Our Mission
Lebanon Catholic School is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg serving diverse
families of the Lebanon area. We provide a co-educational, spiritual learning environment
for students in grades K4-12. Students are encouraged to become life-long
disciples and learners through emphasis on prayer, worship, service,
and academic discipline. By sharing the mission of the
Church to guide, form, and teach as Jesus did,
we prepare our students to fulfill
their roles in the Church and
Mrs. Rose Kury – Principal/Secondary Director
in society.

Greetings From
the Principal
As we quickly approach the end of the
school year, we want to congratulate
our 2012 seniors who will soon join
Mrs. Rose Kury
the ranks of the alumni and we also
acknowledge the graduating class of
1962 who this year celebrates its 50th Anniversary Reunion.
I would like to take the time to extend my appreciation for your
support and commitment to Lebanon Catholic School as we
move forward in fulfilling our purpose and mission.
Plans for renovations and installation of many needed projects
are slated for the 2012-2013 school year. At our first alumni
social held the week of Thanksgiving, we established the buy-alocker fund in which new lockers will be purchased and installed
in the school. Lockers can be purchased as a group or just an
individual locker. Each benefactor will have the option to have a
plaque inscribed with his or her name or inspirational message
on the locker(s) purchased.
Much needed chairs for Masses, assemblies and other functions
is another goal we are working on. We have also received monies
to be put towards an Electronic Message Board. The electronic
message board will replace the existing announcement board in
front of Lebanon Catholic School. We are excited to have this
new technology to provide daily information of current events at
Lebanon Catholic to parents and those who pass by the front of
the school. It is vandal proof and is extremely efficient in
providing information. Through the very generous monies
received from St. Mary’s Parish we are currently upgrading the
heating system at Lebanon Catholic School.
I thank you for your generosity towards our annual fund and for
all that you are and do for the school. We are Partners Enabling
An outstanding Catholic Education. P.E.A.C.E.
Baccalaureate
and Commencement
Reverend Edward Quinlan, Secretariat of
Education for the Diocese of Harrisburg and
Principal Rose Kury will confer diplomas on the
members of the Class of 2012 at the 80th Commencement
Ceremony on Friday, May 26, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the
gymnasium at Lebanon Catholic School. Prior to the
Commencement Ceremony, at 10:00 a.m. the Lebanon Catholic
School community will gather to celebrate the Baccalaureate Mass.
The Baccalaureate
Mass is a beautiful
liturgical ceremony
and will be celebrated
by The Most Reverend
Joseph P. McFadden,
the Bishop of the
Diocese of Harrisburg,
Reverend Michael W.
Rothan, the school’s chaplain, in addition to numerous priests and
deacons from the Lebanon Deanery. The Mass is offered in
thanksgiving for the blessings God has bestowed upon these
graduates and their families. Students offer readings and special
awards are presented by the administration and faculty. Our
graduates and families find Baccalaureate to be a meaningful way
to mark the beginning of graduation celebrations.
Commencement highlights will include congratulatory remarks by
The Most Reverend Joseph P. McFadden, the Bishop of the Diocese
of Harrisburg, the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Class of
1962, and student addresses to be given this year by Bryan Bates,
valedictorian and Zachary Nash, salutatorian.

Keeping an Eye on the Next Venture
Greetings from the Assistant Pincipal
Mrs. Cynthia Williams, Assistant
Principal/Elementary Director
Mrs. Lori Kostow
In the field of development at a
Catholic school, one conditions herself to
look ahead, to keep an eye on the next
venture, to seek opportunities to share
with others in the community
the experiences that make the school
one of a kind.

