Pennecon Cleans Up for Summer
In keeping with Pennecons commitment to the environment and to the community,
Pennecon employees participated in this year’s Environment Week (June 2nd– 8th)
by hosting three community clean ups and taking part in the CBC Morning Show’s
15 minute cleanup.
Twenty-five Pennecon Ltd and Pennecon Heavy Civil Ltd. employees took to the
streets of Paradise for the Town of Paradise Curby Clean-Up Day on May 24th.
In only a few hours over one hundred bags of garbage were collected along Topsail
Road between the Pennecon office and the TransCanada Highway exit.
Concrete Team
On June 4th the Morning Show hosted a 15 Minute Clean-Up in St. John’s.
Environment, Health and Safety staff gladly showed their support while helping to
tidy up along the busy downtown water front. CBC Radio interviewed Environment
Manager Deidre Puddister, who shared information about Pennecon’s annual
clean-up events.
Pennecon Energy staff participated in the St. John’s Clean and Beautiful clean up
on June 6th. With over 45 employees from the Pennecon Energy Water Street office
participating, we were able to collect trash all along Sudbury Street, Leslie Street,
Alexander Street, Water Street and Victoria Park, and even along the Waterford
River Walking trail.
Energy Team
With support from Pennecon Limited’s Health, Safety and Environment team,
Pennecon’s concrete division participated in CBS’s 3 hour Challenge on June 7th.
We cleaned up the local parking area near Little Pond on the Fox Trap Access Road,
gathering enough garbage to fill two pickup trucks!
Thanks to all participants and to the individuals who helped organize these events!
With your support, Pennecon will continue to make our communities beautiful!

We were saddened to learn that despite the amazing

Unlock the Potential ….Outpace the Competition …Strengthen the Bottom Line
To help enhance communication within the Company, in April of
2013 we piloted an in-house Dale Carnegie communication training
course. A group of Pennecon managers were invited to attend the
well- known Dale Carnegie course. The course teaches participants
how to communicate effectively, strengthen interpersonal relationships,
manage stress and handle fast-paced changing environments.
This course was hosted at our office at 1309 Topsail Road, by
Mark Baldwin, a Dale Carnegie facilitator. Sessions were held one
morning a week, over a nine week period.
The pilot proved to be a huge success and was highly recommended
by members of the first graduating class. We will continue the
course offering as part of our training plan for managers and other
approved employees.
