fruit juices
go stale, even under refrigeration.
SERVE DRINKS ICE-COLD
Some hosts pre-cool both liquor and
glassware. It's a good practice.

PROTECT VERMOUTH FROM AIR
It's actually a delicate, fragile wine.
Keep cool, tightly corked.
KEEP GLASSWARE
RIGHT SIDE UP
Otherwise soap fumes, which are liable
to be retained after washing, may easily
ruin a drink's flavor.
M I X I N G INGREDIENTS
To insure satisfaction, follow recipes
exactly.

MANHATTAN
COCKTAIL
1 dash of bitters
V3 Italian (sweet) Vermouth
Fleischmann's Preferred
Stir with ice —strain into
cocktail glass. Add
Maraschino cherry.
OLD FASHIONED
COCKTAIL
Yz lump of sugar
2 dashes of bitters
1 teaspoonful water
Muddle thoroughly to
dissolve sugar. Add ice cubes
and 1 jigger of Fleischmann's
Preferred. Decorate with
slice of orange or lemon and stir.
WHISKEY SOUR
1 teaspoonful sugar
Juice of Vl lemon
1 jigger Fleischmann's
Preferred
Shake well with ice —strain
into 5 or 6 02. glass.
Decorate with Maraschino
cherry.
MINT JULEP
4 sprigs of fresh mint
1 teaspoonful sugar
Crush mint leaves and sugar
in 12 oz. glass. Fill glass
with cracked ice and add 1 Vi
jiggers Fleischmann's
Preferred. Stir until glass frosts.
Decorate with sprigs of mint.
WHISKEY COLLINS
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoonful sugar
1 Vi jiggers Fleischmann's
Preferred
Shake well with cracked ice.
Strain into 12 02. glass
over 2 or 3 ice cubes.
Fill with club soda and stir.
Decorate with cherry.
WARD 8
Juice of 1 lemon
V2 jigger Grenadine
1 jigger Fleischmann's
Preferred
Shake well with cracked ice.
Strain into 8 02. glass.
Decorate with slice of orange
and Maraschino cherry.
WHISKEY FLIP
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoonful sugar
1 jigger Fleischmann's
Preferred
1 dash Pilgrim Rum
Shake well, pour into 8 oz.
glass and sprinkle grated
nutmeg on top.
HOT TODDY
1 lump of sugar
2 cloves
1 jigger Fleischmann's
Preferred
Stir in 5 oz. glass with
hot water. Decorate with
twist of lemon rind.
HIGHBALL
Ice cubes
1 jigger Fleischmann's
Preferred
Fill highball glass with
water, club soda or
gingerale. Stir and enjoy,

Stir well with

glass and add olive.

BRONX

V4 French (dry) Vermouth
V2 Fleischmann's Gin
Juice of V2 orange
Shake with cracked ice and
strain into cocktail glass.
ORANGE BLOSSOM
V2 orange juice
V2 Fleischmann's Gin
Shake well with cracked ice.
Strain into cocktail glass.
PINK LADY
1/4 Grenadine
V4 Fleischmann's Gin
White of 1 egg
Shake well with cracked ice.
Strain into cocktail glass.
G I N AND BITTERS
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Ice cubes
1 jigger Fleischmann's Gin
Serve in Old Fashioned glass.
G I N AND TONIC
1 Vi jiggers Fleischmann's Gin
Pour over ice cubes. Fill
with Quinine Water. Drop
in slice of lime or lemon.
TOM COLLINS
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoonful sugar
1 Vz jiggers Fleischmann's Gin.
Shake well. Pour into glass.
Add ice cubes. Fill with
club soda. Decorate with
orange and lemon slices.
G I N AND COLA
1 jigger Fleischmann's Gin
Bottle of your favorite
Cola drink
Mix in 12 oz. glass with ice.
Add slice of lime.
G I N DAISY
1 teaspoonful Grenadine
Juice of Vz lemon
1 jigger Fleischmann's Gin
Shake well with cracked ice.
Pour unstrained into 8 oz.
glass. Fill with soda. Decorate with Maraschino cherry.
SCOTCH RECIPES
Black and White's distinctive character

SCOTCH HIGHBALL
1 jigger Black & White
Ice cubes
Fill highball glass with club
soda. Many people prefer
their Scotch Highballs with
plain water.
SCOTCH MIST
1 jigger Black & White
Shake with finely shaved ice.

of lemon peel. Can be served
with short straws.

RUM RECIPES
Pilgrim Rum's rich, satisfying
flavor makes superb drinks.
PLANTERS PUNCH
Juice of Vz lime or lemon
1 teaspoonful sugar
1 teaspoonful Grenadine
1 Vl jiggers Pilgrim Rum
Shake well with cracked ice.
Pour into 12 oz. glass filled
with finely cracked ice.
Decorate with fruit.
CUBA LIBRE
Juice of V2 lime
1 jigger Pilgrim Rum
Bottle of your favorite Cola
Pour over ice cubes in 12 oz.
glass. Drop in squeezed lime shell.
Pilgrim Rum is delicious in such drinks
as Old Fashioneds, Collins and Sours.

PARTY PUNCHES
FLEISCHMANN'S
G I N PUNCH
(Sufficient for 12 people.
Makes 50 servings, 4 oz. eai
Juice of 12 lemons (12 oz.)
Juice of 20 oranges (60 oz.)
2 bottles Fleischmann's Gin
4 jiggers of Grenadine
Pour over large piece of ice
(or 2 trays of cubes). Add 2
large bottles of club soda.
Mix together. Decorate

Juice of 6 lemons (6 oz;)
Juice of 8 oranges (24 oz.)
1 small can of Pineapple
juice (18 oz.)
2 bottles Fleischmann's
Preferred
Pour over large piece of ice
(or 2 trays of cubes). Add
two bottles of gingerale.
Sugar to taste. Decorate with
orange, lemon and pineapple slices.

2 Bottles Pilgrim Rum
Juice of 12 lemons
1 cup of sugar
1 pint very strong tea
Mix thoroughly. Pour over
large piece of ice (or 2 trays
of cubes). Decorate with
fruit. Add 2 quarts of
club soda.

EGG N O G
(Sufficient for 12 people.
Makes 30 servings, 4 oz.each)
Beat yolks and whites of 8
eggs separately. Add Vz lb.
sugar to whites, beat until
stiff. Add beaten yolks to
whites, mix until blended.
Beat in two jiggers Pilgrim
Rum. Add 1 bottle
Fleischmann's Preferred.
Beat mixture. Add 1 pint
heavy cream, 1 quart of milk.
Mix. Chill well. Grate
nutmeg over top. Serve.
