Welcome
Explore Canary Wharf this summer with its sun
kissed open spaces, award winning public art,
free outdoor events, bars, restaurants and four
fabulous shopping malls.
Our summer events programme is always full of
music, dance, outdoor theatre, food markets, family
theatre, sport and fashion events and this year is no
exception! The big screens go up in Canada Square
Park to show sports and entertainment and the stage
hosts a huge variety of artists from orchestras to
solo singers.
Enjoy the now famous Canary Wharf Jazz Festival,
the roar of the annual Motorexpo, Sunday children’s
theatre, opera streamed live from Covent Garden
and the thrills and spills of sports events including
The Pearl Izumi Tour Series and Ping!
Wood Wharf once again becomes a sports hub
hosting Beach Volleyball, the Tour de France Fan Park
and Beach Rugby and this year’s resident bar, CNTNR
Bar, an ingenious up-cycled shipping container.
Visiting Canary Wharf is easy with three hours free
parking* at weekends and bank holidays. For all the

Celebrate summer with Canary
Wharf’s fabulous annual summer
fashion event.
Choose from fashion shows in Canada Place
and Jubilee Place showcasing the latest
summer styles and trends available in
Canary Wharf’s shops and enjoy live music
and entertainment as you go.
Fast paced, action packed cycling
returns to Canary Wharf.
With promotions and discounts of up to 20%
in many fashion and accessories stores, this
two day shopping extravaganza is the perfect
opportunity to refresh your wardrobe for the
summer season ahead.
Britain’s top cyclists take part in the fastest event
on The Pearl Izumi Tour Series calendar around
Canary Wharf’s iconic 1.1 kilometre circuit.
Olympic Champion Ed Clancy will be amongst
those competing seeking to avenge his narrow
defeat by Chris Opie last year. Crucially though
it is team performance that really matters with
five world level UCI squads competing including
Clancy’s Rapha Condor JLT and the newly
formed NFTO team, who include Adam Blythe
and the Downing brothers.
Ahead of the professional race there will be
the thrill of the ProAm Canary Wharf Corporate
Grand Prix as teams from some of Canary
Wharf’s tenants battle it out on the same circuit
as the professionals. With each team anchored
by a Pro rider the chance for glory will hinge
upon the performance of the five teammates,
all of whom will be aiming to follow in the
wheel tracks of previous winners such as
Barclays Capital and Thomson Reuters.

Canary Wharf’s exhibition programme has focussed on three-dimensional work
but this summer we are showing photographs in the Lobby of One Canada
Square – the work of Christopher Jonas.
As he withdraws from some of his business and
pro bono interests, Christopher Jonas has brought
his second career as a photographer to the fore.
This is not an entirely new venture for him. He has
worked creatively in photography for some forty
years, first with a 35 mm camera then turning
recently to digital format, for which he had a
period of intensive study with Ivan Coleman,
Head of Photography in Fine Art at Goldsmiths,
University of London.
Carpe Momentum – “seize the moment” –
is Jonas’s apposite title for this exhibition of
sixty-four photographs and reflects his abiding
interest in people and their places in the world.
The layout of the exhibition has been designed
by the artist in a series of six compositions, which
give variety, not only of place, time and mood
but also of colour and monochromatic imagery
within both intense and restrained configurations.
The eye of the photographer, in his selection of
photographs, opens a wealth of possibilities for
the viewer to understand more about our world
with deeper perception.
Tuesday 29 July from 6.30–7.15pm
Curator Ann Elliott tours the exhibition with
the artist. To reserve a place please contact

Adam King
1 – 27 June
Graham Hodgson
29 June – 25 July
Paul Strange
27 July – 29 August
In his works on paper,
Adam casts an eye over the
contemporary landscape
bringing fantasy scenarios
within imaginary yet familiar
environments. Images cut out
of lifestyle and fashion
magazines are combined
with drawings that reference
architecture, resulting in
fragmented colourful
compositions.
Last year Graham won the
first Britain’s Got Artists award
and was runner-up in the
Global Arts award. The title of
this collection, Auld Hands,
is derived from a Northern
expression meaning someone
with many years’ work
experience. These paintings
are an exploration of this
culture and the hard-working
people associated with it.
Paul employs a number of
techniques and styles in creating
his work. He uses blades, power
tools, squeegees, wood, metal,
sandpaper and found materials
to create rich textures and
layers of different colours.
His process is then to scratch
back the paint and surface to
reveal the colours and tones
that lie dormant underneath.

Louise Seijen-Ten-Hoorn
1 – 27 June
Claudia Rice
29 June – 25 July
Kirstie Maclaren
27 July – 29 August
Louise’s objects and jewellery
pieces are carved, sculpted,
cast and fabricated in materials
such as metal, plaster, wax
and resin. The key vehicle she
uses to express her ideas is the
human body, or aspects of it,
and some of the themes that
seep into her work originate
in symbolism, fairy tales
and alchemy.
Claudia’s childhood was spent
in her father’s jewellery workshop
from which she inherited many
jewelled treasures. She seeks
innovative ways of integrating
broken jewellery, clock parts
and found objects with new,
precious and non-precious
materials. The results demonstrate her ‘make do and mend’
ethos – breathing new life
into discarded objects filled
with history.
Kirstie’s jewellery is heavily
inspired by the architectural
movement of Brutalism and
she obsesses about concrete
structures like The National
Theatre and the Barbican.
She also loves Modernism and
the luxuriousness of Art Deco
and together all these have

Walking on Water:
Delivering the Legacy
Equinox Partners:
The River of Power
Until 9 July
10 July – 10 September
Walking on Water is a visual chronicle of the
East London that is emerging post-Olympics:
with its 6.5 miles of connecting waterways,
villages, neighbourhoods, schools and
universities, artist quarters, and centres for
media, technology and science. Created
by artist Frank Creber and Water City, this
200-piece display was an integral part of
the Channel 4 Grand Designs Live exhibition
displayed at ExCeL earlier in May. In the
same way that Grand Designs focuses on
the imaginative regeneration of individual
buildings, the regeneration of East London
can be thought of as reflecting a Grand Design
writ large. A selection of images from Walking
on Water is displayed at Canary Wharf.
This exhibition showcases part of the float and
display of City law firm CMS Cameron McKenna,
which made its grand entrance at the head of
The Lord Mayor’s Show in November 2013. In all,
83 members of staff and local schoolchildren
connected to the law firm celebrated CMS’s senior
partner, Fiona Woolf CBE, becoming the new
Lord Mayor of the City of London, only the second
woman in the City’s 800-year history to hold this
office. Titled The River of Power, the float and the
choreography of its associated activity for the
parade were designed by artist Clare Newton
and Hackney-based design consultancy Equinox
Partners. In Fiona’s words: “The energy, creativity
and sheer intelligence of the River of Power has
been the talk of the City and it says so much
about CMS as a firm and what we care about.”
