ORCHARD PARK ELEMENTARY
PTO CHATTER
March 2013
THANK YOU FOR A TERRIFIC FAMILY FUN DAY 2013!!
We were able to raise right around $8000.00 to benefit our students!!
From our President, Sharon Freeze: “I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who
helped make Family Fun Day a big success!! We can't pull off an event the size of Family Fun
Day without help from everyone. Whether you chaired a committee, donated a baked good,
bought or sold raffle tickets, organized the class basket, volunteered to work a shift, bid on
silent auction items, or brought your family to enjoy the day we really appreciate everyone's
contributions. The final numbers are still being figured but it looks like we earned about
$8000.00 for our students at Orchard Park!”
Volunteers!! YOU came through! What a beautiful gift of giving their time so many OP friends
and family gave! Thank you to all the teachers, staff, former staff and students, Fairmont High
School National Honors Society students, and parent volunteers! Our treasured tradition also
brought back OP alumni families to volunteer! Give these folks a hand!

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR FAMILY FUN DAY SPONSORS
Congratulations to all of you who scored great deals at our Silent Auction this year! Several generous local businesses helped support our school through donations for our Family Fun Day Silent Auction. We were thankful for
the response to the items donated this year. A $25 donation can easily triple in dollar value by the end of our silent auction, through the bidding process, therefore generating even more financial support for our children's
school. To thank these organizations for their generosity, we ask that you consider choosing to visit their establishments throughout the year. When you visit, try to remember to ask for the owner or manager and mention
that we appreciate their support of our school this year. We want to show them that given the economic environment we find ourselves in today, their willingness to help us goes a long way, is not taken for granted, and is appreciated!

VOLUNTEER CORNER
From our President, Sharon Freeze, “I would like to say a special thanks to our chair people who
gave so much time to ensure a great day for everyone!
AMETEUR PHOTOGRAPHER AND ‘ASSISTANT’ NEEDED
We come up with volunteer opportunities for every type of hobbyist. This time we’re looking
for anyone who would enjoy spending an afternoon taking a group picture of each class with
their teacher in the beginning of May. Our goal is to be able to continue to offer
this option to families at a low cost ($3-4) versus having a professional company
come in that is not as cost effective.
Every good photographer needs an assistant right?! We need someone willing
to process the photo orders, have the photo prints made and organize them for
distribution. This job could easily be done from home.
Sharon Freeze is looking forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in
either opportunity! Contact her at [email protected] or 299-8657.

FAMILY FEEDBACK
What part of Family Fun Day attracts your family to attend the event each year? What part could you
live without?
We would like to give every family the opportunity to freely (and anonymously) share their input on topics. Responses will not be
published, but used as a discussion tool for the board members. So, this month, please take a moment to share your opinion. Just
jot down your thoughts, clip out this form and send it in marked PTO. Only include your name if you would like a personal response.
STUDENT QUESTION OF THE MONTH RESPONSES
Thanks for sharing your observations for our February question of the month, “What is the nicest random act of

“Mrs. Schuller opened the door for a student.” - Hannah Adams, Gr. 3
“Treating others the way you want them to treat you.” - Anthony Braun, Gr. 1
