but it doesn’t require a permit from the Peruvian government (there are a limited
number of permits). There are many ancient hiking trails outside Cuzco. One of
them is the Chaski Trail which follows the main communication trail used by the
Incan Empire to connect Cuzco to Ollantaytambo. Along the trail you will visit
archaeological sites and Andean communities, and will have amazing views of
the snow-capped peaks and the Sacred Valley. After the trek, you will visit the

The protected areas of the Manu wilderness have
become world famous because of their unspoiled
rainforest and amazing wildlife. Manu Wildlife
Center is located 2 hours from Cuzco by charter air
and boat. The lodge has 22 screened bungalows
with private bath and no electricity (lighting is by
kerosene lamp and candles).
Puerto Maldonado, located at the confluence of the Madre de Dios and Tambopata Rivers, is the gateway to
the jungle lodges in Peru’s southern Amazonas region. From Cuzco it is a 50-minute flight to Puerto Maldonado,
