It took months of
patience for the
designation, but FCS
is finally listed as a
charity with the IRS.
Please consider
making a tax

build our much
needed cat shelter...

Now a word from...
Ben Long, president
Our first year as a cat

activity that almost
knocked us off our feet! Ben

Fostering for FCS
We could not accomplish
any of our goals without
the generosity and
kindness of our devoted
fosters. In 2014 we
received 68 applications
from people wishing to
open their hearts and
homes to cats and kittens
in need of care. With a
brick & mortar shelter on
the horizon, what role
will these fosters play?

sound of a strange noise near her

Word from Ben...
The need was two-fold: a physical
shelter and a trap-neuter-return program.
From humble beginnings in May, 2014,
FCS has built strong momentum, from
an extensive foster network, trap-neuterreturns in Ferndale and Royal Oak
Township, constructing outdoor cat
shelters, and finding furever homes for
60+ cats and kittens. We held several
successful fundraisers, and teamed up
with several other organizations to TNR community cat colonies and
vet adoptable cats and kittens. FCS has a core group of volunteers
who have done amazing job, and a fantastic group of foster families
that care for the cats until they are adopted. Several medical success
stories also filled our first year, giving cats a second chance after
being treated at the vet. 2015 brings big things for FCS, such as
opening an actual shelter. And of course, continuing to do all the
great things for our feline friends! Thank you all for your support! Benjamin D. Long, President
