The Short Description
The Ironman II Mini offers state-of-the-art attenuation technology in a conveniently sized
package for amplifiers of 30W or less. A Tuned Reactive Load and Volume
Compensation Circuitry deliver extremely transparent attenuation all the way down to
bedroom volume. The Line-Out feature provides Re-Amping or D.I. capability. A
unique Solo feature provides a selectable 3db/6db volume boost under footswitch control.
The Features List
* Tuned Reactive Load
* Volume Compensation Circuitry
* Footswitchable Solo Feature
* 18 Attenuation Steps

* 30W R.M.S. Max Power Handling
The Long Description
Overview
The Ironman II Mini power attenuator solves the age-old problem of getting a great
"cranked amp" sound from your tube amplifier at a reasonable volume. The Ironman
allows you to push your amplifier to full output power, while sending only a fraction of
that power to the speaker. This allows you to achieve natural power tube overdrive and
distortion at any volume level you choose - even down to bedroom volume.
Tuned Reactive Load
The load circuit is a critical part of the attenuator design. This is the part of the circuit
which absorbs and dissipates the power from the amplifier, and also provides an
appropriate load impedance to the amplifier's output stage. The Ironman II Mini uses a
complex reactive load, which simulates the frequency dependent impedance curve of a
real speaker. This reactive load circuit is significantly more effective than the simple
resistive load found in most attenuators. While a simple resistive load can squash the
dynamics and muddy the tone, the Ironman II Mini's complex reactive load preserves the
natural tone and feel of your amplifier.

The Long Description (cont'd)
Volume Compensation Circuitry
The ear perceives sound quite differently at low volume than it does at high volume. In
order to better preserve the cranked amp experience at low volume, the Ironman II Mini
contains special circuitry to compensate for these differences. The result is a very natural
sounding attenuation. The tone remains deep, rich, and present at even the lowest
settings.
Solo Feature
In live performance, it's often useful to boost the volume for soloing. The Ironman II
Mini provides a footswitchable "Solo" feature for this very purpose. When the Solo
feature is activated via the footswitch, the attenuation level is decreased by a calibrated
amount, giving you a boost in volume for soloing. You have the choice of a 3db boost or
a 6db boost, selectable by the Range switch. An LED indicator displays the status of the
Solo feature.
Presence Switch
The Presence switch provides subtle control of brightness and dynamics. It allows you to
tailor the response to match your acoustic environment, and to correct for an overly
bright amplifier. Three settings are provided: 0db, -3db, and -6db.
Line-Out
A Line-Out jack allows you to send the attenuated signal from your amplifier to any linelevel input, or the instrument input of another guitar amplifier.
Silent Recording / D.I. / Re-Amping
The Ironman II Mini can be used as a reactive load device for silent recording, ReAmping, or D.I. purposes. By simply selecting the lowest attenuation setting (-32db), the
speaker may be safely disconnected and the unit will act as a standalone load device.
Power Handling / Impedance Compatibility
The Ironman II Mini may be used with any amplifier rated at 30W R.M.S. power output
or less, and having an 8 Ohm output impedance. For best results, it should be used with
an 8 Ohm speaker.
