Welcome and thank you for attending the first annual AUSAM-Con. It
hasn’t even been a year since I braved to speak up in front of the Auburn
University Society of Anime and Manga (AUSAM) one Tuesday night
about sponsoring an anime festival to bring together the community of
fans around the area. Soon after the announcement, a group of people
came together to start planning this event. It has been stressful, time
consuming, and sometimes so very frustrating—but we will know if it
was worth it, if people enjoy what we’ve worked so hard to put together. So feel free to explore what we have
to offer and have fun—after all, we’re doing this for you!
I would also like to extend an invitation to our guests to join us every Tuesday night at 7:00pm for our
regular AUSAM meetings. We’ll be meeting in the Haley Center, Room 2116. Our first meeting this year will
be January 15, where we will be picking the series to be viewed over spring semester. We have some fun things
being planned for the club over the course of the year and I hope to see lots of new faces this coming week,
eager to meet new people and watch anime. You can keep up with what is going on with AUSAM through our
website www.ausam-con.com. Check out the AUSAM section, as well as the forums.

KATIE GEORGE
Katie is a sophomore costuming major at Auburn University. She started cosplaying in 2004 and has since
worn her 30+ creations at conventions all across the US. In 2005, she co-founded Coconut Bubble Sex
Cosplay, a group of costumers from different parts of the country that come together to perform humorous
skits at Masquerade events. Katie often writes the scripts herself and CBS has won several awards, most
recently Best in Show at Anime Central 2007 and Best Group Performance at Anime Expo 2007.
SILAS ZEE
Silas has been with the Transformers brand since the toy line’s debut in 1983. Being an orphan raised by
rabid turkeys, he had a difficult time keeping his collection safe from his feathered siblings. Silas’s love for
the brand helped him through his years at the Jean Claude Van Damme School of Acting, where he earned
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Shoveling. Transformers collecting has been kind to him, except for one
illegal Targetmaster sale that resulted in him being subsequently banned from the country of Urmamma. Silas
now resides in Alaska where he owns and maintains the nation’s most prestigious skunk ranch.
LEEANNE BAGWELL
Under the alias “scottishfae,” LeeAnne (otherwise known as ella) has self-published over 30 stories in six
different fandoms over the course of four years. It all started with a story called In the Future Holds the Past
and has continued through many fandom phases. A chronic multitasker, ella is currently working on several
stories including the award-winning Unexpected Endeavors, the Naruto contest fic Under-Covers, and several
other one-shot series. ella posts from anywhere up to 25 fanfiction communities online, including her own
fanfiction livejournal community, scottishfae_fic (http://community.livejournal.com/scottishfae). She writes
both “het” and yaoi fiction. ella is also a moderator and judge for the Inuyasha fanguild community, Shikon
Awards (http://dimensionalhammer.org/akuneko/shikonarchive/about.html), co-creator of Anime Showdown
(http://community.livejournal.com/anime_showdown), founder and coordinator of AUSAM-Con, and the
current president of AUSAM. On top of these extra curricular activities, ella is also a Masters student at AU.

The good, the bad, the…er, imaginative. From
horrible “Mary Sues,” to award winning stories, come
discuss fanfiction as its greatest…and worst, with
other fanfic writers, readers, and enthusiast. Learn the
process some of the best writers use, where you can
find good fanfiction and where you can post your own.
Come join the fandom machine and watch your sanity
slip away!
Warning: While no “adult” material will be discussed
during this panel, there will be, at least, an open
discussion about yaoi. If you have a problem with
male x male relationships, please be aware of this
when you come to the panel. We reserve the right
to remove any person from any event if you act

who knows, with a couple of AUSAM-Con challenges
in the works, maybe your musical talents could win
you a prize!

AUSAM-Raffle
Members of AUSAM have gone through great lengths
to collect a variety of anime and manga related
merchandise, all to be given away to several lucky
guests of AUSAM-Con! Prizes can be seen through
the front window of the VIP Lounge (Room 217).
Ellibility for the AUSAM-Raffle is included with
entrance into the VIP Lounge.*
*The AUSAM-Con staff is asking for a $5 donation to enter the
VIP Lounge, and thus be eligible for the raffle. All procedes will
be collected for AUSAM and used for the next year’s AUSAMCon.

