Lawless Heat Wave
The final days of summer are about going out with a bang. It’s about pushing to no end. In this spirit, this delivery takes
inspiration from guys like Matt Archbold and Christian Fletcher who’ve always pushed the limits to today’s new generation of
hell raisers like Greyson Fletcher and Adam Bennett who continue to push. With bold colors, tropical vibes, bleach splotches,
and pigment treatments, this collection is about sweaty good times and the raw vitality of going-for-broke.
Lowdown Dirty Heroes
Inspired by the determined grit of RVCA advocates Jeremy Leabres, Taylor Smith, and Kevin Spanky Long, this delivery
channels fast music, faster lines, and the glory of picking yourself up after a heavy spill. Dirty overdyes, old school sleeve
hits, and a mean color palette accent a range of sturdy chinos, classic flannels, and retro inspired athletics.
WAYWARD PERFECTION
Inspired by the stylings of RVCA advocates Ed Templeton, Josh Harmony, and Aaron Rose this delivery incorporates warm
autumn tones, fuzzy sweaters, kooky corduroy and other sophisticated bits from grandpa’s musty old closet. The range is
married with a touch of the now by way of tailored modern fits and classic subtle RVCA labeling.

Archy cemented his mark in surfing in the mid
to late eighties with his raw, attacking style and
pioneering
approach
to
aerial
surfing.
Archy
surfed hard, played hard, and lived even harder,
gaining life lessons over the years that turned him
into a cult-like hero and the subject of his own
documentary, Archy. Heavily tattooed from head
to toe, Archy is a man with a no-bullshit approach
to life, schooling the youth with heavy turns and
committed lines at spots like Off the Wall.
Archy’s inaugural signature collection combines
his love of ink, garage work, and greaser styling.
Following an improbable friendship forged over
a makeshift tattoo studio on a North Shore porch,

Ed Templeton was born in Orange County, a sprawling suburb of Los Angeles. He became interested in
skateboarding when he was in middle school and devoted all his time to it. Templeton started going to the mall
looking at art books, usually finding only Picasso, M.C. Escher, Dali and the like. In 1989 he came across a small
book about Egon Schiele and became enthralled by his painting. Templeton eventually became a professional
skateboarder, which allowed him opportunities to tour Europe. While there, he spent every free moment absorbing
its galleries and art museums. Soon after, he realized his first exhibition, a skateboard art show in Chicago. Since
then, he has exhibited his paintings and photographs worldwide. He has exhibited his work worldwide including
exhibitions at Alleged Gallery, New York, Roberts and Tilton, Los Angeles, and in Tokyo at Aki–X Gallery. Solo
museum exhibitions include Museum Het Domein in the Netherlands and Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

DMOTE is a New York-based artist hailing from Sydney, Australia, where there is no denying his influence
on the global underground scene.You mention graffiti in Australia, people say DMOTE. Spearheading the
Australian graffiti scene since the early ‘90s, DMOTE has accomplished a phenomenal plethora of work, and
now, transcending into a fine arts focused phase of his career, is bridging the gap between his roots in street,
painting and a culture sensitive approach to commercial work. DMOTE’s style derives from his youth and life
experiences while his inspirations come from the streets and graffiti. His paintings are a natural progression
from a misspent youth to a new found maturity. His artistic ability lends itself to allow him to act as a designer,
illustrator, painter and curator in addition to graffiti artist.

“Dirt bag can be such a derisive term, but I’d like to think of it a
badge to be worn with pride. Or in my case, a pair of pants I haven’t
washed in who-knows-how-long with pride. It is a commitment
to non commitment. The extreme aversion to the nine to five,
managers, land lords, idiots, assholes, cops, and the Man. Not so
much a choice, as the inability to do anything else with your life than
seek the great outdoors, adventure, and the unknown.
About two years ago, my health started to decline at an alarming
rate. After countless doctor appointments, blood tests and
relentless prodding, no one could figure out exactly what was
wrong, or they didn’t care enough to try, so I got fed up and moved
out. I had done a decent amount of traveling before, for work and
climbing, but this time I decided to live the life for good. Nothing to
lose and everything to gain.
For a little over a year now I’ve been tattooing at shops kind
enough to have me and working from town to town, climbing
and head banging along the way. I’ve met the kindest, most giving
and brilliant people everywhere I’ve been who have taken care
of me and inspired me to keep going. I have been trying to take
my experiences and incorporate them into the artwork, helping
me remember the stories, good times, great friends, late nights,
landscapes, and near death experiences. What has come out on
paper and skin are thousands of miles of driving, late nights of
drinking and star gazing, gas station dining, and a heavy dose of

Ben Horton first gained notoriety through graphics he
created for skateboard decks—himself a skateboarder,
with over fifteen years of disservice to his joints. Horton’s
ideas come from photographs and his life experiences. The
people that inhabit Horton’s canvases have an indefinable
connection, something gleaned from their expressions
or eyes. There is richness and a familiarity in his cast of
characters. Birds are a common theme, swooping and
soaring throughout the foregrounds and backgrounds of the
works. He exploits his artistic talents on various mediums
such as canvas, paper, and wood using acrylics, house
paints, ink, and Sharpie pens—whatever is lying around and
easily available to him.

