Ocala, located in the heart of Marion County, Florida, earned
its nickname “Horse Capital of the World” for being the
breeding and training grounds for many equine champions
of the past, present and future. Located in the northern
central part of Florida, Marion County is home to more than
1200 horse farms, including about 900 thoroughbred farms,
totaling about 77,000 acres.
Ocala offers residents and vistors alike the perfect dose of
nature and metropolis. Some days you can find yourself
canoeing down the crystal clear Silver River in the Ocala
National Forest one minute, and enjoying a movie premier
with famous celebrities the next.
