European Beach Handball Tour Finals (season of 2012)
European Beach Handball Tour Finals (season of 2012)
1 – 2 June 2013 in Umag / CRO
Umag, Croatia
The first destination at the northern entrance to Istria conquers with its
allure, diversity and richness of the offer. It is Umag, a little town which
with about 45 km of the coastline and interesting hinterland integrates
special features of the whole region and might be the best introduction
into a different experience of the Mediterranean. This famous business
and tourist centre is at only 40 km from Trieste and 150 from Ljubljana.
Umag’s history is extremely interesting; it was discovered by Roman
noblemen who decided to make it their summer residence.
The glamour, magnificence and glare of the times can be seen today in
Venetian houses of the old town – city walls and fortresses are partially
preserved as well as some renaissance and baroque buildings and
churches.
The hinterland reveals beautiful hills with fortifications that offer us
magnificent scenery and marvellous history, abundance of autochthonous
agricultural specialties and friendly hosts. This place is also famous for
the wine roads, among the most popular in Croatia, with 22 established
wine producers. Olive roads are also fun to explore and to find out a lot
about the processing of this highly appreciated fruit, as well as taste its
products! Sea in Umag is crystal clear and suitable for swimming from
May till October.
Umag is a city of tourism and sports which is most close to the world
through its tennis. It has been the host to the ATP tournament for years,
and many of the greats of this white sport. The tourist offer is truly very
rich: sea, beaches, greenery, sports facilities on the coast and caving and
mountain terrains in the hinterland. With superb accommodation conditions,
a wellness oasis, casino bars, traditional festivals, many cultural events and
a rich variety of gastronomic offer you will really enjoy Umag.
