Dr. Tim & Anne Jordan
We believe kids and teens do best in an environment of unconditional love,
acceptance, and safety. Tomorrow’s leaders will need the skill-set that allows for
interpersonal effectiveness, emotional intelligence, collaboration with diverse
people, and for compassionate leadership. Camp Weloki teaches these skills,
giving our campers the best chance to make a difference in our world and in
their everyday lives.
Tim Jordan M.D. and his wife, Anne dedicate their lives to helping children and
parents create close, safe, and loving connections in their families. Since 1988,
Dr. Jordan a Behavioral pediatrician has provided counseling to kids and teens in
Chesterfield, MO. He is also an author, international speaker, and media
consultant. Tim and Anne now bring camp to schools with a program called
“Strong Girls, Strong World” where they work with students to create a more
caring classroom community. The Jordan’s founded Camp Weloki in 1991.

Our Community & Staff
Close Connections
Our counselors are the heart and soul of camp Weloki. Each summer, more than
3⁄4 of our counselors are past campers who return to give back what they received.
They know camp from the inside out which helps them relate to campers. We look
for people who are safe, nurturing, fun, understanding, good listeners, good team
players, and great role models! All staff participate in their own personal growth so
they are “emotionally intelligent”. We have staff training sessions and on-the-job
training at our weekend retreats. Dr. Tim Jordan is present at every camp and is
closely involved in camper learning and fun times too!

What Makes Our Camp Unique?
Topics Campers will learn about include:
• Courseroom Time... We devote 3 hours daily to leadership development,
personal growth and awareness, plus social-emotional skills and learning the
skills necessary for success in relationships and life.
• Small Size... We have only 25 campers per age group with a camper to
counselor ratio of 2.5 to 1. We run two age groups during each camp
concurrently. We have co-d and ALL-GIRL sessions for kids ages 8-17.
1) Leadership – The best leaders are
those who know themselves and are
grounded, empathetic, and
understand what makes them and
others tick. Take charge of your life.
2) Friendships – Deepening friendships;
handling teasing and bullying; dealing
with drama and cliques; peaceful
nonviolent conflict resolution;
“Camp helped me believe in myself and
teamwork and community;
do things I never thought I could.”
developing empathy and understanding.
– Tori, age 10
3) Stress – Healthy ways to deal with the normal ups and downs of life;
preventing stress and creating more balance; learning self quieting skills.
4) Emotions – Healthy ways to express all your feelings vs. numbing out or
distractions, etc. How to support friends who are upset.
5) Loss – Dealing with loss; the death of family members, friends or pets;
divorce; friends who move away.
6) Transitions – Entering middle school, high school and college; new schools;
family moves; the birth of a sibling; becoming a teenager.
7) Teenager Issues – Body image; relationships with parents; dating; motivation;
being true to yourself; knowing yourself; setting boundaries; integrity;
changing values and beliefs; finding your passions and purpose.
8) Responsibility – Independence and self-responsibility; self-motivation; taking
responsibility for your happiness; own your mistakes and stop blaming;
reframing/reinterpreting past negative experiences.
• We Empower Campers... To be in charge of their camp experience by teaching them consensus building and peaceful conflict resolution models. Our
whole camp has a “family meeting” where campers brainstorm, choose,
organize and lead their afternoon &
evening activities every day. We give them
lots of opportunities to be leaders and to
support each other.
“Camp has helped me to be a quality leader, in
my job and in my life.” – Becky, Camp Counselor
Time for Learning
Adults tell us all the time that they wish they had a safe place to talk when they
were growing up. That is why we created Camp Weloki.
We have “course room” time everyday where through open discussion, role
playing, and experiential exercises, campers have the opportunity to share and
learn with their peers. Camp Weloki is a place where people really listen and
understand who you are and what you’re going through; a place to be
real and honest, to be yourself and
be appreciated; a place to hear what
your peers are feeling and going
through and to know you’re not the
only one facing these challenges.
Many campers feel more
comfortable being real and open at
camp than at any other place in their
lives. It becomes their safe haven,
where they can get away from it all,
relax, have fun, and learn from each
other and their counselors.
“Camp has made me a stronger, better,
more well-rounded person.”
– Becca, age 16
