Prieš trylika metų Kolpingo kolegijoje
pradėtos organizuoti studentų konferencijos, kuriose
studentai dalinasi savo pasiekimais moksle (tyrimų,
projektinės veiklos rezultatais), įgyta akademine
patirtimi Lietuvoje ir užsienyje. Prieš trejus metus,
bendradarbiaujant su Baltijos Vadybos Plėtros
Asociacija (BMDA), konferencija tapo tarptautiniu
renginiu. Per šį laikotarpį renginyje dalyvavo
studentai iš Lietuvos, Italijos, Ispanijos,Vokietijos,
Didžiosios Britanijos, Slovakijos, Kanados,
Singapūro, Kazachstano, Baltarusijos, Nigerijos,
Čekijos, Lenkijos ir Latvijos aukštųjų mokyklų.
Trečioji Kolpingo kolegijos tarptautinė studentų
bakalaurų konferencija vėl Jus, jaunus ir
akademiškai aktyvius žmones, subūrė kartu šnekėtis
apie šių dienų iššūkius, dalintis savo pasiekimais ir
laimėjimais, mokytis iš savo klaidų ir visiems kartu
kurti bendrą ateitį.
Šiandien tarptautinė akademinė bendruomenė
vis dažniau diskutuoja apie jaunų žmonių bendrųjų
kompetencijų stiprinimo svarbą. O Tarptautinės
Kolpingo draugijos nariai jau beveik 200 metų
pasaulyje, ir daugiau nei du dešimtmečius Lietuvoje
ugdo jas, vadovaujantis pagrindiniais Adolfo
Kolpingo socialinio mokymo principais. Bendrosios
kompetencijos svarbios ne tik profesinėje veikloje,
bet ir kasdieniame gyvenime. Bręstančiai asmenybei
reikia šeimos supratimo ir palaikymo, tvirto
vertybinio pagrindo – tikėjimo, profesijos
išmanymo bei ryžto ir valios tapti aktyviu ir
atsakingu piliečiu.

Thirteen years ago Kolping University of
Applied Sciences started organizing student
conferences, where students are able to share their
scientific achievements and academic experience
gained in Lithuania and abroad. Three years ago
national student conference organized by Kolping
University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with
Baltic Management Development Association
became international. During this period the event
brought together students from Institutions of higher
education of Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Germany, Great
Britain, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Czech
Republic, Canada, Latvia, Nigeria, Poland and
Belarus. 3nd International Bachelor Students Practical
Conference ‘Theory and Practice: Student Insights’ is
extremely important to discuss about our challenges
together, share the success, and learn from each
other’s mistakes in order to create the better common
future.
International academic community now days
more and more discuss about importance of
strengthening young people’s common competences.
The International Kolping Society members for
nearly 200 years in the world and for more than two
decades in Lithuania develop common competences
based on Adolf Kolping social teaching principles.
General competencies are important not only at
professional field but also at everyday life. Maturing
personality needs understanding and support of the
family, as well as strong base of values - faith,
professional knowledge, determination and the will to
become an active and responsible citizen.

KOLPING UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES: CAREER
STARTS WITH 'K'
Kolping University of Applied Sciences welcomes you to study Ecotourism (the only
program in Lithuania), Child‘s Welfare and Social Security (the only program in Lithuania),
Financial Acounting in the Public Sector (the only program in Lithuania), International Business,
Finance, Business English Translation, Social Work and Law. All programs are accredited in
Lithuania. After the graduation form the Kolping University of Applied Sciences all students are
certified with the vocational Bachelor’s diploma which is acknowledged by the Ministry of
Education and Science in Lithuania.
History
Kolping University of Applied Sciences has been successfully functioning in Lithuania for 18
years. The founder of the Kolping University of Applied Sciences is Lithuanian Kolping
Foundation i.e. a catholic charity and support organization. Kolping authorities and institutions in
Lithuania are a part of International Kolping Society. The Society is well known in the world for
more than 150 years. It operates in more than 60 states in the world and unites more than 450 000
members. The center of the society is in Köln
in Germany, where priest Adolf Kolping who
is the founder of the society started his
activities. Kolping Societies carry on with
their work in all over the world – in Austria,
Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, USA, Latin
America, Asia, South Africa etc.
The ethos of the Kolping University of
Applied Sciences is Christian values; a great
respect is shown to student’s personality and
positive
mutual
communication
and
cooperation.
“If you want a better future, you must create it yourself”, the famous German
priest, educator and journalist Adolf Kolping said in XIX century. And his activities are still being
carried on all over the world.
Modernity and quality
Kolping University of Applied Sciences has been expanding since the begining of 2011. In
autumn of 2011 students were invited to study in a newly built modern building in Kaunas old
town. The intensive development of the material comforts of the University of Applied Sciences
began in spring of 2008 and on the 4th of April in 2011 the new building was opened. The
classrooms in the new building are adapted for the handicapped, updated library and reading rooms,
spacious classrooms, computer classes, a conference room, equipped with a simultaneous
translation technics and other modern means satisfy students‘ and teachers‘ needs. One can see the
cultural heritage of the sixteenth century i.e. excavated and stored cellar fragments in the one of the