Based off the Livejournal community of the same
name, this all-day polling contest will be set up
outside the VIP lounge. Starting at 11:00am, every
hour a new battle will be set up in a 10 contestant, 9
battle bracket. A locked box will be set up with pens
and paper next to posters of the hour’s contestants.
Guests can fill out who they think will win, along with
their names, and put it into the box. At the end of the
hour, a new battle will begin while the last battle is
tallied. The winner of each battle will go on to the
next battle until only one remains.
Guests will also have the opportunity to win

something. For each battle, all votes for the victor
are put into a larger lottery. A single winner will be
pulled at the end of the day to win a prize from the
raffle table. Guest votes will only be counted once
each battle, but may cast a vote in every battle to

After finding his grandfather’s old Go board, Hikaru
Shindo meets a long-departed spirit of a once great
Go master, Sai Fujiwara. Under Sai’s tutelage,
Hikaru begins to compete in this time-honored and
difficult game.
The Story of Saiunkoku 12:00
Shuurei and her father have fallen onto hard times,
regardless of their noble heritage. Faced with the
reality of her situation, Shuurei agrees to become the
Emperor Shi Ryuuki’s consort in order to help him
take his role as Emperor more seriously.
Full Metal Panic! 12:30
A young mercenary boy with the peace-oriented
organization MITHRIL is placed in charge of the
protection of Kaname Chidori, a high schooler
with a top secret military gift unknown to Kaname
herself. When the socially-inept Sousuke, who knows
nothing of high school life and far too much about
weapons and military tactics, enrolls in Kaname’s
high school to better protect her, hilarity ensues.

Abe no Masahiro is a young man living in the
shadow of his grandfather, the great onmyouji Abe
The continuation of the series Naruto, Shippuden
starts two years after Naruto ends. Now 16 years
old, Naruto hasn’t forgotten his promise to Sakura
to bring former-teammate Sasuke back to Konoha.
But Akatsuki is getting impatient and has stepped up
efforts to capture all the Jinchuriki, and extract the
tailed demons from their hosts, including Gaara and
Naruto.

Dressed from a young age by her mother, Hinamori
Amu has been proclaimed to be the “cool,” punk
student with the fashionable clothing and a biting
attitude. The problem is, Amu dislikes this outsider’s
view of herself and wishes only for the world to see
her as the “cute girl.” Her wish is granted in the
form of three eggs containing alternatives of her
personality that can grant supernatural abilities, if
only temporarily.

Toraji Ishida, a broke and hungry teacher and school
kendo adviser, makes a bet with an old friend that he
can win against the other’s girl’s kendo team. Now he
just needs to add onto the kendo club so that he can

Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne 3:00
Marron, the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, seeks
to destroy demons trying to possess humans.
Unfortunately for Marron, the demons often hide in
pieces of art, leaving the police to believe she is only
a common thief.
One Piece, Movie 4: Dead End no
Bouken 3:30
Luffy and the crew, short on cash, enter the Dead End
Race, a secret competition between pirates for the
huge cash reward. Unfortunately, everything is not as

to kill all of the competitors for their own reasons.
Glass Fleet 5:00
Michel Vaurban is the leader of The People’s Army,
a group of revolutionaries struggling for freedom
against Vetti Sforza, the Holy Emperor, and the
aristocratic-elite ran society. Michel, after almost
being captured, meets Cleo of the Wind, a strange
man with a glass space ship that bears the crest of the
former ruling family.
Welcome to the NHK 5:30
Satou Tatsuhiro, a young man who has holed himself
in his apartment, afraid of the outside, is taken over
with conspiracies of the world, including of the
nefarious “NHK” (Nihon Hikikomori Kyōkai).
Bokurano 6:00
15 Children are recruited by Kokopelli, a man who
claims to be a programmer for a brand new game
to beta test it for him. Fourteen of them sign it, and
shortly therafter they awaken on the beach with the
odd feeling that it was only a dream. That night, two
giants robots appear and the children are teleported
into one of them and greeted by Kokopelli. He
teaches them how to pilot the robot and that they
must defeat the other robot in order to save the Earth.
But there are even more sinister overtones than
initially suspected.
Claymore 6:30
Monstrous humanoids known as Yoma haunt the
lands. To combat them a nameless and secretive
organization creates the Claymores, half-human/halfYoma warriors to protect humanity. Our story follows
Clare, a Claymore sent to find and cleanse a town of
its Yoma infestation, and her struggle to hold onto
her humanity while using her Yoma given powers.
Darker than Black 7:00
Blending in naturally with normal humans,
contractors and dolls are hated and feared by the
general populations. Contractors have super-human
powers but with a wicked twist, after they have used
their ability they must fulfill their “contract” and do
some sort of task—like singing a song or breaking

your fingers. Groups of contractors, hired out by
private groups and countries, are working against
each other for survival with horrific and awesome
clashes of enormous powers.
Hellsing Ultimate 1 7:30
Hellsing Ultimate tells the tale of Alucard, a vampire
who hunts other vampires, Seras Victoria, police-girl
turned vampire, and Integra Hellsing, master and
leader of the Hellsing Organization, in their fight
against vampires and other freaks. The Hellsing
Ultimate OVA more closely follows the manga than
the previously published television series.
AMV Hell 4 8:30
The last in the series, AMV Hell 4 is the longest and
arguably the best of the entire series. It had a wide
variety of clips, music, and creators, brought together
to create an AMV comedic masterpiece.

