Introduction
Once you have logged in to BearingNet by entering your username and password and clicking on
‘Login’, you will be taken to the ‘Welcome’ Screen.

There are a large number of features available on this page which are detailed below. Occasionally
there will be temporary features and announcements posted on this page, for example, information
about the BearingNet User Group Meeting. (Important announcements about the BearingNet site
will always be sent directly by email to all users.)
Choose Language
The ‘Choose Language’ facility enables you to change the language for using BearingNet. The
BearingNet website is available in English, German,
French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Chinese.
To Change the language, select the language that you
require from the list. Once selected the page is
refreshed in the new language.
Banner Advertising
You will see several banner advertisements on the Welcome Page
placed by BearingNet members. These are an excellent way to get
your company, brand or products noticed by all BearingNet
members. To look at more information on a particular banner
advert click on the advert and you will be taken to the company’s
web site. Banner Adverts appear on all pages in BearingNet. To see
all the advertisements displayed on BearingNet click on the
‘adverts’ menu option on the top toolbar. If you have any questions

Membership
The membership section indicates the total number of members in BearingNet. Click on this link, and
you will be taken you to the Company list, where the complete membership of BearingNet is listed
alphabetically by company name or by country. For more information about the features available
on this page, refer to the ‘Company List’ User Guide.
Activity
The activity box shows how many companies are currently logged in and using BearingNet.
Utilities
The utilities box contains 4 separate features.

Currency converter
This is an external function from xe.com. It allows you to perform currency conversions
between 97 different currencies within BearingNet.
Links
The links option displays a list of Bearing Manufacturers which can be searched
alphabetically by brand and provides links directly to their websites. To look at more
information on a particular manufacturer click on the web address and you will be directed
to the company’s web site.
Rank
Recommendations are awarded by companies to other BearingNet members as a form of
feedback when they have benefitted from good business experiences. The rank link takes
you to a page which lists the companies who have achieved sufficient points to gain a gold
star in the BearingNet recommendation system. These are the 200 companies with the
highest recommendation score. The companies in this list are therefore the most highly

regarded by other BearingNet members. The list can be sorted by Company name or by
Country.
The next 1000 highest scoring members are awarded a silver star. When you search for a
part in BearingNet, gold and silver stars are shown next to company names displayed on the
search results screen. Search results from companies which you have recommended are
highlighted in yellow to indicate ‘Preferred Supplier’ status.
For further details about any company in the rank list and to see who has recommended
them click on the company name and you will be taken to their company details page.

User Guide. Information on how the recommendation ranking is calculated is available in
the ‘Company List’ User Guide.
News
The ‘News’ link takes you to the BearingNet News Archive. This is a collection of industry
news articles which have previously been displayed in the ‘Latest News’ box.
To search for a particular subject in the news archive, click on ‘Search’ and enter a search
item (eg a bearing brand name) in the search box and click ‘OK’. All past articles with that
item in the title will be displayed. Click ‘News Archive’ to see a list of all articles in the
BearingNet News Archive. These can be sorted alphabetically or by date.
Public Holiday
Two boxes on the welcome screen show the current public holidays and those occurring over the
next few days. Click on the title of the box on the left side of the screen to view the public holidays in
every country for the remainder of the year. If a holiday has been omitted from this list you can

inform us by completing the ‘Add holiday’ box at the top of the page. Enter the date, the country
and the name of the event and click ‘OK’. The information will then be sent to the BearingNet team.
Help Request
This page contains three boxes:

If you encounter any problems using BearingNet you can contact us via email at
[email protected] or alternatively use the ‘Help Request’ button. This enables you to
fill in the details of your request and submit it through BearingNet.
You will be presented with a form to complete.
What is the problem?
Select ‘error’ from the drop down menu if you have been presented with an error message
when using BearingNet. Select ‘Bad translation’ if you notice some wording which doesn’t
make sense and select ‘help’ if you require some information about the features available in
BearingNet.
On which page?
Let us know on which page the error occurred or which page you require help with.
Email:
The email contact shown will be your company’s selected contact in BearingNet and the one
to which we will reply. You can enter another address here if the reply is to be sent to a
different contact.

the questions click on a question and the answer will appear in a drop down box.
Search
The BearingNet search box on the Welcome page
allows you to search for products in BearingNet.

Latest News
‘Latest News’ shows recent industry news and announcements. This News is updated by the
BearingNet team when a story is discovered that may be relevant to the industry. To view a story,
click on the heading.
The news screen shows the date the article was entered into BearingNet, you can use the ‘Print
Page’ link to print the article. When a new article is posted the oldest one is filed in the BearingNet
News archive. Click ‘News Archive’ to see a list of all articles in the BearingNet News Archive. These
can be sorted alphabetically or by date.
To search for a particular subject in the news archive, click on ‘Search’ and enter a search item (e.g. a
bearing brand name) in the search box and click ‘OK’. All past articles with that item in the title will
be displayed.

This box shows the companies that have started a free trial in the previous week.

BearingNet
This box includes contact details for BearingNet, these include e-mail addresses, phone numbers and
our postal address.
Terms of service
The terms and conditions of use are available by clicking on the link ‘Usage subject to Terms of
service’ at the bottom of every page in BearingNet. You are required to abide by these terms of
service under the conditions of your membership.
Welcome Box
On the top right side of the page there is a box welcoming users by name. It includes a summary of
the following information added since that user last logged in to BearingNet:
New Inquiries
Click on this and you will be taken to the BearingNet quotes system where you can see new
requests for quotes from potential buyers. If you have selected ‘Send all quotations by fax
or email’ in the Company settings (see ‘Your Account’ User Guide), all quotations will be
emailed to you and will be included in the ‘in progress’ section of the quotes system. These
do not count as ‘new inquiries’ therefore the ‘new inquiries’ box on your welcome screen
will always show zero.

Quotations
Click on this and you will be taken to the BearingNet quotes system where you can see
quotations from companies you are interested in buying from.

Wanted
The wanted link will take you to the ‘Wanted’ page where BearingNet members who need
to find a part urgently, advertise their requirements. The number next to ‘Wanted’ shows
how many wanted items have been added to the list since you last logged in to BearingNet
and visited the wanted page.

Offers
The ‘Offers’ link takes you to the ‘offers’ page where BearingNet members advertise special
offers or surplus items they have for sale. The number next to ‘offers’ shows how many
special offers have been added to the list since you last logged in to BearingNet and visited
the offers page.

Your Inventory
If your company has loaded inventory into BearingNet, the
number of each product type you have listed is displayed in the
‘Your inventory’ box. The ‘total’ amount listed on BearingNet
by all members is also shown. Clicking on items in the ‘Yours’
column will take you to ‘Your Inventory’ page where you can
see statistical information about your inventory and can use
the inventory management facilities to add, or edit inventory.

New Messages
The ‘New Messages’ box shows you how many new messages have been posted in the BearingNet
forums since you last logged in. Clicking on these links will take you to the relevant forum pages
where you can click on the topic and read the comments posted by other BearingNet members.

Chinese Channel
The last box on the Welcome Screen contains banner adverts from BearingNet Chinese Channel
members. The Chinese Channel is available to Chinese companies who wish to advertise on
BearingNet.