Brad Phillips is a contemporary Canadian painter and writer from Toronto, Canada. He is best known for his
dark complex work with the deep tropes of suicide, sex and self-injury. He has exhibited around the world, and
is the subject of various critical texts and interviews. He began writing in 2009, and his published essays are
part of his work-in-progress, I Believe in God.
He resided in Vancouver between 2002 and 2013 and currently lives in Ontario.
Aesthetically, Phillips is noted for his photorealist style and often references his own photographs to compose
his paintings. He is known for his dark and often sinister imagery as well as text-based works, many of which
include literary references. He often employs satire, autobiography, and black humor in his paintings. Phillips
calls his work highly biographical and likens his style to “confessional poetry.”

growing up, and was taught the importance of recycling and reusing things from a young age. These details
helped form the style and choice of materials in her work.
From an early age Melissa showed a strong aptitude for art; teaching herself to draw, make handmade objects,
sew and paint. By 7 years old she could be found tinkering with a hammer and nails, creating objects from
wood, which she would then paint and display in the family home. Melissa maintains a firm ethos of using
found or recycled objects, materials and surfaces and insists on making her works entirely “by hand”.
Melissa’s style has been described as “…pop meets Frida Kahlo” and indeed like Kahlo, Melissa’s work is very
personal and sometimes autobiographical. Her work reflects her interest in street art, iconography, symbolism,
imagery from old children’s books, vintage ephemera and comics.
Melissa started exhibiting her works around Australia at 18 years of age and began her studio practice after
college where she studied fine art and printmaking. Her first solo show was at the Brunswick Street Gallery in
Melbourne, in 2011.
Melissa is very happy to be managing the RVCA/ANP gallery in Melbourne while continuing to paint and
create in her studio at the gallery.

kylea borges
Kylea Borges was born and raised on the Central Coast
of California. Most of her early years were spent camping
in Big Sur or backpacking in Yosemite while acquiring an
appreciation for nature as it was meant to be experienced.
At a young age, Kylea started experimenting with collage
with the influence of her grandmother and played with it on
and off through the years.
As an avid collector of vintage and antique objects, she
works mainly with old images and papers. Her work with
fibers and clothing construction have contributed greatly
to her paper treatments and textures. In her current works,
the artist brings together her observations from nature and
textiles and marries them in an elegant marriage of natural
geometry. Kylea has lived and worked in San Francisco
for the ten years. She is self taught in the field of fine arts,
taking much of her inspiration and skill from her education
in textiles and design.
L7, 2013 – “This piece was conceived as a study in shade and texture as many of my projects begin. I was
inspired by a stack of magazines I found from the 1950’s that are printed with thick black ink, creating a deep
matte texture. The shading was so rich, I wanted to capture and highlight it in such a way that would really
do it justice. The idea was to cut and assemble the pieces together from light dark to produce a 3-D optical
illusion effect. At the same time the textures blend together, they contrast to bring out subtle variations
from block to block so that no two are alike. I began the process by hand cutting each square from small to
large and framing them in a way that would capture something interesting and significant in each. Upon
closer inspection the viewer will begin to notice more tangible details; a map, the Eiffel Tower, sand, and
so on. Pieces have intentionally been turned at differentangles to abstract what the eye naturally wants
to find and forcing it to focus texture, contrast and shape. The product is something like a log cabin quilt
of images that have all been brought together intentionally at times and sometimes finding their own way
subconsciously into the work.” – Kylea

BANNED FROM THE NORM
Kreuzberg is a neighborhood in Berlin that has perfected the art of not taking shit from anyone. Inhabited in the late 60’s by immigrants, war draft dodgers,
poets, artists and musicians; Kreuzberg quickly evolved into a counter-culture epicenter attracting the likes of David Bowie and Iggy Pop. The locals are currently
on the frontlines of a battle to retain the off-beat pulse of this unique neighborhood and protect against gentrification. They regularly band together and come
out in masses to protest against anything that infringes upon their unique culture and the environment that they’ve created. The buildings serve as a canvas
to international street artists. At one time almost completely surrounded by the Berlin Wall; this neighborhood rose out of the ashes to become a mecca for
non-conformists and creatives and they aren’t willing to give it up. This collection was inspired by the counter culture that thrives in modern day Berlin and the
courage and confidence it takes to stand up for something. A hint of rebellion featuring military inspired structure, unique washes detailing.