oldest Kaunas places (now in the basement of the new Kolping building) Kolping University of
Applied Sciences invests much in the quality. In June of 2012 the implementation of the quality
management system according to ISO 9001:2008 standard was completed and the certificate was
given to the University of Applied Sciences.
Knowledge and Practice
On the basis of well organized cooperation with our social partners the students of Kolping
University of Applied Sciences have wide opportunities to combine practical work with the theory
and therefore after graduating the University of Applied Sciences students are more competative in
the labour-market. Highly qualified teachers provide with the best quality studies and students have
the opportunity to develop their practical skills, not only during the lectures or studying on their
own, but also doing their practise work in other institutions or organizations of the social partners.
The students are offered the opportunity to practice and get a job in Germany.
Possibilities
Students can continue their studies in Lithuania and other EU countries, they also can choose
Erasmus exchange programs. The Kolping University of Applied Sciences has signed cooperation
agreements with institutions of higher education in Lithuania, Great Britain, Denmark, Germany
and other countries. Students have opportunity to actively participate in the Kolping University of
Applied Sciences and the International Kolping Society activities in Lithuania and other foreign
countries. The best students can be awarded with the scolarship that is funded by the founders of
Kolping University of Applied Sciences and the students who recieved the scholarship don‘t have
to pay for their studies. Successful graduates gain professional Bachelor's degree. Many graduates
who have finished studies at Kolping University of Applied Sciences, continue their studies in
Lithuania and universities abroad and successfully find jobs or set up their own businesses.
Students‘ activities
The Kolping University of Applied
Sciences has been organizing international
scientific and practical conferences for 13 years.
In autumn each year, Kolping Students‘ Week is
organized by the students‘ union and anually
students‘ festivities take place in the Kolping
house. Each year lecturers from foreign
universities arrive to give lectures, students
participate in seminars in Lithuanian Kolping
Society of Cultural and Educational Centre in
Troškūnai, region of Anykščiai. The Centre is
located in the former eighteenth century
Bernardine monastery. Our students contribute to
social projects and actively participate in student events. Students‘ Union has a successfully playing
basketball team, which has won more than one cup in various basketball tournaments.

WHAT IS BMDA?
Baltic Management Development Association (BMDA) was established at the end of 2002 by the
initiative of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Universities and Business schools, individual
professors of management as well as professionals from business society having a goal to develop
management education, training and research and to improve the quality of leadership and
management in the Baltic Sea region.
This initiative expanded rapidly beyond the geography of the Region and BMDA is an international
association uniting 68 members from 23 countries – Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark,
Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Republic of
Kazakhstan, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA.
WHY BMDA?
BMDA differs from other Management
Associations by its integrative role - establishing
virtual and cooperation bridges among BMDA
members: Business companies, Education
Institutions, Consulting companies, and
individual management researchers as well as
creating favourable conditions for their
cooperation. As Association unites members
from various countries around the world, the

 Increasing awareness about institution (placing logo, publishing news, etc.);
 Expressing needs for competence development or suggesting demanded training;

 Taking part in Business/Academic cooperation, Academic cooperation or Community
projects as well as other joint projects;
 Suggesting the solutions to solve existing management challenges in the Organization;
 Sharing insights, recently originated methodologies, articles, etc.;
 Getting access to the newest management literature resources, e-books, articles, PhD thesis,
etc..

the Europe and the World.
Publishing newest research findings in Baltic Journal of Management (BJM) – a joint project
between BMDA and Emerald Group Publishing (UK).
Educators and Students mobility within BMDA.
Training seminars for management educators, companies’ leaders and all the others interested in
Management and Leadership issues.

