En Jalisco toman
agua contaminada
Al menos un centenar de habitantes de los poblados de San
Pedro Itzicán y Agua caliente, en
el occidental estado mexicano de
Jalisco, murieron en la última década debido a problemas renales
y decenas se enferman por el agua
potable contaminada, afirman
especialistas. Ubicados en la ribera del lago de
Chapala, los pobladores de estas
comunidades luchan por subsistir
entre la pobreza, la desnutrición
y la amenaza que representa para
su salud el agua con sustancias
nocivas. Esas comunidades de origen
indígena han ingerido por décadas
el agua proveniente de un pozo
termal y un manantial que surten
a la red pública, pero que no es
tratada para el consumo humano,
dice Enrique Lira, miembro del
Foro Socioambiental Guadalajara,
una organización religiosa que da
seguimiento al problema. Explica que los análisis realizados por diversas instituciones
públicas revelan que desde hace
al menos cinco años el agua tiene
altos niveles de sulfuros, manganeso, fluoruros y heces fecales que
superan lo permitido por la Norma
Oficial Mexicana. "La más elevada es la de los
sulfuros, en los estudios anteriores
que tenemos desde 2011 hasta
2016, (el de) 2013 tiene 21,000
veces más de sulfuros que la
norma", dice Lira, quien sostiene
que estas sustancias son fuente del
creciente número de casos de insuficiencia renal y malformaciones
congénitas. El problema, dice, no es nuevo.
Hay análisis realizados por la
Comisión Estatal del Agua que
revelan las anomalías en la calidad
del líquido desde 2011. Fuentes de esa institución aseguran que es al ayuntamiento de
Poncitlán, al que pertenecen las
comunidades, al que corresponde
el saneamiento del agua, y no a
ellos. En 2012 la Comisión de Derechos Humanos de Jalisco emitió
una recomendación al municipio
de Poncitlán para que asegurara

hay un censo oficial de decesos
o enfermos, Lira afirma que al
menos cien muertes de la última
década han tenido como causa
registrada enfermedades del riñón. Decenas han recibido tratamiento y unos cuantos un trasplante. Actualmente hay al menos 15
casos de personas con insuficiencia renal; el menor de ellos es

Graciela González, de 23 años,
supo en junio de 2015 que estaba
enferma del riñón. Junto a su hijo
de unos 6 años cuenta que no sabía
que tomar el agua que viene del
pozo podía hacerle tanto daño. Desde un pequeño cuarto de su
casa de ladrillo, enfrenta un tratamiento de diálisis que no puede
pagar con el sueldo que recibe
por asear una casa adinerada en
Guadalajara. En el Hospital Civil de Guadalajara se han registrado 226 casos de
enfermedades renales de habitantes de alguna de las localidades de
Poncitlán, desde 2009 a la fecha.
También han documentado 70 casos de malformaciones congénitas
en el mismo periodo. Un estudio realizado por el
investigador de la Universidad
de Guadalajara Felipe Lozano
revela que de los 300 alumnos de
preescolar, primaria y secundaria
de Agua Caliente, 170 presentaron
indicios de daño renal. Los casos de personas que nacen
con pies y manos deformes o con
algún problema de desarrollo cognitivo se han registrado en estos
poblados por más de 20 años. La hija de Ofelia Orsino, Sandra, de 23 años, nació con una
malformación en los pies que le
impide caminar. Tampoco puede
hablar con fluidez. En el hospital al que acudió no
le dieron explicación para la enfermedad de la niña. "Hasta después
ya nos vinimos enterando que el
agua estaba muy contaminada y
que por eso nos nacían los niños
enfermitos", comenta. Como todos en el pueblo, tuvo
acceso a agua embotellada barata
apenas hace unos años, pero conP
siete hijos le es difícil pagar los 18S
pesos (un dólar) que cuesta: "Y asíq
estamos, viviendo con el agua que
nos está matando". El especialista Felipe Lozano
sostiene que el problema tiene
que ver con otros factores contaminantes, además del alto grado
de desnutrición entre los habitantes, especialmente en los niños,
quienes solo consumen chayotes,
frijoles, pescado y maíz. Los habitantes de San Pedro
Itzicán y Agua caliente viven en
hacinamiento, con suelos de tierra,
pesticidas en casa y en los cultivos
que los alimentan, además de que
se cocina con leña, lo que genera
gases tóxicos. "Son factores socio ambientales
que están incidiendo en la población, se potencializan uno con
otro, tenemos un serio problema
de desnutrición muy alta en estos
niños, no solo de insuficiencia
renal, sino un serio problema de
déficit cognitivo", sentencia. En la zona hay un centro de
salud cuyos médicos atienden dos
veces a la semana, durante el día.
Los enfermos más graves deben ir
a Tlajomulco o a Guadalajara para
recibir atención médica. La Secretaría de Salud de Jalisco anunció en abril pasado que
hará un estudio epidemiológico
para medir el incremento de casos
de insuficiencia renal y su correlación con la ingesta de agua.

