Unwind / Rewind Equipment
Miller Weldmaster offers unwinding and rewinding equipment to be used with our custom-designed or standard line of heat-sealing machinery.
Our unwind stand assembly supplies fabric to our welding systems with automated operator pneumatic disc braking control for precise tension control. Our
automatic edge-sensing system can also be applied to the unwind stand for edge control. The unwind stands can also offer power feed to the application.

A lug-type air shaft with a position feedback controller dancer arm is utilized for precise tension control when rewinding. We also supply surface rewinds for
applications when a specific air shaft is not designated. Our rewinds are available in widths from 3-foot to 20-foot.

Technical Benefits
Here are just some of the ways
our equipment can improve your
capabilities and efficiency.
Heat, Speed, Pressure...
Hot air and hot wedge rotary heat-sealing are welding processes used to join thermoplastic materials in order to create many products like truck tarpaulins,
inflatable boats, industrial filters and environmental liners. The three principle components for rotary welding are heat, speed and pressure. The precise combination of these factors allows for the achievement of a properly-welded seam.
Heat is either electrically-produced high-tem- Motorized Material Pullers:

Hot Air Welding
Hot air rotary heat-sealing is a welding process used to join thermoplastic industrial fabrics and films using very precise heat, speed and pressure settings.
The correct combination of these three parameters allows for the achievement of a complete weld. In the case of hot air, heat is provided by blowing compressed air across electrical heat elements and is injected at the welding point. The tightly controlled temperature can range from 100°F to 1,350°F (40°C to
750°C).
Some of the scenarios and applications for which hot air is the best choice:
• The product being welded has many different shapes and curves.
• There is the need to change the weld width often throughout the manufacturing of a product or product line.
• There is a need to use multiple welding heads simultaneously.
• There is a need to produce a versatile product range.
• There is a need to start and stop often throughout the welding process.

M-100 Multi-Seal Systems
The Miller M-100 Multi-Seal System is by far the most efficient system available for joining straight seamed, multi-width panels. This system is custom built to
your specifications and dimensions. The M-100 will pull fabric directly off roll and produce multiple continuous seams to any desired length and width. The
number of seams is determined by the number of laterally adjustable welding heads. The welding heads can be easily positioned for different product specifications and panel widths.
The M-100 Multi-Seal System can be used as a complete fabrication center. We offer unwind stand assemblies, powered rewinding equipment, fabric
accumulators, programmable footage counters, and automatic cut-to-length systems.
An example of the M-100 fabrication center’s versatility: Your fabric is dispensed from the unwind stands, three panels are welded together with
two overlap seams, webbing is welded to each panel, the two edges are hemmed, the hems are automatically grommeted, the
fabric is measured and cut to length, and then rewound —all in one operation with minimal labor.
“We can essentially build any in-line
welding system to meet your production
needs.”

and increases production.”

Hot Wedge Welding
Like hot air, hot wedge rotary heat-sealing is a welding process used to join thermoplastic industrial fabrics and films using very precise heat, speed and
pressure settings. However, in the case of hot wedge welding, a heated wedge is precisely positioned at the weld point, providing the required heat. The
fabric or film is then pulled across the heated wedge. The tightly controlled temperature of the wedge can range from 100°F to 920°F (40°C to 490°C), thus
producing a perfect weld.
Some scenarios and applications for which hot wedge is the best choice:
• The product to be constructed is made of film.
• There is a need for a quiet work environment.
• The product being constructed is made of a very thin fabric.

Acrylic Welding
Hot air rotary heat-sealing is a welding process that can also be used to seam acrylic fabrics for the fabrication of awnings, boat covers, etc. Miller
Weldmaster offers a special laminated tape that has a very strong adhesive on both sides. This combination, heat-activated adhesive followed by pressure
from the weld rollers, produces a very strong bond.
With the Miller Acrylic Welding System, needle and thread are not used. This allows for the creation of a “No Leak”
water-tight seam without the worry of thread-matching or thread-fading.
Independent test lab results indicate that the acrylic welded seams are 25% stronger than the sewn
seams.

Some of the features of the Miller 112:

T-100 Universal Systems
If you have a need to fabricate many different heat-sealed products,
and are not quite sure what products you will be building in the future,
the Miller T-100 is the ultimate innovation for you. Our “build your own
system” allows you to design, develop, or expand a system that meets
your ever-changing heat-sealing needs.
Choose any of our proven welding configurations such as the Double
Roller Arm, Single Roller Arm, Swing Arm, Off Arm, or the Straight
Arm, and easily add them to your existing T-100 system at any time.
You can even add motorized material pullers or place your machine on
a Traveling Carriage System and convert it into a traveling welder.
Because we design and build all of our equipment in-house, all you
have to do is simply tell us what type of design or configuration you
would like to incorporate into your system, and we will custom engineer and build the components for you.
Double Roller Arm
The Double Roller Arm is designed to easily weld straight seams or
medium to large curves. This versatile arm is ideal for general canvas
shop applications. The T-100 System with the Double Roller Arm and
the Outboard Material Puller will allow one person to weld pre-cut
panels in one operation.
*Tarps, tents, covers, banners
Swing Arm
Immediately upon its introduction into the industry, the
Swing Arm became the industry standard for the fabrication of inflatable boats. Our exclusive Swing Arm design has the ability to instantly change its welding configuration for specific applications. The
Swing Arm, when in the horizontal position, allows you to weld a flatseam irregular-shaped tube; and when adjusted to the vertical position, the operator can weld tight curves or opposing radii
easily.

T-500 Universal Systems
Our most popular welding system, the T-500, was designed with the word
“production” in mind. Built for the toughest production demands, the T-500
gives you the versatility of a multi-function machine able to weld pre-cut
straight seams or curves while also permitting continuous direct off roll welding
for maximum seam production capabilities. The T-500 System permits fabric of up to
72" in width to pass through the throat without folding. The T-500 “build your own system” also
allows you to expand your own system to meet your ever-changing heat-sealing needs. You
can choose any of our proven lower-welding arm configurations or the Traveling Carriage
System and easily add them to your T-500 system at any time.
Double Roller Arm
The T-500, with the Double Roller Arm, and the 72" throat allows the operator to weld directly after cutting, usually no fold is needed. When used with the
variable-speed motorized Inboard Material Puller, the T-500 will pull the add-on fabric panel through the machine easily to eliminate operator fatigue. The
T-500, with the Double Roller Arm and the Outboard and Inboard Material Pullers is by far the most efficient and production-oriented heat-sealing system on
the market for the welding of straight seams.
*Tarps, tents, shelters, structures
Double Roller Arm with Unwind Stands
Off roll or unwind stands can be easily added to the T-500 System for off-roll welding. When
used with off roll stands, the T-500 can weld fabric continuously without operator assistance.
The two unwind stands are positioned in front of the welding system and the T-500
pulls the fabric off the two rolls, seaming them together without stopping. Using
an unwind and a footage control, one operator can have a welder and sheeter
in one operation. This system eliminates the need to pre-cut fabric.