ANOTACIJA
Šiame straipsnyje atlikta ne gyvybės draudimo paslaugų lyginamoji analizė skirtingose trijose
draudimo bendrovėse studento kaip vartotojo atžvilgiu, kuris nori apsidrausti savo transporto
priemonę ir kelionę, tačiau susiduria su daugybe skirtingų produktų bei pasiūlymų. Tai viena iš
dažniausiai vartojamų paslaugų, kuri yra svarbi kiekvienam norinčiam apsaugoti tai kas vertinga ir

often advocate not only for the protection of the rights of creditors, but also for it to restore the
solvency of the company, the opportunity to restore the business again or carry on. It is believed
that the business entity quick withdrawal from the market does not guarantee the stability of the
court and other market participants themselves do not improve their financial situation. It is

Nušalinimas nuo darbo - sparčiai besivystantis reiškinys darbo santykiuose. Būtina
kiekvienam darbuotojui ar ketinančiam dirbti asmeniui, o taip pat darbdaviui suvokti šio reiškinio
esmę, priežastis ir pasekmes. Įstatymai numato galimybę nušalinti darbuotoją dėl keleto priežasčių,
kai jis: 1) darbe pasirodo neblaivus, apsvaigęs nuo narkotinių ar toksinių medžiagų; 2) atsisako
nustatytu laiku pasitikrinti sveikatą bei nepateikia darbdaviui savo medicininės pažymos apie
sveikatos būklę; 3) yra gaunamas įgaliotų institucijų įsakymas nušalinti asmenį nuo darbo.
Nušalinimu nuo darbo yra siekiama asmens elgesio pokyčių darbo teisiniuose santykiuose,
neatleidžiant paties darbuotojo iš jo užimamų pareigų. Nušalinimo pasekmės darbuotojui visais
atvejais yra neigiamos: jos blogina darbuotojo gyvenimo kokybę esamuoju laiku, kai jis negauna
darbo užmokesčio, ir gali užkirsti kelią jo tolesnei profesinei karjerai. Todėl įstatymų leidėjas yra
įtvirtinęs du alternatyvius darbuotojo interesų gynybos būdus.

Laws foresee as possibility to suspend an employee, thus it is very important to know what
meaning, importance and consequences this legal means of impact can have. The objective of the
article is to analyze the main aspects of suspension from work. Having analyzed the documents one
can state that suspension from work is a temporary means of legal impact applied in certain cases
and essentials foreseen in the law when an employel is forbidden to be in their post, do the job
designated to them, fulfill the duties. Reasons for suspension from wor can be classified as follows:
1)an employel appeared at work not sober, imtoxicaed with drugs or toxical substances; 2) an
employee refuses to check their health at a designed time and does not present the employer their
medical certificate about their state of health; 3) the order from legal institusions is presented to
suspend the person from work. Consequences arising from fulfilment of suspension are: the person
is not paid a salary, they can be dismissed from the post, can be dismissed from work, the
suspended employee can be moved to another post.

The article analyzes animated movie diversity in today‘s world, also its impact on children
actions, values and thoughts. The research done in Domeikava Gymnasium (Kaunas, Domeikava
Gymnasium, November, 2013) revealed animated movies‘ prevalence between 9-11 year old
children. The reasons of choosing particular animation and also effects on children‘s emotional
relationship with its content are discussed.

Straipsnyje yra nagrinėjama animacinių filmų įvairovė šiuolaikiniame pasaulyje, taip pat jos
poveikis vaikų veiksmams, vertybėms ir mintims. Tyrimai atlikti Domeikavos gimnazijoje (Kaunas,
Domeikavos gimnazija, 2013m. lapkričio mėn,) atskleidė, kad animacinių filmų paplitimą tarp 9-11
metų amžiaus vaikų. Dažniausiai žiūrimas yra ,,Geniukas Vudis“, rečiausiai ,,Digimonai“.
Labiausiai vertinama veikėjų savybė yra ,,draugiškumas“, ,,drąsa“ ir ,,juokingi posakiai“. Tai
parodo tam tikrą animacinio filmuko pasirinkimą ir jo turinio įtaką vaikams. Vaikų laikas,
praleistas žiūrint vienokią ar kitokią animaciją, turi tam tikros įtakos vaiko pasaulėžiūrai,
vertybinėms nuostatoms ir kt.
Animacinių filmų žiūrėjimas vaikams turi teigiamą ir neigiamą poveikį, svarbiausia riboti
laiką ir neleisti juo piknaudžiauti. Taip pat vaikams dažniau rodyti edukacinius filmukus, kurie
lavina vaikų vaizduotę ir bendrą suvokimą.

