Spectacular cycling tour in the rugged Galician region of northern Spain.
Overview:
Experience the passion, excitement and emotion of "La Vuelta" during the first week of the
race in the spectacularly rugged region of Galicia in the northwest of Spain. Bike the same
roads as the pros just hours before they arrive and enjoy VIP access to stage finishes and
viewing areas.
Starting in Ourense, the third largest town in Galicia, the race will make its way north west
towards the coast to the picturesque fishing port of Finisterre, or "Land's End", as the Romans
baptised it. Literally translated as the "end of the earth" this magical area of Galicia offers
some of Spain's most isolated and breathtaking beaches. After a couple of nights saoking up
this rugged, coastal scenery we make our way to the spectacular northern coast of Galicia
before returning south to Monforte de Lemos and finishing the tour with a night in the sacred
city of Santiago de Compostela.
La Vuelta is the most intimate of the 3 professional grand cycling tours, the relaxed
atmosphere and accessibility to the pro cyclists and their teams make it a very special
experience. Staying in deluxe 4 and 5-star hotels with VIP access to the race areas and
spectacular supported bike rides with our experienced Bike Spain guides, we can
guarantee this will be unforgettable trip of a lifetime!

August 19th, 2016
Descripción Larga:
After meeting with your Bike Spain guides in Santiago de Compostela this morning, we
will make our way southeast into the heart of Galicia towards Ourense, the starting point
for this year's Vuelta race.
Located on the banks of the Minho river, Ourense's origin can be traced back to the
Romans and the presence of hot springs called the Burgas, which can still be seen today.
Before arriving in the town, we will test out the bikes and warm up the legs for our first
ride of the week.
This evening you will have time to explore the city centre of Ourense with its simple yet
beautiful Romanesque catherdral dating back to the 12th century, the second oldest in
Galicia.
