Audition Notes
“Urinetown”
Welcome to the Skokie Park District Devonshire Playhouse auditions for this production of
“Urinetown”. The following is some important information we ask that you read prior to
auditioning. Auditions are open to anyone over the age of 12. Please note that while youth are
invited to audition, only a few will be cast-almost exclusively in the ensemble.
Music Auditions
Please be prepared to sing 32 bars of a song in a similar style to the show. An accompanist will
be provided.
Acting Auditions
Sides are provided in the packet. It might help to also look over these as you could be reading
from these as well as cold readings from other selections.
Dance Auditions
Please dress comfortably and be prepared to learn a short dance combination.
Callbacks: Any callbacks will be conducted on Thursday, August 14th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Not
receiving an invitation to callbacks does not mean that you will not be cast. It only means that
we need a second look at certain auditionees together, in order to make final decisions on some
characters
Performance Dates
Saturdays, November 8, 15, & 22 at 7 p.m.
Sundays, November 9, 16, 23 at 3 p.m.
Proposed Rehearsal Schedule
Please be prepared to list all potential conflicts with the rehearsal schedule on your audition
application. Conflicts might include: work, school, or religious observances. Rehearsals will begin
just after Labor Day (September 3rd). Generally rehearsals will be held three times/week until
the final 2-3 weeks of rehearsal. These are scheduled for Monday & Wednesday evenings from
about 7-10 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from Noon-4 p.m. Of course not everyone will be called
for every rehearsal. However, no conflicts are allowed the last two weeks of the rehearsal period.
The final week of rehearsals- the full cast is called each night and rehearsals may last till 10 or
10:30 p.m. that week.
The detailed rehearsal schedule is provided after the play is cast because we try to work around
conflicts that are listed at the time of the auditions. Make sure you list all conflicts prior to
casting.