Homelessness is one of the forms of social exclusion. In modern society, homelessness
becomes although specific, but relevant issue. No one is safe from the uncertain life situations and
potential social threats. In 2012, there were 2117 tenants, including boyh,men and women, living in
municipal hostels. Compared with previous years, it can be noted that each year the hostel
population is respectively growing. The paper introduces the results of qualitative research
regarding professional experience of social workers working in the men’s hostel, carried out in
2014 - why this client group is so special for social workers, what kind of professional knowledge
and skills are required to work with this client group and how the values have changed in relation
to the client. The informants disclosed that when they started working in the men‘s hostel, some
were unpleasantly surprised by the appearance of the clients during the first meeting. Moral values
in relation with the client were constantly changing, thus providing some experience. Each client is
unique, with "their story." Some clients deny the existing problems while others a willingly
receiving the help. Workers are exposed to positive and negative emotions and stress at work. To
the new colleagues, starting their work at men‘s hostel, informants recommend to really get to know
the workplace and the clients, not to be frightened by them, be confident and seriously think about
whether or not this is the place where they wish to work. The biggest satisfaction the social workers
get is when they observe improvement in their clients lives. Those kind of situations provide
meaning to their line of work. A major concern of social workers is client dependence and
implementation of unrealised goals.

sergantiems jauniems žmonėms teikiamo socialinio palaikymo rūšis ir teikėjus, identifikuoti, kokio
socialinio palaikymo jiems trūksta.
THE NEED OF SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
WHO SUFFERING FROM ONCOLOGICAL DISEASE

SUMMARY
Cancer is one of the most insidious diseases, which is known all over the world to provide
every year a lot of people get sick. It does not matter whether you are young or old, the disease can
ever caught, even life never interfering people. Good news is that nowadays there are a lot known
about the cancer, its structure, causes, so it is easier to prescribe treatment. However, doctors do
not really help a person psychologically, so more and more involved in this area of social worker,
who is very much needed especially for those who are not relatives.
The main problem of this research - noted that it is not looked at this kind of social support
should be and what it can give to young people who suffering from oncological disease? What kind
of social support they already received?
The goal of this article is to reveal how social support received and from whom, and how the
lack of social support for young people who suffering from oncological disease.
Working methods: literature analysis, semi-structured interviews, qualitative content analysis.
Five young people who suffering from oncological disease has been interviewed. The study was
conducted in 2014.
The research has shown that the young people who suffering from oncological disease is
receiving social support from family, friends and professionals. Social support has been given to
the informal social network and professionals. Most valuable social support to the research
participants identified as family associations and social support. Although the young people who
suffering from oncological disease received social support from family, nevertheless they need more
emotional support from their social, as well as a lack of professionals in this case doctors, social
support, and one of the study participants, the lack of tangible social support.

Kūrybiškumas suvokiamas įvairiai (gebėjimas kelti naujas idėjas, nestereotipiškas mąstymas,
netipiški sprendimai probleminėse situacijose, alternatyvių idėjų kūrimas bei atrinkimas ir pan.).
Tačiau kiekvienas (ypač dirbantis socialinio darbo srityje) gali tapti kūrybinga asmenybe – tik
reikia smalsiai priimti naujas idėjas, siekti tobulumo savo veikloje - nuolatos originaliai
komponuoti, novatoriškai modeliuoti ir nestereotipiškai mąstyti.
Darbo tikslas - atskleisti kūrybiškumo panaudojimo galimybes socialiniame darbe,
analizuojant socialinių darbuotojų patirtį Kauno rajono vaikų dienos centruose bei vaikų globos
namuose.
Atlikus socialinių darbuotojų požiūrio į kūrybiškumo taikymo galimybes socialiniame darbe
tyrimą, paaiškėjo, kad respondentai skirtingai supranta kūrybiškumą, tačiau jaučiasi kūrybiški bei
stengiasi kūrybiškumą atskleisti socialiniame darbe. Tačiau ne visuomet tai pavyksta padaryti dėl
finansinių trūkumų, motyvacijos stokos, palaikymo nebuvimo, nuovargio ir kitų veiksnių. Darbas su
vaikais buvo paminėtas kaip daugiausiai kūrybiškumo reikalaujanti veikla, tačiau socialiniai
darbuotojai vyksta į naujus kursus, mokymus, rengia projektus tam, kad būtų suteikta efektyvesnė
pagalba vaikams.
CREATIVITY IN SOCIAL WORK