Lori Kostow – Director of Development
There is a deep-rooted history of Catholic education in Lebanon.
As I go through old files, boxes, and decades of yearbooks, I have
come across so many wonderful photos and archival remnants
that chronicle the progression to present day, Lebanon Catholic
School. What is even more extraordinary is listening to stories of
visiting alumni which bring about light-hearted conversations
beginning with, “When I was in school, we used to…”
Lebanon Catholic is still fundamentally the same school it was 50
years ago. At the heart of Lebanon Catholic, are the faithful
teacher-student relationships that foster the school’s rich
tradition. Graduates continue to drop by during college semester
breaks just to “shoot the breeze” with their former teachers.
There are many plans in the works to bring about more occasions
for L.C. alumni to come together more frequently to reconnect and
rehash old stories. For all former LC football players, a reunion is
being planned next fall. And, we’d love to bring back the alumni
basketball games in the spring. If you have any events that
you’d wish to see come together, please contact the Office of
Development at 273-3731, ext. 312. I’d be thrilled to talk
with you.
The Annual Fund Campaign closes June 30, 2012. Please
make checks payable to Lebanon Catholic School
and return your gift in the enclosed envelope. †
Thank you for your support this past
year! I am happy to announce that
Lebanon Catholic will be offering a full
day Pre-K class along with the option for
students to come to a morning session for
the Pre-K class starting with the 20122013 school year. A full time teacher and
Mrs. Cynthia Williams
a full time classroom aide will be
available for the Pre-K classroom. We will also continue to offer
full day Kindergarten with the half day option.
Faith, academics, and service are some of the virtues that are
stressed at Lebanon Catholic School. Our Catholic faith is taught
as well as carried out through monthly Masses, retreats, and
prayer services. Academics is also a big focus at Lebanon Catholic.
The educators enhance our students to learn as much as they can
in order to reach their potential while attending Lebanon Catholic
School. Service is the reason that Jesus came to earth. The
students are introduced to service projects through activity period
and also through various projects throughout the school year. The
food collection at Thanksgiving, collections of hats, gloves, socks,
and canned soup, and designing cards for the American soldiers,
Veterans, and elderly people living in the homes in Lebanon
county are some of the projects that are done at Lebanon Catholic.
Lebanon Catholic appreciates the help you have given us. We’ll
use your donations in areas of the school that our need is the
greatest. May God bless you! Thanks again! †
Endowment The Gift that Keeps on Giving
Parents, Alumni & Friends of Lebanon Catholic School,
I am much honored to be asked to represent Lebanon Catholic as
the honorary endowment chair. Lebanon Catholic presently has
an endowment fund of approximately half-million dollars. Only
the profits from this fund may be used for our annual needs —
many of the endowments are designated for specific needs. All
endowments are managed by the Hershey Trust Company.
Lebanon Catholic alumni add up to over 4,000 graduates. We also
recognize parents who sent their children to LC, but are not
alumni, as our friends as well. If all of these alumni and friends
decide to send an annual gift, what a blessing it would be!
Volunteers Needed to Paint
Our band room is in dire need of a make-over.
Sound proofing tiles need to be replenished and a fresh
coat of paint is overdue. We are seeking the generous support
of 6-8 former Lebanon Catholic alumni to assist us in this project by
volunteering a couple hours on a Saturday to tackle this project!
Please consider an endowment for your family or as a memorial to
a deceased friend or family member. I would be honored and
happy to speak to any of you… at your class reunion, picnic or
weekly breakfast gatherings. I am also available to meet with you
personally at your home or for lunch.
Best wishes as we go forward with L.C.!
Tony Mohl, ‘49 †
The date is to be determined.
If you are interested in helping and could spare some time, please email Mrs. Shannon Root at
[email protected] or by calling 273-3731. †

Golfers Will Be Teeing Up for a
Wonderful Cause — June 1
1992 State Championship Girls
Basketball Team Reunites for Their
20th Anniversary
Beautifully manicured greens, gently sloping fairways, blue skies,
warm breezes and a day out with your golfing friends …Oh! The
joys of golf! There is no better setting than the Lebanon Country
Club, the long-time host site of the annual Rosemary Sonni Walsh
Memorial Golf Tournament to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in 2012.
It was a very special ending of the annual celebration of Catholic
Schools Week at LC on Friday, February 3rd, as members of the 14
1991-1992 Lebanon Catholic Girls Basketball Team reunited at the
varsity girls’ home basketball game against Lancaster Mennonite
to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their State Championship Title.
Between the JV and varsity games, a special recognition ceremony
took place on center court. To honor their remarkable achievement
and to celebrate this twenty year milestone, present LC girl
basketball players gave each state champion flowers as they were
escorted to the center of LC’s court to be recognized by the fans.
The 1992 state trophy and special memorabilia was on display for
fans in the main lobby of the school during the game.
Following the game, the 1992 teammates with husbands and
children in tow gathered in the library for a post-game get-together
for food and refreshments and to watch a DVD of the 1992 State
Championship Game. It was an extraordinary night for these
champions to connect with present players and their families.
There was lots of laughter and storytelling all evening long. †
Since its inception in 1992, the Rosemary Sonni Walsh Golf
Tournament has raised over $415,000 over the past two decades
insuring that deserving children receive scholarships to attend
Lebanon Catholic School. Many students have benefitted greatly
from “Rose Grants.” The fruits of this tournament are being
realized through the hundreds of students whose lives have been
touched by the generosity of its supporters.
In her lifetime, Rosemary Sonni Walsh recognized the value of a
Catholic education. She laid the groundwork to assure that any
child wanting this education would find the support necessary to
secure it. God’s blessing, coupled with your generosity will
guarantee a successful tournament and continue Rosemary’s
mission to make Catholic education available to all children. The
part you play in a child’s education at Lebanon Catholic School
will shine as an example of living what you learn. Whether you
golf, sponsor a hole, come for dinner, or make a donation, your
participation is key to achieving this goal.
The day begins with registration at 11:00 a.m. and after signing in,
golfers will enjoy a delicious lunch buffet until the 1:00 p.m.
shotgun start. Play is in a scramble format with contests as you go.
Prizes are awarded for: Top 3 Teams, Closest to the Pin, and
Longest Drive.
At day’s end relax and enjoy the dinner buffet in the club house.