Now and Then, Here and Now 10:00
Shu is just an average teenage boy until he meets
Lala-Ru and is mysteriously pulled into another
world. Now he must find a way to keep Lala-Ru safe
in an unknown, horrible, desert world.
Fushigi Yuugi 10:30
Miaka is transported back in time to Ancient China
where she finds out she is the priestess of Suzaku,
one of the four gods. Now it is her duty to set on a
journey to find the seven sacred guardians of Suzaku.
Minami-ke 11:00
The story of the three Minami-ke sisters and their
slightly dysfunctional lives together.
Princess Tutu 11:30
An ordinary duck finds herself transformed into a
young girl named, Ahiru, and begins to attend ballet
school. But nothing is as it appears in this universe,
especially when this duck-turned-girl transforms
once again to Princess Tutu, a powerful ballet fighter
who is charged with collecting the scattered pieces of
the Prince Mytho’s heart.
Moyashimon 12:00
Sawaki was born with the ability to see microbes.
On his first day at Agriculture University, he
demonstrates this bizarre talent and becomes the case
study of a crazed professor and his goth/punk female
assistant.
Nodame Cantabile 12:30
Shinichi Chiaki is one of Japan’s most promising
pianists. Unfortunately, his arrogance has landed
him in the reject class with his immature next-door
neighbor, Nada. Now Chiaki must work his way
back to the top, working with Nada, to accomplish
his goals of composing and conducting.
kingdoms, the Magical King Munto falls down and
tries to break through the barrier to Earth, where one
young girl, Yumemi, who can see the kingdoms, is
the only possibly the only hope.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 4:00
In the tradition of the Gundam series, a peaceseeking group calling themselves Celestial Being
has produced four talent soldiers to pilot powerful
Gundams in order to help promote peace...even if it
means starting a war.
Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch 4:30
Yakitate!! Japan 1:00
Azuma Kazuma dreams of creating the perfect,
Japanese bread. In order to accomplish his dream, he
looks to the famous bakery, Pantasia.
The mermaid Princess Luchia gives her magical pearl
to a young human boy who fell overboard one night.
However, realizing that she needs her pearl to protect
her kingdom, she must travel to the human world
to reclaim the precious artifact, using the power of
music to protect her.
Prism Ark 1:30
Mushishi 5:00
Hyaweh and Priecia have joined forces as knights to
protect Windland from the invading Sablum Empire.
The battle intensifies when the Sablums hire the
mercenaries Sister Hell and Darkness Knight, and a
group of talented warriors from Windland must join
together to fight for their country.
Eyeshield 21 2:00
There are many clubs at Deimon High School, one of
the least popular being the American Football Club;
however, for natural running back, Kobayakawa
Sena, he finds new friends and new possibilities in
this rather odd club.
xxxHolic 2:30
Mushi are mysterious creatures that are neither plant
nor animal. Only a few people can ever see them,
though they exist in many forms in many different
places. Mushishi are the people who study these
strange organisms and their interaction with people.
Mushishi follows Ginko, a traveling Mushishi, and
the strange Mushi and their behavior with humans,
sometimes destructive, and sometimes not.
Grenadier 5:30
The buxom blonde bombshell, Rushuna, is a power
gunfighter in her own right. With a unique way
of reloading her gun, Rushuna goes around with a
message of peace, only using her expert skills with
a gun as a way to protect the peace and the people
around her.
Cursed with the ability to see and attract evil
spirits, Kimihiro Watanuki agrees to work for the

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor,
Genshiken 2 follows the adventures of the hopeless
otakus in Genshiken: the Society for the Study of
Modern Visual Culture. This series investigates and
shows many aspects of otaku culture while also
providing engaging characters through whom we see
the various facets of otakudom. Featuring such issues
as production of a doujinshi, cosplay, American
otaku, graduation from college, finding a job, and
more!
We’ve had our series on Go, now it’s time for
shougi’s turn in this murder mystery series about
Shion, a 12 year old rising shougi star who witnessed
the brutal murder of her parents at age 5 and lost her
voice, who was adopted by a shougi master neighbor
and is now climbing the ranks in the female shougi.
Kyo Kara Maoh! OVA 1 7:00
A return to the series Kyo Kara Maoh!, Yuuri is
transported back to Shin Makoku with former-Great
Sage, Ken Murata. With the old wars between
humans and Mazoku beginning to fade away, the
young Maou travels to the friendly nation of Calera.
While there he meets the beautiful and mysterious
king of Small Shimaron, Sararegi (Sara) who invites
Yuuri to his country. But something is odd about
the young human king, which has both Conrad and
Yozak worried—not to mention Wolfram, Yuuri’s
angry fiancé and his fiery temper.
Revolutionary Girl Utena 7:30
A childhood meeting with the Rose Prince has left
a weighty impression on the young Utena, who
vows to become a Prince herself, one day. Dressing
as a boy, an older Utena challenges a member of
the Ohtori Academy Student Council to defend the
honor of her friend. When she wins the duel, Utena
becomes officially engaged to the Rose Bride and
is drawn into a world of politics and duels as she
is forced to defend her claim on the other young
woman.
Higurashi no Naku Koroni 8:00
This eerie series of cute looking young teenagers
follows the murder mystery that the small rural
village of Hinamizawa hides. A smash hit in
Japan, this series is packed full of gory scenes and
surprising plot twists. In a world where everyone
looks so innocent, you can never know who to trust.
Cat Soup 8:30
Nyatto, a cat, follows Death after he takes his sister’s