Cientos de familiares de reos del penal de Topo Chico, esperan noticias luego de que se presentara
una riña en el interior del centro de reclusión que dejó un saldo de tres muertos y 14 heridos.
Una riña en el penal mexicano de Topo Chico, en el
norteño estado de Nuevo León,
dejó un saldo de tres muertos
y 14 heridos, informaron las
autoridades.
El suceso tuvo lugar en esta
cárcel donde en febrero pasado
49 internos perdieron la vida en
una pelea entre bandas rivales
que provocó una de las tragedias penitenciarias más graves
de la historia del país.
El gobernador de Nuevo
León, Jaime Rodríguez, informó vía Twitter que las personas
fallecidas son Eldemiro Guadalupe González, Jesús Ledezma
y Jesús Orlando Galindo.
Además, dio el nombre de
las 14 personas lesionadas que
"fueron atendidas", cinco de
los cuales fueron trasladados a
un hospital.
"En referencia a los hechos en
Topo Chico, se avanza en la investigación, después de la pronta
actuación de Fuerza Civil", señaló
el gobernador.
Al parecer el enfrentamiento
se dio entre bandas rivales del
cártel de Los Zetas, tal y como
sucedió en el suceso de febrero
y entre los protagonistas de la
pelea se encontraría un criminal
conocido como "el Maruchan",
quien fue uno de los instigadores
de la anterior riña.
Como en la otra ocasión, estos
tres reos fueron asesinados a golpes y con armas blancas.
Al filo de la medianoche, las
fuerzas de seguridad recuperaron
el control del centro y se permitió
que familiares de los internos entraran para comprobar su estado
de salud.
En Topo Chico también hay la
presencia de varias organizaciones de derechos humanos
que evalúan lo ocurrido.
La riña de febrero en el penal
de Topo Chico -que arrastra un
largo historial de violencia, autogobierno y sobrepoblaciónderivó en un traslado de presos

Raphael, todavía se
asombra de todo
Raphael, más de medio siglo
después, sigue gustando a gente
desde los 80 años hasta las nuevas
generaciones de chicos y cantantes, un éxito que se cimenta, según
dijo, en la pasión que pone a todo
lo que hace, en mantener viva la
capacidad de asombro cada día.
Derrocha simpatía y amabilidad
en su conversación. A sus 74 años,
el español Rafael Martos Sánchez,
conocido artísticamente como Raphael, reconoce que la vida "es un
milagro" que se renueva todos los
días, un regalo.
"Me asombra todo. Cada vez
que amanece, las plantas crecen,
salen flores. Yo amanezco con los
ojos como platos. Es un milagro
todo", dijo en una entrevista telefónica el cantante de Linares (sur
de España) y precisa que, eso sí,
es necesario "poner ilusión a las
cosas. Es lo más importante. Una
persona apática sin ilusión ni pasión por nada está muerta".
Raphael se mantiene con la misma energía de siempre y el mismo
inquebrantable compromiso con
su público en los conciertos.
Pronto los escenarios de Estados
Unidos podrán confirmarlo.
El "monstruo de la canción",
como se le conoce cariñosamente,
se presentará los próximos 10 y
15 de junio en el Microsoft Theater de Los Ángeles y el Beacon
Theatre de Nueva York, respectivamente.
PREGUNTA. ¿Qué emoción
le despiertan estos conciertos en
Estados Unidos, dentro de su gira
mismo éxito. ¿Cuál es el secreto?
R. Quizá la clave del éxito sea
la ilusión con que hago las cosas,
la pasión que pongo a todo lo que
merece la pena. Y a la gente le
gusta ver a un hombre cantando
que parece un crío, que sale al
escenario como si fuera el primer
día que lo hace.
P. Pero, ¿cómo es posible que
sus canciones gusten a gente
desde los 80 años hasta nuevas
generaciones?
R. Creo que vas creando escuela
sin darte tú cuenta. La gente joven
va viendo tus virtudes, si es que las
tienes, se van haciendo raphaelistas. Son los años y la experiencia
y que te consideren mejor.
Son ya 55 años entregado en
los escenarios a esa teatralidad
tan suya, que quizá proceda de
aquella representación de "La vida
es sueño" que vio en un teatro portátil y que le marcó para siempre:
descubrió que lo que quería era
pasar el resto de su vida subido a
un escenario.
P. ¿Qué le han descubierto los
años?
R. Los años me han descubierto
los años. Yo creí que esto no pasaba, porque por mí me hubiera
quedado en los quince; pero no
hay más remedio que cumplir años
para seguir vivo. La alternativa
es peor.
La trayectoria artística de Raphael tiene mucho de genio, desde
que con cinco años ganara en
Salzburgo (Austria) el premio a
la mejor voz infantil de Europa.
Lleva Raphael triunfando en
los escenarios de todo el mundo,
de Latinoamérica, donde es un
verdadero ídolo, Estados Unidos y
Europa desde 1962, cuando grabó
su primer disco.
P. Después de tantos años cantándole al amor y al desamor,
¿cuál es el mejor idioma para
hacer el amor?
R. El español, porque es el que
yo hablo. Es que nunca lo he he-
cho en otro idioma. El español es
tan rico, tiene tantas palabras para
expresar una misma cosa.
Sin embargo, asegura que el
inglés es un "idioma fantástico
para cantar", porque tiene muchas
palabras agudas y frases muy cortas", mientras que el español "es
más complicado".
Por eso, "quien canta bien en
español canta bien en cualquier
otro idioma".
La exitosa carrera de Raphael
solo se vio interrumpida en el
año 2003, cuando tuvo que ser
sometido a un trasplante de hígado
debido a una grave enfermedad
hepática que hizo temer por su
vida.
Pero hoy es un artista que mantiene una vitalidad desbordante,
inmerso siempre en proyectos,
que sabe desconectar del trabajo
para, por ejemplo, pintar sobre
lienzo, su gran evasión fuera de
los escenarios.
A sus 74 años, Raphael, reconoce que la vida "es un milagro"
que se renueva todos los días.
Raphael Sinphónico?
RESPUESTA. Es un reencuentro muy especial. Siempre lo
recuerdo. Mi primera gira internacional fue en Estados Unidos,
cuando lo natural hubiera sido que
empezara en Latinoamérica. Pero
mi primera actuación fue en el
Madison Square Garden de Nueva
York y me presentó Brian Epstein,
el manager de los Beatles. Luego
hice Las Vegas y San Francisco.
P. Una trayectoria musical de
55 años que continúa hoy con el