SUMMARY
Creativity is is perceived in different ways (the ability to raise new ideas and non-stereotyped
thinking, atypical solutions in problem situations, alternative ideas for development and selection,
and so on). However, it is clear that everyone (especially those working in the field of social work)
can become a creative person – only to be curious to adopt new ideas to achieve excellence in our
work – constantly compose an oroginal, innovative modeling ant think to stereotypes.
Final practice was noted that social workers usually perform many different types and
functions. This is the main reason for the lack of creativity in time for dissemination of their work
process. The aim – to reveal the creative possibillities of using social work analysing social
workers experience Kaunas abstrict children in day care centers and child care homes.
Following the approach of social workers in the creative application of social work study
showed that the respondents have a different understanding of creativity, but consider themselves
creative and try to uncover the creativity in social work. But not always can do it because of
financial deficiences, lack of motyvation, lack of support, fatigue and other factors. Working with
children has been mentioned as the most demanding creative activity, but social workers go to the
latest courses, training, developing projects in order to give effective assistance to children.

ANOTACIJA
Straipsnyje aptariamos naujų terapijų taikymo galimybės neįgaliųjų dienos užimtumo
centruose. Pristatomi 2014 m. atlikto tyrimo, rašant socialinio darbo bakalauro baigiamąjį darbą,
rezultatai, kuriuo buvo siekta atskleisti terapijų taikymo galimybes asmenims su kompleksine
negalia neįgaliųjų dienos užimtumo centruose.
Tyrimu nustatyta, kad užimtumo terapijos gali sukelti kiekvienam individui skirtingą savitą
poveikį, kuris pasižymi tiek teigiamais veiksniais, tiek neigiamomis emocijomis. Atskleista, kad
neįgaliųjų dienos užimtumo centruose trūksta kultūrinės veiklos, fiziškai aktyvesnės veiklos, delfinų
terapijos bei hipoterapijos.
Pagrindinės kliūtys naujų užimtumo terapijų taikymui - tai organizacijų vidinių bei išorinių
išteklių trūkumas, neįgaliųjų dienos užimtumo centro klientų mažas susidomėjimas bei menkos
galimybės užsiimti tam tikra veikla.

SUMMARY
People with disabilities are a part of our society. Disabled people have been regarded as an
inferior class of people for a long time. In order to reduce inequality, information about disability
needs to be spread and there must be a change of attitude in terms of disability and with an
emphasis on the possibilities and strengths of the situation based on the strength emphasis theory. It
is specifically occupational theory that seeks to empower, provide various opportunities, develop
various skills and increase the independence of people with disability.
The subject of this study is the possibilities for the application of occupational therapy in day
activity centres for disabled people.
The purpose of the study is to present the possibilities for the application of therapy with
complex disabilities in activity centres.
Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, semi-structured interview for data
collection, qualitative content analysis for the analysis of qualitative data.
The study was conducted in the county of Kaunas, in two disabled day activity centres and in
one institution for long-term social care which all have day and temporary care groups for
individuals with mental health problems. It was determined that due to internal and external lack of
resources, organisations frequently avoid new methods of applying occupational therapy and the
occupational therapies that are applied to individuals with disability cause various effects,
sometimes negative emotions.

mainų programa Erasmus.

SUMMARY
Nowadays, more and more school leavers in Lithuanian choose studies in foreign countries.
Even though, everyone has different opinions about this arising trend, we think that, it has very
negative impact. The best pupils choose studies abroad instead of studies in Lithuania. Hence, our
country lose future leaders and specialists, cause only a small part of them come back home after
their studies. The main goal of this analysis was to estimate most common reasons why most
talented young people choose studies in other countries.
Analysis revealed that the most important cause is price and quality ratio. The price of studies
in Lithuania and foreign countries is similar. However, the quality of studies is much way higher in
such countries as the United Kingdom, Netherlands or Germany. That is the main reason why our
country loses most talented young people.
However, studying in foreign countries does not necessarily mean long term emigration. That
is why students’ exchange program ‘Erasmus’ is the best choice for young professionals. In this
way students can explore new cultures, broaden their connections and learn new languages. This is
priceless experience which even can help to find a dream job in the future. In my opinion, students’
exchange programme ‘Erasmus’ can become crucial point leading towards successful professional
career.

This paper work seeks to investigate the art of language learning and the role played by
language learning centers and hubs around the globe in improving international relations and by
extension how tourism benefits from these engagements. The language and language learning
definitions are explained in the article, as well as the need for language learning for tourism issues
is explained. Tourists who visit a country or more countries to learn the language and culture
become excellent ambassadors.
The author states, that language learning centers could be used as the tool for developing
international relations and diplomatic ties between countries.

pagerinti tarptautinius santykius ir tarnauja kaip priemonė, kad šalys taptų artimesnės