Elfen Lied 9:30
A new branch of humans, the Diclonius, are
identified by the horns on their head and “vectors,”
or invisible arms. These mutants are feared and
ostracized by society, percolating hate and anger in
these young girls until they finally take their revenge.

God of Cookery 10:00
From the mind of Stephen Chow, this movie is a
parody of the famous Japanese TV show, Iron Chef.
Great Yokai War 12:00
A young boy, after moving to a small village when
his parents divorced, is chosen to be the guardian of
good during an annual festival. His new position
turns into something more than just a title when a
war is started between the local population, both
human and yokai, and an invading, evil spirit.
Battlefield Baseball 2:30
Seido High has the chance to go all the way to the
top this year with their baseball team. Unfortunately
for them their first opponents are the infamous Gedo
High School, known for their martial arts combat
called “Fighting Baseball.” In this life or death
match against the zombie-like Gedo Team, the Head
Teacher must recruit Jubeh, a new student at Sedo
High, who has almost mystical pitching skills to lead
the fight. Death and hilarity ensues as the two teams
face off in a game to the death!
Casshern 4:00
In a near future dystopian society, the geneticist Dr.
Azuma, while working a process to rejuvenate cells
and save humanity, is involved in the accidental
creation of a race of mutant humans known as the
Shinzo Ningen. The Shinzo Ningen bear a grudge
against humanity and, in finding lost technology,
begin to wage a war of extermination against them.
Humanity’s only hope is Casshern, a warrior brought
back from the dead with Dr. Azuma’s research.
Versus 6:30
A prisoner has recently escaped from jail and is
meeting some mobsters at a pickup point in the
forest. Unfortunately for them, dumping your dead
bodies in a place called the “Forest of Resurrection”
is a bad idea. Watch as they fight to survive, and also
as our nameless prisoner, KSC2-303, learns about
the past he cannot remember in a climatic battle of
zombies and swordplay.
Lone Wolf and Cub 8:30
a D-Ranked mission takes a turn for the worse when
the mysterious knight, Temujin, shows up, along with
a large, amphibious metal ship.
Hayate, the Combat Butler 12:30

any person whose name is written within its pages.

Cosplay Rules
1. All Costume Contest entries must fall within the genre of Japanese anime, manga, or video games.
2. No store-bought, rented, or commissioned costumes will be eligible for prizes in the Costume Contest.
However, store bought props and/or pieces are allowed. Those in commissioned costumes WILL be allowed
to do a walk-on or perform a skit, but will still not be eligible for awards. Models may be used for those who
wish to enter the contest but not wear the costume themselves. The creator must be present at pre-judging to
discuss the construction process to be eligible for awards.
3. Registration and pre-judging will take place in Room 246, between 3:00 and 5:30.
4. Each participant must display his or her costume to a panel of judges before the Costume Contest as well
as a walk-on during the costume contest to be elligible for awards. Entrants who just wish to walk across the
stage will not be eligible for awards.
5. When you register for the costume contest, you will be given a number and a time slot for judging. If you
are not in costume and at the prejudging room for your slot, you will not be eligible for awards.
6. You MUST provide a reference image of your character at prejudging. Without it, you are not eligible for
awards.
7. Skits are allowed only if audio is pre-recorded and burned to a CD. Microphones will not be provided.
MP3s saved on ipods do not count. In order for your skit to be played onstage, the audio CD must be
submitted at the time of pre-judging and reviewed by the staff.
8. Only ONE entry allowed per person.
9. Weapons are not permitted on stage or on campus period. Please save your weapons (whether they be real,
imitation, or homemade) and large props for a bigger con.
10. Though we’re mostly all college kids here, there will be some high schoolers and possibly even younger
crowds. Keep it PG-13. Nudity, partial nudity, and suggestive gestures are not allowed on stage. Staff retains
the right to remove you from the stage if you are found to be in violation of this rule.
11. No harmful or potentially harmful substances allowed. Do not leave anything on the stage.
12. Group entries are allowed.
